Have they gone completely daffy? No more daffodils

I must say the daffodils have been glorious this year and some of mine are still in flower a month on.

It's a shame that they don't last as long when they are picked and in a vase, from bud to withered in a few days.

My DD used to call Daffodils Prance a Dills and they were in the garden with the paterkillers and woodmouses her words not mine. She also liked a laster plaster when she fell and scuffed her knees.

and don't they smell horrid when they wither? I prefer to buy pots of dwarf narcissus for the house instead, they last so much longer and can go outside for next year when finished!

I had hyacinths indoors this year and they smelt lovely but didn't last as long as I'd hoped. They'll be going out in the garden bed with all the others from previous years.

Im trying to resist tying up the miniature daffy leaves in the tubs at the front

I’ve just bought three bunches of daffodils from M+S. I’m going to eat them put them in a vase and enjoy looking at them.

When I first moved here we went to a popular play park with the children.

I was surprised to see a laburnum tree in the children's area, and another mother told me a child had returned to his Mum to tell her 'the green peas' had made him feel sick! Luckily a doctor was present with his child.

Yes, I knew some children who had to go to have their stomachs pumped after ingesting laburnum seeds. Not my child, luckily, she hadn't gone round to play with them that day because we went out.
They were all ok, luckily.

Callistemon21 yes when looking up for information child it include pets., which is another future plan.

We all must have poisonous plants lurking in our gardens. I suppose they have been brought from lots of countries and they knew they are poisonous and we just appreciated the beautiful flowers. Near us we have a lot of Lilly of the valley and I'm sure someone told me it was as well. I must look that one up as the smell attracts the gd's.

My mamma told me most plants are poisonous especially berries. I told my children the same and they in turn have told their children and their children have told their children. Something mammals do.

I hope Cornwall’s council plants something else instead for the community to enjoy. Maybe swathes of wild flowers?

Narcissus pseudonarcissus (commonly known as wild daffodil or Lent lily) (Welsh: Cennin Pedr) is a perennial flowering plant.

Better not go to the Isles of Scilly as they grow narcissi and daffodils in abundance. Dd had a beautiful bunch sent to me for Mothering Sunday. It didn’t cross her mind I might be tempted to eat them! Their scent was absolutely gorgeous.

Btw all daffodils are narcissi but not all narcissi are daffodils.

My mother in law used to tell a story about finding my husband sitting happily in the garden with half a slug on his bib. (he was a child - it wasn't recently!)
