Oh Lucca so sorry to hear! No you are not vain, we all want to look our best when out. So do wear your wig if that’s what you want or scarves and hats as others suggested. Some people may prefer to show the ‘GI Jane’ look, it just depends. So whatever you prefer it’s fine. All the best.

Lucca, I'm so touched by your bravery. Your spirit shines through. We are all a little concerned about how we look, it's natural. You're not vain.
A friend of mine lost her hair through chemo and she loved some little triangular colourful cotton headscarves which we found online. She said they were more comfortable than a wig.

Sod the hair, wear your bare head with the pride of a strong woman, wear lovely soft scarves that match your outfit and drape your shoulder like a pony tail, wear brightly coloured turbans that reflect your happiness in your sons and gc and a life well lived.
Wear that expensive wig and buy two more in different colours if you fancy, in fact do everything you fancy. You go girl, we’re all with you.

The seller actually asked for your head measurement and made them to order, and they were reasonably priced, too.

Lucca I've met people at the hospital who have lost all their hair through treatments and have not bothered with a wig at all but I couldn't be that brave or confident.

It did seem that some thought they might not lose all their hair as it got thinner but then it would suddenly be gone.
No, it's not vain at all but thank goodness the wigs are so much better and more natural now and there is more choice (not necessarily the NHS ones).

So sorry to hear about your diagnosis. It isn't vanity - it is having pride in your appearance and there is nothing wrong with that! Feel free to come here and rant and ramble as much as you like - sometimes it is easier to "talk" to strangers than it is to family and we are here for you.

I sometimes wear a silk bonnet in bed (not as stupid as it sounds)
It feels lovely.

My dad’s wife has lost almost all of her hair and now wears wigs.

If I were in that situation I’d wear a silk bonnet around the house etc.

I’ve recommended them to her (she probably hasn’t taken me up on it though!)

It also looks quite glamorous in a golden age of Hollywood way.

I know, to a lesser extent, how you feel about your hair, it’s not vanity, and so what if it is?
My hair started thinning when I went through an early menopause, I was devastated. A couple of years later I met a woman who had lost most of her hair through chemo, she shaved the rest off and wore headbands, the wide twisty ones from Oliver Bonas and boy did she look glamorous.

The only family member with red curly hair which I hated. I stood out from others it added to my personality with the usual stereotypes feisty etc. Its white now and I look like every other senior lady I miss the attention my hair used to get. Vanity helps shape your personality and makes you the person you are. I hope you have extra time and continue to contribute here as long as you can. ?

Oh Lucca I'm so sorry. I realise I'm fortunate not to have cancer but I have lost all my hair due to alopecia as I have gone on about many times on here.
I under estimated the effect it would have on me. It's devastating. You are not at all vain. Be kind to yourself.
