Although not religious, I am agnostic so have an open mind, I do believe I have a guardian angel. I was in full blown alcoholism from the age of 15 to 28 when I went to AA and got sober, I can remember some things that happened to me during those years but a lot I cannot, just some flashbacks but I really think I am living on borrowed time and should’ve been dead a long time ago, I’ve put myself in very very dangerous situations over those years. The one thing I could not get my head around in AA was a God who apparently looked after drunks, well not all of them a lot of people die drunk a lot more than get sober. Also this higher Power that apparently looked after me, why didn’t it look after a 16-year-old girl who was cutting through the park to get home and she was raped and murdered why was she not saved by her higher Power? Anyway for those reasons I do believe I do have a guardian angel and I think it could probably be my aunt May who used to tell me she used to pray for me and luckily I was sober when she died at the age of 88 actually on her 88th birthday… And very controversially I don’t see alcoholism as a disease, No one held me down and poured drink down my throat and I knew what would happen when I got drunk but I continued to do it. Cancer is a disease, my brother died from it in 2003 at the age of 49 and I still feel guilty about that and feel I should’ve been the one that died not him, he was such a good man. Anyway to the main point of this thread, do you think you have a guardian angel?
MissAdventure, I wish I knew and for me it wasn't all the time.
MissAdventure
No, I don't.
I'm not sure why some people would have one, and others not.
I'd expect the supernatural realm to at least have some sense of justice.
I'm a Catholic and we believe everyone has guardian angel.
Sara1954
I don’t think I have one, but if I can I will keep a special watch on my grandchildren when the time comes.
I agree Sara. I would love to be able to continue to protect my DGS after I'm gone.
Nope.
Yes. And when I'm gone I hope to carry that on.
MissAdventure
I'm not being facetious, but for people who believe they have a guardian, what kind of a being is it?
A family member, or a supernatural being of some kind?
How can anyone know? But I believe it's a family member as it makes sense that an ancestor would look after you. They have a vested interest in your welfare and would want to protect and guide you. As to why some people have tragic lives or die young I don't know the answer, but there is so much we don't understand because we only see the world around us.
Yes, that would make sense, to someone who believes.
MissAdventure I think you are now trying to work out who it could be. Try talking to them, it is good to be in touch with your guardian ??
I never knew my dad's mum as she died before I was born but I strongly feel that she is my Guardian Angel and looks out for me. I feel she is just behind my right shoulder and I am very glad that she chose me to protect. I hope I meet her one day
I agree with all the posters that say we really don't know what this life is all about ..... but I truly believe that it all becomes obvious when we die.

I'll have go, and report back.
I'm sure my scepticism will get in the way, though.
If something happens in your life and you wonder why then maybe it will be explained later on. I believe everything happens for a reason, although it's not always clear what that is at the time.
Well if I do you can be sure he is on strike!!
Shinamae, you shouldn't feel guilty about your brother's death but I'm so sorry. You should feel proud of what you have achieved in giving up alcohol and following another path. Your family seems close to you and that is something precious - guardians or no guardians
Since i can remember i have had a red indian with his wolf around me at times when i have felt i needed comfort, strange but true.
I firstly noticed when i was about 5 years old.
Do you actually 'see' the red indian, or is it a sense of a presence?
I think mine went into retirement the day I was born.
It’d be nice to think so, but no, I don’t.
But if I did have one, what would I have done to deserve it, when perfectly nice people I know suffer one stroke of rotten bad luck after another?
I would have thought my mum might have come back to carry on interfering in my life.
(Sorry, mother - just in case she is around)
maybe she is your next door neighbour?
I definitely think my Mum looks over me. I had a very difficult time in 2019 but I came through it thanks to prayer and my guardian angel.
I 100% do have a guardian Angel. And every day I say thanks for the good in my life.
A very strong sense of presence Miss A.
It`s very comforting tbh.
I’d love to think I could be one for dds and Gdcs after I’m gone, but if you have to submit a CV with your job application to St Peter or whoever it is, I’m not sure he’d be over impressed.
Oh most definitely, I know I have a guardian angel and a spirit guide. They look after me, help me make decisions, pont me to the path that is my fate. I never feel lonely because of them
I was very interested in the spiritual side of Guardian Angels until about 7-8 years ago and have many small angel figurines, angel books, and the angel oracle cards for inspiration and guidance. I have passed from that phase although I still like to get out my angel cards and just hold them and look through them which brings me a sense of peace. I follow my Catholic religion and when I go to church I always feel a subtle presence close to me. I like to believe there are angels around even though as you have said many awful things do happen in this world.
Shinamae you did well getting to AA and getting sober and for you there was a Higher power/spiritual being or whatever name you wish to give to it that was there for you and congratulations on your sobriety.
I know a little bit about AA and the 12 step program and think all those who go to AA to stop drinking is commendable and one thing about your post I found refreshing was how you said controversially that you did not see alcoholism as a disease. I was talking to someone I know that attends AA and also thought when she keeps saying that alcoholism is a disease that many have and need help. I agree with you because some people will drink and keep pouring it down their throats they are not forced to do this by anyone they do it themselves.
Point of the thread anyway yes I do believe in guardian angels and am sure you have one.
