I was 5ft 6in when younger I am now 5ft 4in I blame hip replacement. I noticed the way I was walking straight away I had to wear a wedge in the shoe opposite the replacement to walk straight. It sounds ridiculous but it’s true my walk eventually did even out.

I have lost half a centimetre but I put that down to the discectomy I had in 2013!!!

You do seem keen to medicate Esspee. ?

Most people lose some height as they get older because the discs in our spine flatten and we can also lose some muscle tone which holds us upright. I'm in my 70's and have lost over an inch.

Haven't shrunk noticeably yet!

Weirdly I grew an inch between 25 & 30. Which I've retained despite an unmedicated menopause.

Belated happy birthday Esspee.
Yes, it appears I’ve lost 2 inches but had no idea. It only came to light when I was measured at a pre op appointment recently. Good idea to measure on your birthday.

Has anyone shrunk?

I have had a birthday this week. Every year around my birthday I check my height. Simply done and a reassuring way of knowing that I haven’t succumbed to osteoporosis like my mother.
So, what height were you in your youth? What height are you today? If you have shrunk tell your doctor who can provide treatment to prevent further trouble.
If you haven’t shrunk make a note to keep checking every birthday. Simple and effective.
