Rant about unicorns!

It is about time we did away with boys and girls sections in clothing shops. Let children wear what they like

Yes which is why we need to challenge the nonsense dished out by clothing manufacturers. I think there was a recent analysis of the slogans on girls clothing compared to boys, it was depressing.

Of course they can but its damaging to both boys and girls that clothes and the stereotypes associated with them are targeted at either sex.

TBH I’m more worried about the glitter farts Callistemon21. That stuff gets everywhere.

I don’t know when unicorns became cuddly, rainbow tailed, glitter farting ponies. The unicorns in the books I read as a child were large, powerful, dangerous, magical beings to be approached with caution.

It's those horns, they are quite dangerous if you provoke a unicorn.

Unicorns are on the way out judging by the amount of unicorn related items we get in the charity shop Dozens and dozens all shapes and sizes get donated
We have one little boy (not at all girly) who buys up our barbie dolls luckily the mum and dad don’t have a problem who knows he might make his fortune as a dress designer ?
Don’t worry about it don’t forget many years ago when boys wore dresses up to the age if 3/4 pink was a perceived boys colour
Doesn’t matter does it? loads if men wear pink shirts etc

Loads if you look. Joules do a t-shirt for starters in dark colours with a unicorn emblazoned on the front. Nothing wrong with boys wearing pink either. 2 yr old gs is what would have been called a real boy into trucks and dinosaurs but he was there all dressed up in fairy kit with eyeshadow and lipstick, courtesy of his older sister. He didn’t mind one bit. It’s other people’s perceptions that are the problem.

You don't have to take on board dominant social meanings or connotations of colour or images. If boys wear pink or rainbows it doesn't make them feminine or gay. My DGS wears a lot of clothes from girls ranges, because sometimes the range of colours is nicer. I'd like to see anyone miss gender him as he barrels past, roaring, waving a homemade weapon (none given to him by us, I hasten to add).

Can’t think of any reason why boys can’t wear pink, or rainbows, but a quick search found loads of other colour unicorn-related stuff

This is not something I had looked into so googled boys' clothes unicorn, there are many items that are not traditional girls' clothes.

The rainbow clothes are suitable for all children.

Little boys wear pink today! In fact my grandson is clad in a pink t shirt as I type. He's doing a spot of gardening with Grandpa.
