Words of Wisdom

Recently I read:

"Spend the weekend working towards the life you want instead of recovering from the life you have"

That one hit me hard.

Do you have any wise words to share that have inspired you?

You can change yourself but you can’t change other people.

I like ‘don’t let the perfect get in the way of the good’
and
‘don’t compare your inside to everyone else’s outside’

They don’t exactly inspire me, but I do keep them at the forefront of my mind.

Also, ‘it’s better to be laughing on a bicycle than crying in a Rolls Royce’

The best words of wisdom I have are "this too shall pass". It reminds you that no matter how bad things may seem, they will eventually pass - and conversely, that you should also make the most of the good times when they are here, for they too, will eventually pass.

That's a great one VioletSky. I must try to do that.
I like Walk a Mile in Someone Else's shoes before you judge.
And
Be kind. Everyone you meet is struggling with something.

I like them all so far, its amazing the inspiration that can come from words

Life life to the full - tomorrow we might not be around to enjoy it.

Never go to bed angry when the sun sets. Best to make up and go to bed with a clear head.

Grandmabatty Sun 24-Apr-22 14:53:41

BlondieScot that is my motto too! Supposedly from Robert the Bruce and keeps me down to earth.

Spinnaker Sun 24-Apr-22 15:20:21

Two of my favourites:

"Don't treat someone as a priority if they treat you like an option"

and

"You can't set yourself on fire to keep others warm"

MissAdventure Sun 24-Apr-22 15:21:45

Never go to bed on an argument, stay up and row about it all night.

My hearse hasn’t got a luggage rack

Esspee Sun 24-Apr-22 15:42:08

Hiraeth

My hearse hasn’t got a luggage rack

That’s similar to “there are no pockets in a shroud”.

Serendipity22 Sun 24-Apr-22 15:49:40

Yes.

My mum used to say Its not what you say, its the way you say it.

THAT runs through me like a stick of Blackpool rock..... soooooo VERY true. X

Serendipity22 Sun 24-Apr-22 15:50:21

Life’s too short to stuff a mushroom

AreWeThereYet Sun 24-Apr-22 16:46:08

My gran used to tell me 'Only you can make you happy'.

Honeysuckleberries Sun 24-Apr-22 16:46:47

It is what it is. This helped me when my husband died. Really no point in rehashing things or wishing for different.

hollysteers Sun 24-Apr-22 16:50:01

Don’t let someone else live rent free in your brain (when you can’t get over someone in some way)

MerylStreep Sun 24-Apr-22 16:57:02

This too shall pass.
It is what it is.
Don’t sweat the small stuff.
Don’t rescue to the point where you have to be rescued, because, then your no good to anyone.

geekesse Sun 24-Apr-22 17:08:13

If you are going to do something, do it with good grace.

That helps me (a) refuse to do some things, and (b) do unpalatable things without resentment.

BlueBelle Sun 24-Apr-22 17:08:36

If you always do what you ve always done you ll always get what you’ve always got

AreWeThereYet Sun 24-Apr-22 17:09:12

Just realised how rude my last post sounds ?

DanniRae Sun 24-Apr-22 17:59:44

I like "Good enough is good enough"
and
"What goes around comes around"

Grammaretto Sun 24-Apr-22 18:03:39

I like that BlueBelle.
How was it rude AreWeThereYet ?

I heard one yesterday which made me laugh:
Every good deed gets punished.
geekesse my mum used to say that. or don't do it at all, if you do it with a bad grace.
MerylStreep yes and Nothing lasts forever which is the same.
