It is. It’s not a corruption though. It’s a common word in the US.
It was the answer to a NYT crossword clue the other day. It’s a noun

I wonder if NYTs is still using all 2500 odd words Mr Wardle put into the program.
They’ll last till 2027 so we could we get more like this.
