That's very good news Soop for MrSoop. It's quite unusual to get both eyes done at the same time, isn't it? No bending or having a shower I believe is the advice. I'm just back from family lunch where I had a really tasty steak pie with new potatoes. I'm lounging on the couch and considering a cuppa. Or wine. I hope you had a lovely holiday Doodle. Fingers crossed for your son Shazza. I hope he makes a speedy recovery. Grannmarie enjoy your holiday. Blossoming it's difficult when you know both parties, isn't it? And very unsettling. Brook enjoy Cambridge. It sounds so lovely.
Have a good evening all.

That’s such good news about Mr soop’s eyes soop hoping all goes well for him

I’m just back from a browse around the interesting shops in Cambridge - it was quite busy with lots of people around and one of the Colleges had what looked like a graduation event taking place with the students dressed up in their gowns with some very smart and proud looking parents looking on

Hoping your DS is doing ok Shazza it must be a worry with him being so far away although it sounds like he’s in very good hands

Hoping you’re feeling a bit better today blossoming and your friend can work something out

soop Fri 29-Apr-22 13:47:49

Mr Soop now has a date for the removal of both cataracts. We need to plan bus travel and an overnight stay in a hotel. smile

soop Fri 29-Apr-22 13:46:33

Welcome back, dear Doodle

Jax Today is warm and sunny. We've enjoyed a long walk surrounded by spring flowers and tuneful birdsong.

Nannytopsy You are getting there. Sounds like a good plan to delay travelling until Saturday.
Will you be baking delicious calorie-free food? If so, you know where you can find some willing taster-testers.

Shazza Would the shop not reduce the cost of the dress that you so liked? Perhaps the flaw could have been overlooked. Just saying.
Plentiful healing vibes winging their way to your son's bedside in China. flowers

Hello all. Been on holiday for a week so no chance of catching up.
Just wanted to say welcome to anyone new. Hope all those who are feeling poorly improve soon. Hoping for comfort for those who have problems and worries.
Take care all. TOYA x

Jaxjacky Thu 28-Apr-22 19:23:41

Evening everyone, I hope you’re in a slightly better place now Blossoming. That hope goes to Yia too, big hugs for both.
A busy couple of days voluntary driving and today the phone calls as well. It’s been so cold, but I noted in my diary this day last year we went out for a meal, outside only then, at 7:30pm it was 7.5 degrees, I must admit I ate my mains, MrJ went to pay while I got in the car and put the heating on.
Fingers crossed for a -ve MrTopsy tomorrow.
Dinner calls, have a lovely evening all x

ShazzaKanazza Thu 28-Apr-22 18:05:20

It hasn’t been too chilly Nannytopsy because there has been no wind. Can’t wait for it to warm up.

ShazzaKanazza Thu 28-Apr-22 18:04:00

Good evening lovely Kitcheners, good to read your news from today.
Blossoming what awful news about your friends husband ending their marriage. We’ve been married 38 years and I couldn’t imagine that happening. She is really going to need your shoulder to cry on.

DH had a small op recently Soop and we had to isolate 3 days but we made some sandwiches and a flask of tea and drove to the coast we sat on the cliff with lovely views with no one around. It was really nice.

There have been some very busy goings on today by the sound of it.
Hope your DH is soon negative Nannytopsy.

My DS1 has been under anaesthetic having a small op today he’s been having stomach and bowel issues. He’s in China. It’s all to be paid for so all his tests and his op have been done within 6 days. Him and his wife are in together because he needs her to translate. Even though he was nil by mouth they put him on a glucose drip for the night so he didn’t go weak. So different to here.

We had a ride over to Harrogate today. I very nearly bought a dress for a wedding or rather husband nearly bought me it and when we took it to the till it had a flaw in it. So annoying it really suited me as well it was a midi skater type dress.
We had a gorgeous lunch there though.

Have a good evening everyone and chill. x

Nannytopsy Thu 28-Apr-22 17:26:56

Good afternoon everyone - is it as chilly where you are? I’m negative and ready to go to our two families gathering tomorrow but DH is still positive. May wait until Saturday to travel? We’ll see what happens tomorrow. It gives me a bit longer to do the baking …
Love the dog portrait soop - clever lady. And what little boy wouldn’t love the Dimetrodon?
I’ve been to Crafternoon Tea and had a quick nap, so time to make a start!

soop Thu 28-Apr-22 17:14:58

Blossoming I too am wondering whether your friend's husband is of sound mind. Your friend is definitely entitled to her share of assets after a fifty year marriage. I hope that she seeks the best possible advice from a competent lawyer. I also trust that her family rally and give her the loving support she needs to get through this terrible trauma.
You take good care of yourself. Your friendship will be precious. Try to relax, and concentrate on what positive reassurance you are able to offer. flowers

Five bags of clothing ready for the Salvation Army. One large bag of dressy clothing to be dropped off at the Red Cross shop. I feel better for the clear out. It was spirit-lifting.

More instructions regarding Mr Soop's forthcoming cataract surgery arrived today. He must have a Covid test at the local hospital 72 hours prior to travelling to Glasgow. After the test, he must isolate. We will both be housebound. All in a good cause.

I shall now enjoy a much-needed brew. After which, I shall polish my halo. grin

TOYA and wishing you a pleasant and peaceful evening. smile moon

Grannmarie Thu 28-Apr-22 15:49:39

Thanks, Soop, good luck with your wardrobes!
Thanks, Dogs! I know what you mean about hanging on the phone. I waited 49 minutes for my insurance company. They are now my previous insurance company!?
Aww, Blossomingflowers, I'm so sorry that you're feeling down about your dear friend and her awful situation. You must be very close to her, I'm sure you'll be a great support and comfort to her in the difficult days ahead.
Well, we're nearly organised for our very early flight on Saturday. We've to arrive 3 hours before! This is when I go into panic mode with ' What ifs...', checking and checking my lists!
TOYA, have a good evening. I'll pop back later.?

Jaxjacky Thu 28-Apr-22 14:48:27

Oh Blossoming what upsetting news, it does sound very erratic of this man, I hope their children are being supportive and rationalising the situation.
Little sleep does none of us any good, get your head down, in a comfy place, not a corner, for a couple of hours, then have a treat ?.

Blossoming Thu 28-Apr-22 14:16:20

Good afternoon dear Kitcheners. Good luck with the blitzing Soop and don’t overdo it.

I’m feeling rather down today. A friend telephoned me yesterday evening with the sad news that her husband has decided he wants to end their marriage after almost 50 years and raising a family together. She is very hurt, it came out of the blue and she has sought legal advice as he says she isn’t entitled to anything which is balderdash. He apparently tried to sell the house without telling her. His behaviour sounds irrational to say the least and I wonder if he has some form of dementia. I slept very badly and I think I’ll just crawl into a corner and curl up for a nap. Sorry, not good company just now.

soop Thu 28-Apr-22 12:26:18

Grannmarie I enjoyed reading your lovely post. All good wishes for you and your husband's 70th birthday treat in sunny Ibiza.

Dogsmakemesmile Oh, no...hanging on the telephone line listening to irritating music and the recorded voice stating that the line is busy, is not for those of a nervous disposition. hmm

I am about to blitz the wardrobes. Bin liners all lined up. Wish me well. I may be gone for some time.

Dogsmakemesmile Thu 28-Apr-22 08:41:45

Morning everyone. Incredible blue sky here with frost on the grass. Tackling housework later. Ddog and I listening to Today programme currently. Phone calls to make. Tried to get hold of various people/make appointments but ended up hanging on for what seemed like ages. Probably ten minutes! Nothing urgent.
Granmarie your Ibiza sounds wonderful.
Take care everyone. Especially those for whom life is tough. x

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people!

Sorry I've been AWOL recently, but I have tried to keep up with all the news.

YiaYia, so sorry, ???, condolences on the loss of your dear Aunt, and love and prayers for your DDiL and her dear Dad. It's so hard that Covid is keeping you from her at such a difficult time. I understand how cruel dementia is, our lovely Mum suffered for many years, we had a decade of grieving before the end came.

I'm happy to hear that our Covid patients have recovered/ are recovering, be gentle with yourselves, I've heard of many people suffering post Covid fatigue.

Beautiful paintings, Soop and Grandmabatty, you are talented ladies indeed. My creativity involves making a pot of soup, it's chicken and rice today, help yourselves!?

Best wishes to all on their travels, its good to hear of people enjoying wee breaks with family and friends. Stunning photo Brook!

DH and I are off to Ibiza next week, where we will celebrate his 70th birthday. We'll have a small family gathering on our return. It's our first overseas trip since before the pandemic, and his mobility is much poorer now so I've arranged airport assistance, and a mobility scooter in our resort so we can still get out and about. Fingers crossed all goes well with the travel, this is where I wish we could say,
'Beam me up Scotty' and magically arrive!?

TOYA, especially those with illness, worries or sorrow. NNGB??

soop Wed 27-Apr-22 17:53:27

Blossoming Yes please to sharing your tomato and basil soup with wholemeal bread. You were intending sharing with us lot ? wink
You have managed to achieve a lot more than I have today. We had a visitor and, after he left, I indulged big-time watching snooker. And that, was that. hmm

However, you do tell me to relax. I have most certainly done just that. Tomorrow is another day. I intend polishing the furniture to perfection. hmm

Thank you for your company. Our new kitchen has been exceedingly busy since it opened. I am so grateful to have it visited by the best grans on Gransnet.

smile moon

Good afternoon dear Kitcheners. Some lovely photos today. That made me laugh Shazza. I have occasionally hunted for my glasses while I’m wearing them.

I started off well this morning, cleaned a bathroom, did my physio and caught up on some admin before lunch. After lunch I tidied the kitchen and put some clean clothes away then sorted the pantry shelves. After that I ran out of steam so any other jobs must wait until tomorrow. My little great niece Phoebe is 4 today, she is such a little beauty. Another niece is getting married this summer, invitation received and accepted today. I think I may just snooze until tea time, there is tomato and basil soup and fresh wholemeal bread from our local bakery.

ShazzaKanazza Wed 27-Apr-22 16:59:49

I missed the picture you put on Brook so I’ve gone back to look at it. What a lovely scene you captured.
That’s another beautiful sunset Soop.

Bellanonna Wed 27-Apr-22 16:47:14

Another amazing sunset picture soop. You could create a calendar from your pics, but I think I’d have a problem narrowing the choice down to 12.

soop Wed 27-Apr-22 16:37:01

The sun continues to shine. Last night's early evening photo is cheerful.

soop Wed 27-Apr-22 16:34:41

Yia You have our support. This must be a very sad time for your family. flowers

brook a beautiful, tranquil scene. Well done for capturing it from aloft.

Grandmabatty I agree with other Kitcheners. The dinosaur is a winner and your grandson will be thrilled. You have talent.

Thank you for your kind comments. The lovely lady in our village is delighted with her pet portrait. She intends buying a frame for it tomorrow. I'm well happy. Even though I managed to leave my walking stick in her hall. We shall collect it tomorrow before our daily saunter.

soop Wed 27-Apr-22 16:25:47

Shazza Us lot are prone to silly moments that raise a grin

Dogsmakemesmile Wed 27-Apr-22 15:53:57

Fabulous dinosaur Grandmabatty. My boy used to love them and can still name most of them. My GS just the same. Thank you for reminding me of those days.

ShazzaKanazza Wed 27-Apr-22 15:15:52

Good afternoon dear kitcheners, cuppa for me please Grandmabatty. Your picture is brilliant you have a lucky little grandson. You gransnetters are very talented. I haven’t got an ounce.
Soop that terrier painting is amazing.

DH has gone to pick up DGS. I’ve been to buy him a couple more Julia Donaldson books, he loves them especially Superworm and The Highway Rat.

Bit of an idiotic me today! I was on the phone with Mum and she said have you heard from your sister. I said I have I’ll read you the messages I’ll just get my phone. So I proceeded with a hunt and a bit of a panic later realised I was on it talking to Mum. Duh!!
It was funny and made mum laugh with the names I called myself.?
