Urmstongran Sun 24-Apr-22 08:38:59

Well, we’ve arrived!

Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s a gorgeous sunny start to the day. I’m sat in bed with a cuppa having just put a wash load on from when we were last out, to take advantage of our ‘free electric’ time on our utility tariff. You have to believe me when I tell you Himself is already in just a pair of shorts, cleaning the windows on the balcony!
?
The Sahara sand-dump on the windows and railings, our front door and gate has to be seen to be believed! I’ve never in 18 years of coming out ever seen it this bad.

I took a photo but for some reason it’s not uploaded yet. I’ll share with you later.

I could write one of Marydoll’s novellas this morning but will just share this .... we were on the plane at Manchester airport on an Easyjet flight, just taxiing along the runway in the afternoon sunshine when a female passenger further back from us started haranguing the cabin crew. Within minutes she became abusive, swearing at them and shouting. A senior cabin crew member was called and within minutes she went into the cockpit. Upshot was within minutes the plane circled back, security and 2 tactical Police officers came on board and escorted Ms. Argy Bargy from the plane. Zero tolerance and quite right. This could have escalated and, as Himself said, we might have been an hour into the flight and had to land at say Bristol with much more of a kerfuffle.

I can only imagine your tiredness and acute anxiety this morning grandMattie for your dear man. My heart goes out to you both.

‘Seize the day’ indeed as you remind us.

We are meeting neighbours over from Birmingham for dinner tonight. G&Ts first in Pedro’s. They’ve been out a week and fly back on Tuesday morning so we hit the ground running regarding socialising! Himself has the Italian Grand Prix to watch first so he’s living his best life today! Enjoy Sunday all who can.

Oh , PS (does this woman even know how to be succinct?) how wonderful you’re in Portugal seeing your sons momb what a joyous meet up!

Good morning from the Lake District.new are still here for our wedding anniversary and back home later. Have missed being at home and just littering about funny really when at home dream about gadding about! We’ve enjoyed our stay but will have to leave soon as Monday looms and work getting nearer. Hotel is lovely but everything so expensive a catch up after covid? Have a good day all!

Good morning Mick and everyone from a rather cloudy Carlisle where the sun pops out now and again. It's dry, the threatening showers yesterday stayed upstairs so in the end it was out with the hose on my new plantings. Everything's bursting into leaf and bloom and my peas are coming up.
I've nothing definite planned for the day, just a bit of this and that. There's plenty of ways to spend my time. I might try putting something small into the garden....digging hasn't been banned but the prolapse is causing me some anxiety about doing physical stuff.
How hard for you grandMattie, seeing your loved one suffer. I do hope he can be helped today, my thoughts are with you.

And the best possible day to everyone.

Good Morning everyone from breezy Severnside.

First thing I’m off to a nearby garden centre then I’ll be pottering in the garden. While I’m out I might go for bluebell ride. Lots of photos are being posted on social media.

I planted my tomatoes and gave a shrub a very serious trim yesterday. I have a plan!

Have the best day you can all ?

Best wishes to all.

Good morning everyone from a very sunny Northampton, just up the road from Mick in Brackley. Have just fed the DGDs sausage butties for breakfast, and they are waiting for their mum to come and pick them up.

Yesterday was fine and dry, but a chilly wind, and the DGDs sat in the summerhouse while I cut the back grass. Also managed a bit more weeding and forked over the borders. Then watered everything.

We had a lovely roast chicken, followed by ice-cream for dinner. Enough chicken left over for sandwiches and an evening meal for me tomorrow.

I'm off to the cinema this afternoon to see 'Operation Mincemeat', a WW2 drama, starring Colin Firth. It's based on a true story, and looks very good.

Hope we all enjoy a peaceful Sunday.

Nannagarra Sun 24-Apr-22 09:11:42

Hoping for an improvement and that you receive the help you need grandMattie.

Good Morning from a sunny and still breezy south coast. 12.3c.

I was late to the coal face this morning as I got waylaid with a domestic issue. Now sorted.

So sorry your DH had a setback gM after his enjoyable trip out with family. Just hope the Hospice are available to help. You are carrying a big burden and need support. flowers

There is an art trail here today with many places/homes available to visit where local artists show (and sell) their art. DD and DSiL are going to try and get round a lot of them and may call in later for a cuppa as they pass us on the route. We'll see if they make it. I am expecting her to buy some art for the flat as she continues to make it theirs.

Glad you arrived safely in Malaga Urms. What a nincompoop that female was, causing such mayhem as the flight started. Glad it was before you were airborne though and she could be extracted.

You must be pleased that your holiday home was in good nick Ash. Are you planning a stay there soon?

Hope the day is a good one for us all and worries and cares ease. sunshine

Good morning all from bright and sunny South Lanarkshire.

I’m late and haven’t yet read the thread, I’ll catch up later.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning everyone from Co Armagh where the sun is
“ bustin out all over” as the song says !
gM I’m so sad to read about your bad night , it is so hard to see your husband in pain ?? that the Hospice can help

harrigran Sun 24-Apr-22 09:49:09

Good morning from a sunny NE ?
It is a week since I was in contact with BIL and covid and I appear to have escaped this time, thank heavens.
Family came yesterday afternoon and what a delight, GDs had been clothes shopping and were wearing everything new even the shoes.
While I was preparing dinner I noticed a bit of the garden bench had fallen off so DS went out with the tool box and fixed it. Not the kind of job you want to call a handyman for, only took ten minutes.
I believe DD may be returning home to Brussels tomorrow, I hope SIL is well enough to cope on his own.
Sorry to hear your DH's pain was bad again gM, hope the hospice get it sorted. It is extremely distressing to watch a loved one in pain.
Good you arrived safely Urmston, hate it when you get sweary, shouting people on a plane, some are not very ladylike nowadays.
Enjoy your Sunday those out and about.

Urmstongran Sun 24-Apr-22 10:06:51

You can imagine what the windows are like. Operation Spring Clean is underway!

Urmstongran Sun 24-Apr-22 10:10:42

I fancy ‘Operation Mincemeat’ too BlueSapphire it gets good reviews. I plan to watch it on Netflix. It’s scheduled there on 12th May. I made a note on my calendar!

Urmstongran Sun 24-Apr-22 10:13:30

I promise to post less tomorrow. Oh dear, just seen how much I’ve monopolised the thread this morning!

Good morning Mick and everyone. It’s sunny in my corner of Lancashire, currently 11°C. I can hear the wind but it’s less noisy than yesterday.

No real plans for today, other than bacon butties for brunch and a catchup on the Sunday newspapers online. The nausea seems to be improving so we’ll see how it goes.

I’m enjoying the sunshine lately, it’s hard to believe it will be the 1st of May next week. I love it when May Day falls on a Sunday, happy memories of May Days past with picnics and the crowning of the May Queen and her flower girls. I’m not sure if these old traditions still carry on, it’s over 20 years since we lived in a small village.

Lovely to see you FannyC, waving to Aggie across the water from here.

Sounds like an ‘interesting’ journey Urms, pleased the weather is smiling on you this time. Your happiness at being back there shines through your post.

Enjoy your holidays all our travelling grans.

Thinking of all our grans going through difficult times, especially Grandmattie and DH.

Wishing everyone the best day possible ???

Stilllearning Sun 24-Apr-22 10:29:09

A later good morning from S Lanarkshire, blue skies but cold wind.

Thoughts to you and your husband grandMattie, I hope today brings the help he needs.

I’ve been reading but not posting much but I was so glad to see the good news about your daughter Gingster

I’m looking forward to resuming my Monday post school childminding tomorrow, between holidays and Covid it’s been a while and I have been missing seeing my youngest DGC.

Oldest GC start their Highers exams this week so fingers and toes are crossed for them!

Wishing everyone the best day possible???

Good Morning from the Scottish Borders. Sunny, chilly, windy but promising day so the washing is out on the line.
My Helper's last day today so I am making the most of her. She has a list of jobs to do while I get on with important emails swan about on here
We went into Edinburgh on a pub crawl last night looking for music, which was fun, although we weren't allowed in the first bar as she had no ID, I hadn't thought of that! grin
we ended up in the students union bar which is lovely.

Urms we all love your posts. What a shame about the bad behaviour on the plane. My DS who has to fly a lot for work, says although nobody obviously drunk is allowed to board - it does happen.

Thinking of gM, Harrigran, Marydoll and all with health worries.
Have a good week everyone.

Gwenisgreat1 Sun 24-Apr-22 10:55:14

Good morning all from sunny Llandudno ver blustery though. Am waiting for our hostess with the mostest to show us how we should have got the shower working. Meanwhile it will be smelly me in town. Dh is listening to The Archers so I have time to myself!
Sorry you’ve had a bad night with your DH Grandmattie. And hope you are soon back on form Marydoll
Have the best day you can folks

Good morning Mick and all from
Sunnyside northwest coast. Just about to put some washing out, on a SUNDAY, disgraceful ? And there used to be a clause here about no washing at any time of the day…
Just a catch up day here, have felt chilly without the heating, so layering up.
Have been listening to RTE and enjoy it, not as aggressive as LBC and our stations. Some basic manners, like not interrupting. Not much to ask is it?
Many thanks for nice comments yesterday for my painting.
Oh grandMattie I do feel for you in this hard time and hope your DH gets comfortable.
