Evri (Hermes) and Click-and-Collect at Sainsbury's - I Laughed My Socks Off

Due to health problems I have been ordering online rather than going down to the shops myself.

However, after a few packages were stolen because delivery drivers left them at the gate rather than walking down the drive, I decided to use the click-and-collect option for the last item I ordered.

Although I didn't order it from them I arranged to collect it from my local Sainsbury's as it was the easiest for me to get to.

After receiving the usual flurry of emails regarding the delivery of my item, I received this one at 2.04pm today:

"Your local courier tried to deliver your XXX Ltd parcel today but you weren't in.

There wasn't a safe place to leave your parcel so we'll try again and contact you on Monday 4 April 2022 with more information.

It'll be delivered to:
Argos In Sainsburys"

Yes, I know they only have standard forms/letters for these things but it did make me laugh.
1) Apparently I live in my local Sainsbury's - might not be a bad idea actually. It would cut out some of the hassles of food shopping.
2) Sainsbury's isn't a safe place?

Ah well, I suppose it makes a change from my (non-existent) front porch being a safe place to leave packages...

I’ve just cancelled an order from Lakeland because Evri have had it at their depot for over a week and there’s no way of knowing when they intend to deliver it. I’m going away tomorrow for a while and there’s nowhere that they can leave it safely. I have been told that even though it’s been cancelled Evri might still deliver it and leave it somewhere. Don’t have neighbours to leave it with. And there’s no way of speaking to Evri, they don’t even seem to have a customer service department to contact.

Evri has, up to now, been OK here, so I haven't had to try to contact them. It's impossible to get hold of the Yodel depot and you can only use the webchat (pretty useless). I believe other companies are as bad.

Chucking things over the gate seems to be becoming the norm. I found some (boxed) flowers thrown over and left at the hinge end where they would have been squashed as I opened the gate. there was plenty of room the other end...

I think customer service departments are a thing of the past. I refused a delivery from Tool Station as the paint had leaked all over the postie’s van. It took three complaints, two FB messages and two further nudges before they replied. Still not had my money back. Tesco only use What’s App now and John Lewis seem to disappear into the ether.

Because I sometimes don’t want to start a new thread about something if I do a search and find that someone else has had a problem that I missed first time round. Had it been a thread from a long time ago I would have started a new thread but it was since Hermes changed it’s name. I have found recently that the way to chase things up is to go onto Facebook and mention the problem via messenger) I had an instant response from Lakeland) but there is no way of contacting Evri other than through bots.

I had a delivery from Evri yesterday. They do provide tracking, but it said they had received it early last week. Then I received a scam text saying they’d tried to deliver it. Tweeted about poor service on Monday and it was suddenly on its way.

Ive had the same Hermes/Avri delivery lady for years and she or her son use their own car and know their patch like the back of their hand. The only time I had problems was when they were isolating with covid last christmas/new year and there was a stand in driver (as I later learned). S/he left packages outside my gate addressed for other people in the area which I could not take round as I am mobility impaired and dont drive. I had to get my nephew to deliver them. If that ever happens again I am simply going to leave them there until they get stolen or removed by the binmen as I am not a parcel delivery service.

Evri ave now lost my cancelled order and normally I wouldn’t normally get a refund until the item had been returned to the seller. Thankfully someone from Lakeland is looking into it for me.

Just to praise Evri. Ordered an article from Amazon on Firday night. Saturday afternoon, turned out I did not need this, tried to cancel, but was too late, it was on its way to me . Delivered on Sunday, immediately clicked on cancel object on Amazon and they sent me the QR code. Took package and and that email to Evri parcel collection in local shop Monday morning, lovely lady there sorted it all out for me and gave me receipt. Monday afternoon had confirmation from amazon of my rebate for full amount. Could not ask for better customer service.

We’ll blow me. Lakeland reimbursed me but today, completely out of the blue Evri found my order and delivered it!

I told Lakeland what had happened. They said one order turned up after three months! I’ve said that as it’s been delivered to another address I won’t know if it’s working ok ( it might have gone all over the place over the past few weeks) till I get to use it. I’ll then contact them and they can charge me again.
