Another one to be wary of is a company called 'Rethink Energy'.

I answered the phone to this yesterday. A man with a quite stern authoritive voice answered and said the company name, checked my post code and said that there records showed that we had very high energy consumption. At some time he implied that his enquiry was sanctioned by my energy supplier. My mind was racing throughout this call and raising all kinds of queries, so when he started talking about assessments and grants. I just said thank you and goodbye.

I googled the name - and they have a flashy website, but when you try to read it, it is all flannel and actually says very little and is very vague. Probably to try and pull the wool over the eyes of people like me, who google their name to see if they have a site.

When I went to this site who-called.co.uk/Number/01384685219/activity-map . Other people, all round the country were reporting everything I sampled the authorotive middle-aged white male voice, the inference that the company were working with my fuel supplier, that my energy consumption was high.

So if you get this call do not be fooled by the slightly dominating male making the call.

I haven't had that, but yesterday I had a Wangiri call. I noticed it was a +44 number and knew that meant International, so I ignored it, then googled the number.
It's a known scam www.ofcom.org.uk/phones-telecoms-and-internet/advice-for-consumers/scams/advice-wangiri-missed-call-scams
They left me a voicemail AS WELL, which I deleted without listening to. I am very careful who I answer the phone to and always look at the caller display to check before answering.

There seems to be so many scams! Another good reason to keep getting our eyes checked! Anyone with poor eyesight and a bit lonely would probably have answered the phone eagerly and got charged a lot of money.

I’ve had this call too - from a Glasgow number. Yet another ‘scam’.

I was selected because I was over seventy; (eighty to start with), and living alone, which I didn't like the sound of.

Someone phoned me a week or so ago, trying to flog the same sort of thing. But apparently it was ‘free’! Was I over 50?
Yes, but I don’t need one of those yet, thanks, bye bye.

This one is new to me; apologies if you are familiar with it.
A lengthy phone call telling me I can buy the 'mandatory 'panic button as insisted on by the NHS, for the bargain one-off payment of £189 to the Emergency Alert Service UK.
'Simon ' was phoning from 'Wurry' England, spelt Warwick and he was very offended when I laughed at his pronunciation.
