I am 70. chronically but not mentally. If anyone calls me elderly I will spit, shout and swear (boy can I swear) I weigh 8 stone 12lbs. Wear jeans, crocs, and trainers. I trim my own hedge, paint my own house, drink wine by the bucketful. I drive long distances and listen to rock music. Love horror films, the gorier the better. Laughed my way through Friday 13th. I thought elderly people wore twin sets and pearls (I would rather die!) or have blue rinses. My hair is brown, totally natural and never been died. I want to travel the world, write a book and have abundant sex. So as said fxck off anyone who dares call my elderly!!!!

Crocs and a fleece are surely a contraceptive!
Even if worn separately they are the garments that say NO!

Lucca I bet you and I could guess what’s on Op’s zip up fleece wink

Howl

Would it ever be right to keep on your crocs whilst having sex?

Oh, yes - it stops you getting pregnant…

I think being 70+ might be a good contraceptive too
?

Does anyone remember that scene in Sex and the City where Samantha, having an affair with an older man (in his 70s I think) commented unfavourably about his backside? The sex was good but when he got out of bed his bottom had lacked muscle tone and shapeliness and that put her off further encounters.

No, never watched it, Dinahmo. Was he wearing his crocs at the time. That could be very off putting, even worse than just socks.

I think it would probably stop you having sex Polly

I can do all the things the OP mentions, including digging gardens, having brown hair, painting the outside of the house. I am not overweight, wear jeans, drive long distances, wear trainers and spent the whole of Easter week on a boat on the Norfolk Broads, leaping on and off with mooring ropes and pulling the boat in at times.

Don't go for crocs or her taste in music and never did.

I, however, am 79, so the OP is nothing remarkable. I am quite happy for people to call me elderly, because I am. But being comfortable in my own skin, it doesn't bother me.

Shouting and swearing often follow drinking buckets of wine in my experience. I’m rather worried about the spitting though as it’s a health hazard.

Are you a drama llama OP?

Good one, polly! ??

Who gives a f,**k what anyone else thinks? It doesn't even enter my mind to care.

Rebel without a cause springs to mind.

I think you mean chronologically, not chronically

Thank you for clearing that up!

That word is used by certain people to describe anything from happiness to anger, used so often when they can’t find a suitable way of expressing them selves. Are we supposed to be impressed, she can swear, has natural brown hair and can dig the garden, probably do so until she is 100 no doubt. There again maybe not.

I find it frustrating that people look at us and think that we're old. As Hink2 wrote we don't feel old in our heads but often look it. If we wear jeans (I don't) youngsters talk about mutton dressed as lamb.

Does anyone remember that scene in Sex and the City where Samantha, having an affair with an older man (in his 70s I think) commented unfavourably about his backside? The sex was good but when he got out of bed his bottom had lacked muscle tone and shapeliness and that put her off further encounters.

I have a longish denim skirt which is very comfortable and easy to wear but there are occasionally comments on the fashion pages about aging hippies wearing them.

Hink2 - consider yourself lucky. Just went for lunch to the local garden centre with my daughter. All of 2 hours and I’m shattered!!!!!

Anyway, personally, I'd like to thank the op for lightening my day.

Me too ! ?

Are you asking for a friend?
In certain circumstances it might be advisable but only in the interest of health and safety. ?

What do you feel the need to boast about it Hink2? Live and let live I say.

I think you mean chronologically, not chronically. Anyway you sound distinctly unpleasant.

Thought it was compulsory, sago.

M0nica Mon 02-May-22 14:41:21

0-30 young
31-60 middle aged
61 plus old. That is a statement not a judgement and if you haven't noticed that what people are like at any given age is rarely related to it.

There is also a phrase 'mutton dressed as lamb'. I also quite like 'mutton behaving like lamb'. This the definition of people chronologically aged over 61, who try too hard to show how young they really are - and overdo it.

Has anyone blinged up their crocs with pearls or stick on jewels? We could start a photo competition thread
Noooooooo!

62Granny Mon 02-May-22 14:39:21

Good for you but what is stopping you , travelling the world, having sex or writing a book ? Go for it don't talk about it.?

No, I tend to wear them round the farm.
Or plimsolls

As for real crocs - I do try to avoid them.
