I do wish I liked coffee!

Just that really.

Everyone seems to thoroughly enjoy a nice cup of coffee. It's an excuse to meet friends and I even have one lovely friend who sends me photos of fabulous looking lattes (I think!) with designs in the froth grin

I do wish I could be part of the club!!

What makes you feel like that?

I like coffee and tea equally. We have very strong coffee with milk from our Sage machine, needed to wake me up, followed by a second cup mid morning. Then a mix of Yorkshire loose leaf and Earl grey in the afternoon. I take a cup of ginger tea to bed.

I eat and drink absolutely anything and everything that is legally available for human consumption; often much too quickly and usually in larger quantities than are strictly good for me - and generally enjoy it all immensely. Burrrp!

I love iced coffee in summer

I wish I liked alcohol. I can only drink in small quantities and sometimes I just can’t cope with it at all and have to have a soft drink. I don’t want to drink a lot but would just like to have a couple when out with friends. I can drink only rose wine or weak gin and tonic. Anything else goes to my head very quickly and makes me feel unwell.

I always think raw parsnips smell like boot polish.

I do love roast parsnips though.

BigBertha1 Thu 14-Apr-22 22:20:26

Can I just say how much I detest beetroot and parsnips.

what’s wrong with these people, haven’t they ever heard of chocolate?

Yes, but not with mashed potatoes!?

I'm going to raid the DGC's Easter bunnies in a minute.

Mashed potatoes. The mere thought of it makes me grue.

I know I’m in the minority though. I’ve even heard it described as ‘comfort food’, what’s wrong with these people, haven’t they ever heard of chocolate?

Have you noticed how a TV drama will show a middle class couple in a designer kitchen pouring coffee from a cafetière whereas a working class family will be, ‘having a brew?’

I like both BTW.

My DC have these new fangled coffee machines but we drink instant blush
Mine's Douwe and Egberts.

Oh love a cup of tea and a nice bit of madeira cake ?

Coffee smells lovely but I can't bear the taste of it.

For most of my life I have never liked the taste of coffee, but always envied my friends saying " fancy going for a coffee " .It somehow seemed like a nice social meet up ,while i felt boring ordering my pot of tea.
Then at the age of about 60 yrs I discovered Makote caramel latte - oh my goodness! I'm converted !
Although it is only the caramel one I like .

Coffee during the day for me, alternating caffeinated with decaffeinated, cup of tea to watch 'The Chase' at 5.
Coffee and walnut cake is my favourite, and I love a chocolate with a cup of coffee.

However I'm with Chrissielou with the hot milk - have hated it since I was small and even now don't like custard or rice pudding. Shame as Mr lixy loves both, so he waits patiently until the GC's visit and shares with them.

LauraNorderr Thu 14-Apr-22 20:54:17

Strong black coffee for me first thing, then decaf all day. I really don’t like standard tea. If I’m in a nice tea shoppe I’ll order a pot of camomile or peppermint tea, that always seems more sophisticated to me than coffee and goes so well with cake.
I do enjoy a nice mocha if I’m in Costa, a rare occurrence.
Eggs have to be like bullets for me, can’t bear the runny stuff, even just typing it makes me queasy.

I don't like poached eggs either, too much possibility of under done, wobbly white!

Oh yes, wobbly white and that wiggly bit in it …eeugh!

Tea first thing but coffee with my breakfast, coffee at 11.00, water with my lunch sometimes followed by coffee, tea in the afternoon and wine with supper (usually red). For me it's all about the time of day and what (if anything) I am eating.

nandad Thu 14-Apr-22 19:55:01

Don’t like coffee, love tea. Used to be that I only drank coffee when we were out as I could drink bad coffee but not bad tea. Following covid, although I don’t have a sense of taste or smell, coffee triggers a repulsive aroma that smells like rotting vegetation. Can’t wait for the day when I can taste tea and a rich tomato sauce again.

Chrissielou Thu 14-Apr-22 19:10:15

I am a real coffee fan (hate instant) but absolutely detest boiled milk so have to have it with a dash of cold milk. So don't like latte, cappuccino or anything fancy like that. We went to Costa Rica a few years ago and were in coffee heaven grin.

Lovetopaint037 Thu 14-Apr-22 18:55:24

I drink decaffeinated coffee and Earl Gray Tea (Twinings do a very nice decaffeinated one). I have an overactive bladder so decaffeinated suits me. Can’t stand Indian tea but love Twinings Earl Gray ( not other makes).

I think the way coffee has been marketed in the last 15 years or so (Starbucks started the fancy coffee trend) has made it appealing. I love coffee, but basic brewed coffee with a spash of milk. It amazes me that people pay so much for a cup of coffee. It is nice though to meet a friend and have a nice latte.

There are some fancy tea shops, but for some reason they haven't caught on in the same way, and I think for those shops it's more about the baking than the actual tea.

Maybe tea lovers could start with complicated tea orders and start a new trend.

'I'll have a Ceylon Black Tea with 4 drops of lemon juice and 1/2 teaspoon of organic Muscovado sugar, please.'

I would love to like coffee but can’t stand it. The smell though is wonderful. DH drinks it strong and black. When we are away and people are sat round drinking espresso I think I’d love to join in. I’m a huge tea fan.
DH wishes he liked olives.

rafichagran Thu 14-Apr-22 18:32:22

I love tea and coffee, have to have tea in the morning, and coffee lunch time.

Chocolatelovinggran Thu 14-Apr-22 18:22:33

Coffee hasn't tasted the same since the changes in my taste buds during my first pregnancy. He's forty five in a few weeks..

AreWeThereYet Thu 14-Apr-22 16:36:27

I was brought up on tea - we never had coffee in the house. Now I drink coffee more than tea. Nothing like a mug of tea early in the morning though. I'll drink either when out.

Blossoming I can't eat tomatoes either - we call them 'squidgies' in this house. MrA loves the small cherry tomatoes and I often look at them and think how nice they look but then the thought of putting them in my mouth and biting them makes me retch ?

Sago Thu 14-Apr-22 15:25:30

I am proud to be a tea drinker only!
Good old fashioned “ builders” tea.
Yorkshire or Barrie’s are my favourite.
