‘Evening All’
We’ve had a most pleasant Easter Sunday. Stepfather joined us for dinner. Earlier we all called over at the little family’s house o deliver eggs. L’il Miss was on the trampoline in the garden as it was a gorgeous sunny afternoon. She jumped up and down and asked me to play ‘I-spy’.
L’il Miss: “ ... something beginning with ‘S’ grandma”
Me: Socks? Shoes? Sunflowers?
L’il Miss: “no - would you like a clue? It’s in the trampoline.”
Me: “erm... sorry I have to give up”
L’il Miss (delightedly): “it’s a (s)circle grandma! See, here it is in the middle of the trampoline!”
One of us needs to get better at this game.

Happy Easter Sunday to all our kitchen friends and the lovely pictures GG13, Grannmarie and Shazza, that post box is a real work of art and love the Easter table too
Pleased you could get your shoe on Blossoming and enjoy time with the family
We’ve definitely got blue tits in our nesting box on the side of the house, I’ve been watching them fly to and fro all afternoon- so lovely to see. Also a strange day today as I was in the garage when I heard clip clop, clip clop coming down the road … only to see a beautiful chestnut brown horse on next doors driveway … it was our neighbours daughter who was out for a ride in the woods and came to visit! A gorgeous big horse that I couldn’t resist stroking ?
Good evening lovely kitcheners. Well that was a busy day phew!
Everyone has had a nice time and DS new lady friend gave me a hug and thanked me for making her welcome.
The GC are tired and everyone went off with full tums.
I’ve read through the news of your day.
Maw I’m sorry you and the family are going through such a trauma. My heart goes out to you all for what has yet to be gone through. Your Ds mil has love to surround her in her final hours ?wishing you well??
Have a peaceful evening everyone take care. X
Happy early Easter Sunday evening all, having taxied both sets of children home, I’m now having a glass of wine, it’s turned chilly, blankets were donned in the garden earlier.
Fingers crossed for the painting soop.
So pleased your foot has held up Blossoming and you’ve enjoyed your day.
Imogen made a delicious, now consumed, cheesecake.
I’m shattered, but Dr Who soon, a must watch here.
Have a pleasant evening kitcheners x
Thank you, GrannyGravy Grannmarie and Shazza for the delightful Easter Sunday images.
Happy to have your company, gillgran hoolahoop dustyangel Bellanonna.doodle corner tilly and Sue..and indeed all of our special lovely lot. It is a blessing to come into our kitchen and know that you are continuing to share your news.
I've worked all afternoon on the new painting. So far, I cannot comment as it's too early to give an opinion. Sometimes I feel that I am losing whatever it is that is vitally important. I am a tad lack-lustre this afternoon. Not to worry, by tomorrow I shall feel inspired. Van Gough cut off his ear...I have no intention of following suit.
Blossoming Well done!
gillgran Relax and get well soon.
Urms I am chuffed for you. Spend your winnings wisely.
Well, that's it for today. I hope that every one of you have something pleasant to share and enjoy this evening. We are having a quiet day. Simple pleasures for which we are truly grateful.

GrannyGravy your local postbox cover is delightful. Such clever knitters around.
Blossoming I hope you are soon free from pain. ?
Happy Easter dear Kitcheners. The gouty foot has behaved itself enough for me to get a shoe on and have had a lovely time with family. The weather has been beautiful this weekend, so nice for families to be able to get out and enjoy themselves.
Lovely flowers Shazza, loving Granmarie’s table and GrannyGravy’s post box topper too.
Condolences to you and your family Maw, the best laid plans, etc.
Good to hear you sounding so much better Soop and glad to see Hiraeth and FannyC in the kitchen.
The drugs are making me drowsy but anything is better than the pain, hoping I only need to take them for another day or so.
TOYA until later
Maw
Happy Easter to you all in soop's cosy kitchen.
What a day you had yesterday, MawtheMerrier, sorry to hear of sad family news for you. Take care of yourself (& Rosie).
I have a heavy cold & feeling rough, but I continue to test -negative- for Covid. So, no family visits this bank holiday weekend.
Warm wishes & Easter Blessings to you all.
Love your endearing Easter table Granmarie.
Oh heck what an emotionally and physically exhausting day Maw . You were a Super Mum swinging into action like that. Sorry you are on your own on Easter Sunday but as soop says these sad events happen no matter what the day is. ?
Good afternoon, Soop and all you lovely Kitchen people, especially the newcomers.
I'm popping in to wish everyone many Easter blessings ???, especially for those with sorrow, worries or pain. A speedy and complete recovery to all covid patients,.
I've lots of catching up to do on Kitchen news, but I'm TOYA.
Hoping to pop back later .
A warm Easter welcome Hiraeth and FannyC. Make yourselves comfortable and enjoy the treats that are special part of our kitchen celebration.
Maw I read you post with a lump in my throat. It is a sad fact that life draws to a close irrespective of what others are celebrating. You will, in your own stoical way, cope with whatever difficulties and dismay you are presented with. A very special virtual (hug) is heading your way.
I haven't caught up with all the happenings. I have been sketching the third pet portrait. I have high hopes. Par for the course. This afternoon, with luck, I may have the opportunity to apply the first wash.
I send my love to you all. I am not going far. I have every intention of returning a little later.
Happy Easter ? everybody!
On my own unfortunately today, but life does not always go to plan does it?
Bit of a saga coming, (apologies Marydoll for my version of a novella)
Middle daughter’s MIL has Alzheimer’s and is in a care home, v poorly. Yesterday morning she was taken to hospital with breathing difficulties, and it was looking bad so SIL, O immediately set off from Norfolk where they had been for the week. They were supposed to be coming to me for Easter but D rang yesterday morning to warn me. D still had the house to pack up plus GS Flynn and of course the dog as O was heading straight to the hospital. An added complication was that his Dad had just tested positive for Covid so was not going to be allowed to be with her.
I drove over to Norfolk (100+ miles) to find that SIL had arrived in London and rung to say they were fully expecting to be saying goodbye to his mum that afternoon/evening and she was being moved to the Margaret Centre - the hospice at Whipps Cross. She was on morphine and clearly on the way out, but bless her, she’s tougher than we thought. The good news was that despite testing positive they were letting SIL’s Dad in to be with her.
SIL, his Dad and his sister were taking shifts staying with her as only 1 family member is allowed at a time overnight.
I offered to drive N, F dog etc back to London so that they could be with SIL. . So off we set down the M11, (another 100+ miles) unpacked the car at their house only for Flynn to come out to see what we were doing when D and I were checking the car - and shut the front door behind him ( with D’s bag, purse and THE HOUSE KEYS inside ), Flynn in his socks too.
So off to Whipps Cross……
Home at 8 after nearly 7 hours driving and a lot of motorways and so grateful for my lovely neighbour who looked after Rosie for me.
(Anyone fancy a slow roast shoulder of lamb with pomegranate seeds and Tarte Tatin?)
Update this morning - D’s MIL is still with us but weakening and asleep/no longer conscious.
It is good that they can all be together, I know when Paw died we all gained so much comfort and support from being together with him at the end.
Sad to be alone but even sadder to know what they are going through today.
I hope your Easter is a happier one ?

‘Evening All’
A gorgeous sunny day here. We went out this afternoon for a long walk around the town in the sunshine. Himself fancied a pint. We called in our favourite bar just up the road. I’m not drinking so had some juice. Anyway it turned out that we had the winning ticket for the sweepstake flutter on last Saturday’s Grand National! (Noble Yeats). £45 - thank you very much. A nice surprise indeed when we called in!
