Action speaks louder than words

What other people think of you is none of your business

It's all very well having sayings but mainly they don't help me I feel.

So if I think about the first one from violetsky -
"Spend the weekend working towards the life you want instead of recovering from the life you have"

This is all very well if you actually don't need to recover from the week you've had. If the week you've had has left you with enough energy to "work towards the life you want" then fair enough. Otherwise it seems like a recipe for a melt-down.

My mum’s mantra - never a borrower or a lender be. But then she didn’t know what a mortgage was - those days you saved and bought a house with hard cash

You can't start a new chapter in your life unless you stop re-reading the last one. The past is the past. Don't let it hold you back. Move forward and don't look back.

Life is right now and not a rehearsal so live it there is no second chance.

Life is a game of bingo when your number is called it's time to go.

Forgiving is not forgetting,
It's remembering, and letting go.

"Don't start what you can't finish" is a good maxim that I've always followed.

‘If you can’t say anything nice say nothing’.
I remember that mantra from my Mum.

You cannot prevent the birds of sadness from passing over your head, but you can prevent them making a nest in your hair.
I’m not sure whether I’ve always managed to keep them away though ?‍♀️

Never go to bed on an argument, stay up and row about it all night.

I cannot agree with " this too will pass " sadly some things never pass and in fact get worse .

I heard one yesterday which made me laugh:

geekesse my mum used to say that. or don't do it at all, if you do it with a bad grace.

Just realised how rude my last post sounds ?

If you always do what you ve always done you ll always get what you’ve always got

If you are going to do something, do it with good grace.

That helps me (a) refuse to do some things, and (b) do unpalatable things without resentment.

This too shall pass.
It is what it is.
Don’t sweat the small stuff.
Don’t rescue to the point where you have to be rescued, because, then your no good to anyone.

Don’t let someone else live rent free in your brain (when you can’t get over someone in some way)

It is what it is. This helped me when my husband died. Really no point in rehashing things or wishing for different.
