Loo advice please

I live in London a hard water area and use Parazone it works a treat my loo has no limescale in it. They do say a bottle of cola works but I’ve never needed to try it.

A dishwasher tablet is apparently good,just leave it to soak,overnight would be ideal.

HG Toilet Cleaner Gel will tackle those rim to waterline stains, apply, leave overnight, scrub off, reapply leave and scrub, two or three goes should do it. In days past when living in Army quarters, I dealt with this by sitting on the floor in the bathroom, removing water from the u-bend with a ladle and then scraping the scale off with a knife!! It worked very well and was actually not as difficult as it sounds!

A pumice stone will remove tough limescale without scratching porcelain. I tend to use hot vinegar on a rag to soak any heavily stained areas.

get Harpic 100% Limescale remover! the blue bottle that staes on bottle 100% limescale remover....... plunge most of the water out of the loo then pour loads down and leave overnight...like new in the morning! does what it says on the bottle!
done this when daughter moved into new flat and the loo was grey with limescale

Lots of good advice above about getting rid of the scale. then once you have, you really need to stay on top of it. I suggest either one of those blocks in the cistern, or putting one of the descalers overnight every night!
I have lived near that area and the scale is awful! We have a rainwater harvester now - no scale, but soetimes it looks rather green!

PS: assuming you are on mains sewage, otherwise it's another story!

I also live in Herts, the limescale is the hardest in the country as far as I'm aware. Over the years I've used everything you can imagine to keep the loo stain free with only very hard work doing the job, using various cleaners and of course the ubiquitous pumice stone

However I found this, and it's been an absolute game changer. I was extremely sceptical but because it's cheap I thought I may as well try it.

Definitely Viakal - the liquid not the spray.

Have you tried white vinegar? I've found it much more effective than bleach on really stubborn stains.

I’m also a fan of white vinegar. I use it for loads of jobs, As well as the loo I use it in the washing machine instead if fabric softener, cleans windows better than anything else, kills weeds without dangerous chemicals. Descales the kettle when mixed with bicarbonate if soda and countless other jobs. Cheap too.

I tried Coca Cola, cistern went brown and took ages to clean. Bleach is not a limescale remover. Viakal oe similar is good, possibly bicarbonate of soda if you want to be greener.

She has all sorts of natural remedies and her limescale one is called Pure Magic. Basically it is citric acid and it works.

We live in the same area and we had a water softener installed. Although the initial outlay cost more, we have saved money because we don’t have to use strong cleaners or limescale removers.

Half an hour ago, ordered three packets of Citric Acid. Accolades to the above who recommended the product.

White vinegar mixed with soda crystals. Leave overnight then flush. Maybe a quick brush too

I live in Essex and the water is exceptionally hard, I have found the only thing that comes close is a product from Turkey called Porcoz
