Good Morning Sunday 10th April 2022

Good morning all from a sunny Algarve, quite a few clouds but at the moment still a sunny and peaceful Palm Sunday.

Our garden birds have returned with the sun, yesterday I got DH to put some water in the bird bowl which is on an old tree stump. We don’t put food out because of rats but try to make sure that there is water for them when it’s dry. Within minutes there were about five young azure winged magpies flocked round it. I don’t like them as they scare away the other birds but can’t help appreciating their beauty. When they were safely out of the way I noticed a small blue tit thoroughly enjoying his outdoor bath, brrrr.

Another sign of wildlife we’ve noticed is that wild boar have definitely been at work in one of the fields. I’ll try to get a photo when I can. I’ve never actually seen one but one of our neighbours has met one single one while both were enjoying an early morning stroll.

Good morning Mick and everyone. It’s cold and bright in my corner of Lancashire this morning, currently 7°C.

Yesterday disappeared somehow, I didn’t feel very well and slept a lot. I’m feeling better today so hope I can get on with neglected chores.

Lovely to read of all the gardens and songbirds today, a sign that warmer days are ahead.

It's once again a bright morning here in West Yorkshire .We went for a walk yesterday which was cut short due to hail and rain .Bed changing today one job I hate .oh is doing some touch up painting .looking forward to watching Gentleman Jack. this evening .

Good morning Mick, Annie and all. Haven't felt up to posting recently, apart from always being too late to join in before lunch time!
Today I am to have a CT scan, and wonder why the NHS sends multiple e-letters, reminding you of the appointment. I have had 4 for the one due today. Also, another 3 for one due later in the month.
I will miss the Palm Sunday service, which is a shame, but over the years have collected many palms that were given out.
On Friday, we had the bathroom thermostatic valve replaced. The dishwasher, which I thought needed a service call, at vast expense, £269.00 for all labour and parts, didn't need a visit after all. I found a tea bag over the drain, which had caused the water to overflow. Then I broke a small glass. Could find nothing like them in the shops, apart from a charity shop, where I found a set of 6 for £4.00. What more to come?
Glad that GrandMattie sounds more upbeat, and hope that she can find something to entice her DH to eat.
Marydoll is also sounding more like herself.
We have a flock of goldfinches that sometimes visit our front garden, but don't have any feeders. I am afraid of attracting rats.
I wonder if some people are immune to the Covid virus? My mum never caught chicken pox from her sister, or from our children when she stayed with us.
My poor nasturtium seeds, have got very leggy. I left them in the shed and forgot them, so I don't know if they will survive.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny Northampton. Nothing planned for today,.so I shall stay in with my cold and feel sorry for myself. Still feeling very snuffly, and have done another LFT which is negative like yesterday's.

I think I shall cancel my activities for the next few days just in case. I have dentist, hairdresser and blood pressure appointments on Tuesday and Wednesday, and think I had better stay away.

Papers to read today, puzzles and knitting to do, and also a.book to read for book club, so have plenty to keep me busy.

Good morning all from sunny W Kent. Quiet day, DS and DIL with children have crossed safely to France and DD has in laws for the weekend. We shall do a walk later and enjoy the sun.
A small bird has just flown by the window with a huge stick in its beak, nest building going on somewhere!

Good morning from a frosty Black Country, but with a bright blue sky.

Made a start yesterday in preparing for our few days away to the caravan on Monday, which is stored in Burnham on Sea.
DS and family will be there in their caravan as they travelled down yesterday.

I too have a recurring dream. It involves me trying to hand in my notice at work, but I always seem to miss the deadline and have to carry on for another month. I wake up feeling very down. Until I realise I have been retired almost 5 years!

Hope you avoid Covid Marydoll I know a few families where only one person caught it and didn't pass it on to others.

I’m pleased to say I’ve dozens of birds, big and small here - fed regularly.
Still have DD2s dogs with me to give them a big longer to unpack/get sorted/deal with jet lag.
A very quiet weekend for me - a bit of gardening and some laundry for DD2.
Thinking of others troubled by worries and poor health.

Good morning everyone. I haven’t posted on this thread for a while now but have kept up with all the news.
Been ver y busy with craft clubs, WI and various meet ups. Seen lots of my DGSs and the rest of the family. So far have kept well apart from my usual aches and pains. I feel very lucky.
Two of my DDs , a Son in Law and 2 DGSs have had covid recently but now recovered or in the case of DD2 feeling a lot better than a few days ago.
My thoughts as always go to all of you who are struggling with poor health and other problems. I hope better weather will help to make things feel brighter.

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle. You may have been wise to stay home yesterday Mick, I went out early to the garden centre and got chilled to the marrow walking round outside looking for plants. I was wearing my down jacket too.
Today, a bit of lighter gardening. I'm going to plant my sprouted potatoes and prepare some ground for sowing peas. After that, who knows? The forecast is for cloud in the afternoon and that's been the routine for the last few days. I have the weekend papers to finish off and a new book to continue.

Good Morning from the Scottish Borders. It is cold again and I have probably sown seeds too early. especially tomatoes
I have given up with my bird feeder. I bought a super "squirrel proof" one but the jackdaws are too clever and have found a way of getting all the seed and leaving nothing for the small birds.
There are plenty of small birds anyway so they must find plenty to eat, I just don't get to watch them.

The electrician/handyman is supposed to be back today to finish the kitchen. I am not holding my breath.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where we have a lovely sunny start to the day. Our usual Sunday here - my stepfather is joking us for lunch. I’m making his favourite of roasted gammon and potatoes with (trays of tin foil) cauliflower cheese.

I will add peas for colour. I’m artistic that way. We will have our usual drink in the bar downstairs first. We are creatures of habit.

Nothing much to report really, most covid symptoms have gone, just weariness left, but I slept very well last night.
We get few birds in the garden, rats discourage bird feeders, a small tree in a neighbours garden attracts all the small birds we can watch from the back garden.

Home from my holiday and the house is very quiet after being with the family.
I went to read my emails last night and found a one which was literally a blackmail threat, they were demanding £500 in bitcoin. I hope others do not experience this vile message involving port.
DD said she will visit this afternoon and take me shopping.
My thoughts are with grandMattie, it is extremely difficult to find food that is tempting for the poorly one. I used to get out all my tiny pastry cutters and make bite size sandwiches or toast with a teaspoonful of scrambled egg on top. I found chilled, tinned fruit good too. I would serve one piece of pear or peach with a spoonful of ice cream.

We are having a wonderful break in Cornwall, fabulous cottage situated very remotely on its own, in acres of woodland. Weather was warm and sunny all day yesterday, lots of walking along beautiful beaches and eating delicious food outside. Just what we needed, and hoping for similar today.

Good morning all from a sunny but cold central Herts.
Am now back here after an extended trip to Turkey, we went for one but ended up staying over two months.
It was a good trip generally apart from one or two mishaps, the main one my having slipped and falling down in the snow, when I sprained my shoulder which has been quite painful. Am having an xray tomorrow just to check before having physio.
I didn't bother too much initially as it didn't seem too bad, just took painkillers etc.
While abroad I've been able to read posts but I couldn't post.

It is sunny with blue sky here in S E Essex.

I got through yesterday with only a few tears and a chat with my darling sister. It was the fifth anniversary of our Mums death, she died on Palm Sunday, it was a bright sunny day then also.

Off out for a late Sunday lunch,

Why do photos never appear the first time?!

Good morning Mick, morning all from chilly East Renfrewshire.

I spent a fair amount of time yesterday playing in the garden with DGS where he found a few little icy puddles and had huge fun throwing the ice onto the deck to watch it shatter into pieces. Simple pleasures.

His parents and siblings are due home this evening so this is our last day here.

Thanks for the empathy yesterday about my vertigo. I do take betahistamine, so perhaps it would be worse otherwise. Who knows, it’s just a pest but nothing compared to the health issues many others have to contend with. I’m counting my blessings.

You may well continue to evade the virus Marydoll I know of a few households where not everyone was infected.

Good morning on this Palm Sunday from East Yorkshire. It is a beautiful blue sky I can see from my window.

Another quiet day for us yesterday. In the morning I spotted on a local Facebook page that there was an Easter craft fair just up the road. So after lunch we had a gentle walk up there. I bought a couple of bits - an Easter wreath and some knitted ducks that have a chocolate egg in them. I already have an Easter wreath that is on the front door but couldn’t resist this one. I have put it in the living room instead.

No plans for today we just take each day as it comes. We may see the family as yesterday was a day of football for DS so didn’t get to see them. DH is getting better each day but not overdoing it.

Family day today for DGS2 7th birthday. Bringing numbers 1 and 3 home afterwards for a sleepover so DD1 can work tomorrow.

I am usually lost or abandoned in my dreams Gaga!

We live next to a big park where the birds prefer to live but we do get strays like tits, finches, robins, magpies, pigeons,starlings,ducks and a beautiful green woodpecker who loves to peck at the lawns.

Yesterday I didn't recognise myself, I was so industrious. Housework and washing all done. I cleaned everything that couldn't move! I weeded too and made a pear and almond streusel cake.
Today I am meeting a friend for coffee and cake later. I haven't seen her for a while so much blethering will be done. Then home and biscuits to make that I had been going to make last night but couldn't be bothered. I have Easter/spring cutters so I'll see how they get on. Lambs, chickens etc. Roast chicken for dinner later. Have a good day all.
