Good Morning Everyone,
Its bright and a dry start here in brackley , that chilly wind seems to have dropped.
Today , I plan to get the bus to Bicester for my usual coffee etc.
And then return to watch the cycling on TV.
Take Care,
Mick

DustyAngel I'm sorry to hear about your hair loss. I have come to terms with it over the years, although I still get a jolt when I look at photos. I'm sure yours was stress related because of your accident and could grow back. One of my friends lost hair after a bereavement. A good hairdresser is worth it! ?

Good morning from a sunny Algarve and the forecast is good for the weekend Pittcity, so I hope you don’t need that cardi! smile Enjoy yourselves!

I actually got out yesterday and had my hair cut, I’m suffering from bad hair loss since my accident, probably to do with the the meds, and my hairdresser was so kind and understanding Grandmabatty that it almost had me in tears. I’m sure that they are amongst the few who truly understand what it can do to a women’s confidence.

"The Editor's Wife" and "Learning to Swim" by the same author are both really good too.

Grandmajean Thu 28-Apr-22 11:35:33

Morning ( just ) from Cheshire where it's a bit chilly.
I loved "Small Pleasures" too Urmstongran - a really good read.

Nannagarra Thu 28-Apr-22 11:30:18

Good morning from the Sefton coast.
I love ‘confuddled’ NannyJan53 and hope you don’t mind if I use it!
“Small Pleasures”, on Radio 4 at the beginning of March 2021, led me to the novel; I agree it’s totally absorbing Urms.
Not just me then to put on the heating? It’s ffffreeezing!
Have the best day you can everyone.
???

Popping back Pittcity to say I hope you enjoy Lisbon as much as I do, one of my favourite cities, so pretty and cosmopolitan.
I’m now inspired to book another trip there myself.

Good Morning all from cloudy but bright Llandudno.
Yesterday we all attended the graves of our grandparents, both are in beautiful settings.
The picture I hope to show is from Bodnant Gardens, such a beautiful place. Today I believe we are just going to have a mooch around the town - my sisters want to enjoy the shops. We do so love this town.
Next time you are in Harrogate Shazza contact - we can meet up? Enjoy the town today, though.
Sorry your day was so disappointing yesterday GrandMattie but you still have your massage to look forward to.
Sorry your family are having such a hard time Cornergran
Pittcity - enjoy Portugal, I've always found it just as sunny as Spain, especially in the Algave. But Lisbon is a lovely city.
Have the best day possible, folks.
Apologies pictures won't go!!

BlueSapphire Thu 28-Apr-22 09:58:28

Urmston, that is an excellent book! We read it for book club back in January. Our next one is 'The Angel Tree' which I have just downloaded into my Kindle.

I forgot to mention my DS,DiL and DGC were going to go to Legoland this weekend as a belated Christmas present but they all have Covid for the second time. It certainly hasn’t gone away!

hulahoop Thu 28-Apr-22 09:39:48

Good morning from a cold, cloudy W Kent, hoping it will be better for trip to Norfolk. Another day of making sure I have packed everything for self catering plus all medicines needed.
All the best to everyone.

Good morning Mick and everyone. It’s cloudy and grey in my corner of Lancashire, currently 9°C.

A friend telephoned me yesterday evening with the sad news that her husband of over 40 years has decided he wants to end their marriage. They have adult children and grandchildren. His behaviour sounds irrational to say the least and I wonder if he has some form of dementia. So sad. I’m remembering some good times we all had together, it seems so unbelievable.

I must get moving now, will read the thread later.
Thinking of all our grans going through difficult times.

Wishing everyone the best day possible ???

aggie Thu 28-Apr-22 09:26:01

Good Morning everyone, it’s dulled down here in Co Armagh, the sun was brilliant earlier
Youngest sister is calling today , but she has to take our middle sis to a hospital appointment first
Nothing planned , we might go across the Square to the Coffee Shop
Sorry your massage was put off gM I hope you and your OH have a successful visit from the consultant, and have a better day xxx

hollysteers Thu 28-Apr-22 09:25:49

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers, northwest coast.
So sorry you had a disappointment over your massage GM just at a time you could co with it.
I had a lovely day trip yesterday into Shropshire : Market Drayton and Shrewsbury. I love these old English towns full of character. The wind was chilly though even in the sun. My slight after effects of the Monday jab eased off too. I managed to pour coffee from the flask over myself as the bus lurched, but it was only a little and soon mopped up.
I seem suddenly to have lots of different things to attend to, MOT, meeting with financial advisor, artwork, music decisions and dates to arrange with friends. Just feel like reading my book…
Will read through properly later.

Hello, I hope everyone has a good day today. Im collecting my grandchild from school later. So doing things in the house before then. I hope to read some of my book today. Take care everyone.

Pittcity Thu 28-Apr-22 09:15:34

Thank you all for your good wishes for my trip.
I have been to Lisbon before for one day on a cruise stop. I don't remember much except for the lovely food.
I have a hoody and a rain jacket as I'm taking the train to Gatwick Urmston so will be plenty warm enough as 25° is forecast for this weekend.
We never put anything in the loft Harri. Our suitcases are stacked inside each other, like Russian dolls, in the spare room wardrobe.

harrigran Thu 28-Apr-22 09:04:55

Good morning from an overcast NE yet again.
SIL came yesterday and we got several things sorted, especially the new contract for my broadband.
We put my suitcase back in the attic and for some reason the loft door would not close, as it is in my bedroom it would be a nuisance if it remained open. Some time pondering and fiddling with a screwdriver and SIL managed to fix it.
DS is coming this morning and taking me shopping and after lunch we are going to Ushaw college before collecting GD2 from school in Durham. Eldest GD will go straight home after school as she has a Spanish oral exam tomorrow and wants to prepare.
Wishing gM and her DH a better day.

Jaxjacky Thu 28-Apr-22 08:53:09

Morning all from a grey, chilly S Hants, our fuel deal ends on Saturday, hoping for a temperature rise from Sunday ?.
Three drives yesterday, one today and the phones, more people needing lifts for medical appointments, we’re drivers down, some on holiday and one with Covid.
Washing machine will be on soon, doubt it will dry outside.
Safe journey Pittcity.
Thinking of you both gMattie and others in a difficult place ?
Enjoy the day if you can ??

EkwaNimitee Thu 28-Apr-22 08:49:47

Good morning Mick and everyone from a grey Carlisle where it is trying to brighten up. It was 2C last night and the upstairs heating had kicked in this morning which it hasn't done for a while.
I'm off to Sainsbury's shortly as DS1 is due at the weekend and I must get stocked up. My confidence in cooking for others, even sons, is low these days and I have to admit I've got into a rather boring rut in spite of a row of interesting cookery books to hand.
Later, a bit of light housework and tidying up before hopefully finishing off my latest book.
I think I have a gremlin too ginny, never know when and where it's going to attack next. I just try to live up to my user name and be grateful it's nothing serious.

I hope you all have the best possible day, be good!

Chris3 Thu 28-Apr-22 08:41:27

Good morning from a cloudy (again) South Yorkshire. Today includes getting my nails done and a facial (a very welcome mother's Day present).... hopefully I shall be gorgeous afterwards ??
Then back to dressmaking. I need to insert an invisible zip today... Something I am not very accomplished at... So that's likely to take all day!
Have a lovely holiday Pittcity and have a good day all xx

dragonfly46 Thu 28-Apr-22 08:39:31

Good morning from dull Leicestershire.

Tai Chi this morning then a little gardening.
Not thought to as window cleaner to do inside kitty I will try it!

Enjoy Lisbon Pittcity. It is a beautiful city with much to see. I like the Portuguese people, they seem friendlier than the Spanish.

Hope you have a better day GrandMattie. Did I miss your birthday?

Wishing every one a good day.

Sar53 Thu 28-Apr-22 08:38:05

Good morning from a dull, grey day in Essex by the sea.
Yesterday was cold, back in my winter coat.
More sorting of holiday clothes today, a trip to the chemist to see if our medications are there, if not it will mean ringing the surgery.
Admin to finish, bills to pay.
Enjoy Thursday whatever you may be doing.
I will read all your news later. xxx

Taichinan Thu 28-Apr-22 08:37:58

Good morning all, and for any confused by Mick's date, it is the 28th. To be honest, I never know the date either - day of the week and month of the year do me now! Anyway, it's a glorious - if chilly - day on the Angus coast. Yesterday turned into a perfect day too and I took my friend to a local fruit farm cafe where we sat outside in the sunshine, sheltered from the wind off the sea, and enjoyed our first strawberry tart if the season. Heaven! Thank goodness for poly tunnels! Today is tai chi - two classes - after which I shall be 'fit to drop', but feel so blessed still to be able to take my classes. Have the best day possible everyone x

Urmstongran Thu 28-Apr-22 08:24:36

BlueSapphire I started our book club read yesterday. I love book club as sometimes the choice is something I would never select on my own! I’m loving this one for that reason. I’m enjoying it even more (dare I say it?) than the latest Anne Tyler which I read last week. Oh serendipity! I’ll be racing through this one which is set in in London 1957.

Marydoll Thu 28-Apr-22 08:24:19

Good morning all from a sunny Cellardyke, where it is currently 7°C.
I did ask Alexa what the weather was like, but she seemed reluctant to co-operate. Perhaps it is because we left her at home! ?

Novella alert.

We had a lovely morning yesterday in Pittenweem. We started the day having breakfast outside, at the harbour in Anstruther, a leisurely walk along the coastal path to Pittenweem, followed by a lunch of crab tagliatelle back in Anstruther.

The walk is supposed to take a leisurely forty minutes, it took me nearly two hours, with frequent stops, ( I was determined to do it) resting on well placed benches on the cliff top. It was idyllic.
DH did a lot of reminiscing about the many games of golf he played on the golf course, which sits beside the path.
Poor DD with her new camera, was instructed to do a photo shoot of various holes, where DH and my brother had either triumphs or many disasters! ⛳
This was over forty years ago, often playing in the sea haar , with orange golf balls. They were determined to get their money's worth back in those days, because they had bought a weekly ticket and we were on a very tight budget!

There was no way I could have walked back, so we decided to get the bus. I could have wept, when I saw we had missed it by two minutes, as the next one was eighty minutes later! ?
Then round the corner came a huge coach, it was the express to St Andrew's. Hugh sigh of relief!
The conversation went like this:

Anstruther?
Bus for St Andrew's
Yes, but are you going to Anstruther?
This is Pittenweem
Are you going through Anstruther?
I'm stopping at Pittenweem first.
We want to go to Anstruther!.
It's Pittenweem first.
Aaaargh! ?

The steps were so high and my legs had seized up, that I couldn't get up the steep stairs. DH had to push me up from behind, while DD and SIL fell about laughing. ☺
#Very patient and kind bus driver!

We are off up the coast this morning for a wander, but my legs have totally seized up and for some reason, I am wheezing for Scotland. DD is driving, ?, she has been driving for twenty years, but in my mind, she is still a learner! I shall sit in the back, with my lips firmly sealed.

Anno, you asked if we had been to the August art festival, it's too busy and expensive for us in August. We like when its quiet here. I was tempted by a few paintings, but we have run out of wall space and DH said a very firm, NO!!

I wish you all a very pleasant and if possible pain and worry free day.
Waving to our regulars, whom we haven't seen for a bit.

I tried to post some photos, but they need resized, I will try later.
