Good evening lovely Kitcheners !
I still read of all your doings and I could not resist a random visit to see a Gathering of Kindly Folk.... and you're It....so just wanting to make a rare appearance to say hi and wish you all the best. There's a definite breath of Spring whooshing through the Kitchen and along with the baking and lovely warmth from the Aga, I can detect a real whiff of optimism too - such a joy!
I get a lump in my throat when I try to describe how thrilled to bits I am over your successful procedure', soop . Didn't I tell you over and over that you were brave enough - you just HAD to do something - and just look where you are and how you are now. Well done, you. I think we're all so very glad your life has been transformed and you can now make plans and get back to the life that you want and deserve again. Sending a French hug to you and one for Mr Soop for the way he has cared for you and got you back to where you need to be. Slowly does it - it seems as if you're winning at last.
You're worrying about Sweetie Pie, though. I know she's disappeared before and it's always a worry when a cat breaks habits.
But....in all the drama and upheaval, pain and sadness that you've endured over the last many months, I wonder if you've forgotten a few important points about that cheeky cat.
Sweetie Pie is a little chap, not a girl. Not that you care, of course. But a good time ago you did describe the moment you realised your mistake. Do you recall telling us that you had a perfect view of that little chap's gentlemanly bits? He's a Tom cat and as he's entire and has been used to running around and fending for himself, until he met you I suspect his life was very different.
But old habits......and as he's a young chap he has again undoubtedly gone off a'courting. It's that time of year. I recall he turned up at your home one time with a girlie friend. He's always going to run off and try to find girl friends and he's not going to come home again until he's tired of playing man about town and his lady friends are bored with him. Sadly, that means that he probably won't ever settle and call the lovely Soops his full-time home. It will also explain why he gets very thin when he stays away - with all that clubbing and nights on the town it's likely he has very little to eat. He's also at risk of getting into fights over girls and territory.
Maybe when he comes back again, if you're feeling more like your old self and sound in wind and limb, it would be a good idea to borrow a cage/trap and let him eat from a dish in that for a while. Then when he's settled and you're ready, you can set the spring and he'll be safely inside and off to the Vet for The Big Snip. You'll then have your forever cat and not be worried about his absences or his safety. Just an idea!
This part of the South of France today has been a bit of a challenge, weatherwise. I'm sitting by the fire, the wind is roaring down the chimney and around the house. It's been like that for 3 days now and with 80kph gusts I'm rather tired of it.
The cold in the gales is incredible, although the sun is out and the skies are blue. Birds are having to be kamikaze types to get from hedge to tree and we actually struggled to stay upright when out with the dogs earlier. Hoping for some calm in another 24 hours or so and looking forward to the promised 20 degrees on Friday.
Must just say that it's lovely to see all the familiar faces. Hope you're feeling much brighter and have got your mo-jo back, Grandmabatty. I expect that little boy and his antics are a help. Remember - don't worry about things you can't change. It's a waste of energy and life. Lovely to see Ruby in the Kitchen, Tilly, and hope you're well. How's the surgery wait, Yia? Are you getting nearer? You could probably use a nice plump cat as lagging for your back this weather, Charley. I'm longing to read the post when you tell us you have another at home. Sorry to hear of your health worries, Hellogirl but it sounds if, at last, you are getting somewhere. Lovely to see you Muse, hoping that Spring is coming to Cornwall very soon now. Hope you're well Brook - and still offering that listening ear to your DD. ? Not seen any sign of Ann for a while - hoping she's fit and well and making every use of her new legs. Pants you're in the Kitchen cos I bet you've run out of tea. I think there's always a good selection but you'd be wise to bring your own chamberpot. All the chatter makes for a very dry throat. GG I know you've had the lurgy - do hope you're 100% better now. That is an awful ankle swelling Jax - thank the Lord for Mum's Emergency Rescue Service.
To everyone in the Kitchen, old and new peoples, wishing you well and this year, hopefully, some time away to reset after the horrors of the last couple of years. We owe it to ourselves to have a good time - not just here in the Kitchen.
Can't go without saying that your Tim, soop doesn't get any less handsome, does he? And he gets more and more like his Mum every day - I can't be the only one who has said that to you.
Take care all of you 'kindly folk', please keep well and be happy.
(And forgive the lengthy post, but as I don't bother you very often, maybe you'll overlook it this time.
Hugs from France and from me ????♀️
