Don’t let the buggers get you down, Urms.

Blossoming Sat 09-Apr-22 23:18:18

Good evening dear Kitcheners. I have slept most of the day, I hit the neuro fatigue wall big time.

Just dropping in to give Urmstongran a big hug after that nasty personal attack. Why do some people behave like that? No room for it in our Kitchen!

brook2704 Sat 09-Apr-22 22:16:39

Well done to your DGD kitty I bet she was thrilled and lovely that she’s sharing with her sister too
Sorry to hear about your battering elsewhere on GN Urmston, don’t let it get to you and hope you’re ok, sending ❤️

MawtheMerrier Sat 09-Apr-22 21:42:43

Apparently my mum put 10/- on Never Say Die in my name (aged 6) in the 1954 Derby.
Ridden by a very young Lester Pigott, it came in at 33-1.
Mum always used to bet on the jockey rather than the horse (in her annual flutter on the Derby or maybe Grand National)

Urmstongran Sat 09-Apr-22 21:33:01

I am now thanks for asking kitty ?
Right that’s me choosing no. 27 in next year’s GN. It’s sure to be the winner isn’t it? The rest of you may as well save your stake money!
?

kittylester Sat 09-Apr-22 21:20:39

Apparently you pick the horse with the same number as your birthday. jaxjacky She is going to share with her sister.

Hope you are OK urms. wine

Jaxjacky Sat 09-Apr-22 21:11:57

Can your dgd give me her tips next time please kitty?

Urmstongran Sat 09-Apr-22 21:09:22

‘Evening All’

I’ve taken a bit of a battering today elsewhere on GN so I’m feeling a little subdued. Ach, it happens sometimes and I’ve pulled up my big girl pants. Tomorrow is a new day eh?

What a win for the 9y old in your family kitty a fortune by any standards!

I hope Lynne gets better soon, Hello. Is she OK?

Hellogirl1 Sat 09-Apr-22 20:21:58

Lynne is on antibiotics again Kitty. It`s a pain remembering to give them to her 1 hour before or 2 hours after food, I keep forgetting. Well done your granddaughter.

kittylester Sat 09-Apr-22 18:01:30

Just popping in to see how everyone is.

Enjoy the cuddles Topsy.

Enjoy your visitors soop and good decision re MrS's eyes .

I do have abs but there are very strict instruction. 4 times a day, either 1 hour before or 2 hours after food - complicated!

We have had an exciting afternoon - dgs3 has been bought his first razor and dgd4 (age 9!!) won £250 on the Grand National.

Jaxjacky Sat 09-Apr-22 18:00:58

Another day of doing not a lot, I’m struck by lassitude (sounds better than saying knackered), but, nose dried up, cough almost gone.
Sweetie Pie is good at playing aloof and mysterious, always a good tactic.
Fish fingers and chips for dinner, hardly high living!
Have a lovely evening all x

brook2704 Sat 09-Apr-22 17:54:14

My goodness grandmabatty you’re superwoman today! Wherever that mojo came from can you send one up to me please too ! Seriously well done to you though that’s an impressive achievement for one day

Sounds like a good plan for Mr Soop, his eyesight takes priority but hope you can still fit in a wee trip up to the highlands sometime - a house swap maybe! That loyalty card idea sounds good though pittcity although you don’t want to be there too often. Hope you’re enjoying the visit from your friends soop

I’ve been to DD2 this morning, played a couple of games of SkyJo with DGS, watched DGD do some prancing around and dancing for me, went out (and paid - again?) for lunch and then got a few bits from Tesco … that’s about it for me today … DH picked up the new car which is looking very clean and shiny so he’s happy too - there’s definitely no more McDonalds in the back seat for the DGC for now ..

Definitely agree singingnutty so much help and support here on GN ?

Pittcity Sat 09-Apr-22 17:10:12

Does Ross Hall have a loyalty card Soop?

Grandmabatty Sat 09-Apr-22 17:00:23

A busy day for you Soop. Sweetie pie knows where her bread is buttered! My mojo appears to have returned. All the housework done, washings done, out on the whirly and now ironed. Weeding done in the front garden too. I have a pear and almond streusel cake in the oven and I'll make biscuits later. It is a good feeling to be organised. I hope your knee is improving Kittylester. Nannytopsy your family will be with you now I expect. Have a lovely time. Have a good evening Kitcheners.

soop Sat 09-Apr-22 15:45:43

The sun is shining brightly. It remains a tad chilly. Sweetie Pie, being a free spirit, has disappeared into the forest. It will be some time before we are blest with the next visit.

Friends have phoned and will be visiting later this afternoon. Their company always cheers us greatly. I had better whisk a duster over the furniture. Wouldn't wish to let the side down.

Thinking of you all and trusting that those of you with health issues begin to recover very soon. smile moon

muse The quotation brought a wee lump to my throat. It is most certainly our intention to provide a resting place when needed. It is also a gathering place to share our joys and celebrations.

Well now, Mr Soop urgently needs a cataract removing. He's been on the waiting list for well over a year and, according to the optician, he may have to wait very much longer as the list is lengthy. Instead of the Highland holiday that we planned to take this year, we have decided to pay for private surgery at Ross Hall. Eyesight comes first. We understand that the cost will be a little over £2,000. Hey ho! Needs must.

kitty Keep a close eye on the infection, PLEASE. It is essential to seek medical assistance if it shows signs of worsening. I nicked my thumb on a rusty latch on a gate...it turned into full-blown sepsis. A week in hospital on an antibiotic drip. Very worritsome.

I am posting because I want to say how comforting it is to have Gransnet peeps to ask for help. DS2 and wife dropped small DGSs off this afternoon with dog as they are catching train to London first thing tomorrow and staying overnight. Dog unexpectedly came on heat! We do not have experience of dogs. I posted on Pets strand of Gransnet and have got advice about how to deal with this situation. Feel so supported!

Nannytopsy Fri 08-Apr-22 22:53:58

Hello everyone! Ironing finished, cooking done, beds made and bathrooms cleaned. We are ready for the family to visit tomorrow to meet DGGS. Just need to get up early to get to the bakery - they tend to sell out.
I’m glad Sweetie Pie is back soop - a worry for you!
Bed time - sleep tight everyone ?

Charleygirl5 Fri 08-Apr-22 22:06:50

Hellogirl a cattery is not an option if I am taken to hospital in an emergency and at my age that is a possibility.

Catteries in London cost a fortune and the last time Tara was in a cattery I know she was not given her prescription food which I supplied but I could not prove it.

Good evening lovely Kitcheners, and a warm welcome to mine and best4me. Please help yourself to the goodies on the sideboard and pull up a chair. It has been a beautiful sunny day with a very chill wind, good for drying my laundry. I have been to the salon and now have glamorous swishy hair, it won’t last!

Perfect description of Soop’s Kitchen Muse and I’m glad you call in.

I’m pleased to hear Sweetie Pie has called in soop.

Big hugs to those with aches and pains. TOYA until tomorrow x

muse Fri 08-Apr-22 21:22:09

I must plan something like your fabulous day brook. That does sound like a good time to have a new car.

brook2704 Fri 08-Apr-22 21:01:44

Ahh I remember you posting that line from the song muse - it’s very true

muse Fri 08-Apr-22 20:55:38

Hello Kitcheners and welcome Mine, Best4me and welcome back Sweetie Pie.

I've been a drop in person for just over a year now Mine since I joined GN. A poster called Doodle said I must pay a visit and visit I have done. Sometimes to bring cake and sometimes to eat cake - lots of it. Many months ago, I quoted here a line from a song I love: I come back here from time to time. I shelter here somedays. That's soop's kitchen to a tee.

That's my ultimate Sunday brunch Grandmabatty and Charleygirl5, of course accompanied by a good slice of sourdough toast.

Fingers crossed for a +ive test on Monday Jax and others testing regularly. Glad to read you're on the way up Tilly.

Thank you for your kind thoughts Yia. 25th April has a big star and smiley face next to it in my diary. New colour is it ?
