I used to collect blue and white pottery and pottery clogs, then horse brasses for a while. I’m still tempted if I see a nice horse brass in an antique shop ( not that many in Australia). I ran out of space for pottery . As for books …I have hundreds but have started the big cull.

I used to collect matchboxes when I was a child/teenager. I have hundreds of them but they have never been displayed, just stuffed in boxes in the attic (possible fire hazard? shock)

Years ago I was given a couple of Ginger Jars, then somehow people thought I collected them. I ended up with over 20 and I didn’t buy one of them. In had an aunt who lived in Hong Kong and she sent me two very old Chinese ones. My Mum kept buying me them from everywhere she went. It wasn’t until she died that I could bear to cull the collection, I only now have 5 special ones that are stored away.

I collect ornamental frogs and have done for over 50 years
I used to have around 500 but have reduced the collection to around 200. One of them came from The Kremlin.
Some have been made for me or bought by someone special.

I had a fine collection of wrapped sugar bags/cubes. They were souvenirs of travels as would have info on the place on this. 50 plus yrs on and dumped in recent declutter. I had to dispose of my mother's large jar of same on her death. Her motivation probably went back to wartime shortages and I think there was a shortage of sugar in the 1970's?

I collect owls, all different styles and materials. Try and bring one back every time we go on holiday. Keep them on a couple of high shelves but now running out of space. No additions since covid curtailed our travels.

For years I collected Enchantica Dragons when they looked like dragons not all ‘blingy’ as dragons seem to be now! Have some very rare pieces that I love! They vie for space with my hundreds of books, fiction & no fiction which I do re read!

I've collected all sorts of things over the years - china, pottery animals etc and books galore. I'm keen to have a good sort out but the people who bought some of them for me for birthdays etc might be a bit upset; so here they remain!!!

I collect pre 1980 Ladybird Books and have done for around 15 years. I'm at the stage now where the ones I don't have are extremely valuable and very hard to find.
I'm still looking though

I guess I collect shoes, but only because I have very awkward bunions which have changed shape and made so many pairs unwearable. I keep them 'just in case' although I can't imagine ever accepting surgery for the bunions and anyway, unlikely to happen on the NHS these days... I should add, I'm size 43 so finding nice shoes isn't easy in the first place....

I have collected newspaper editions of the Royal family marriages. Princess Anne to Prince Harry so far. I have quite a few jugs too. I love them!

I collected Noritake China and still have far too much but where to get rid of it? A lot of pieces are worth a lot of money!

I get all my pieces from flea markets and car boot sales, and I've never paid more than £10, and usually a lot less. I also collect Lesley Ann Ivory cat paintings, mostly on plates.

I started collecting Pocket Dragons, but stopped when the creator retired. Then it was Me to You bears, but have stopped now as I have no room.

I haven't collected anything in particular since i was a massively devout Beatles fan back in the early 60s. I still have a box file with programmes from some of the concerts I went to (including their annual Christmas shows), plus cuttings from NME and Melody Maker with any Beatles news. I also still have numbers 1-24 of Beatles Monthly magazines. When I was about 14, you couldn't see my bedroom wallpaper for Beatles pics.

Hi there.
I dont tbh... My Mum had so much stuff and I wont be following in her footsteps...although I do have quite a bit of fabric in My blanket box grin

Callistemon21 Sun 15-May-22 12:35:29

I don't collect things as much as fail to get rid of stuff.

Now, where are those Ladybird books?

Dee1012 Sun 15-May-22 12:36:18

I was very fond of Pig ornaments for a long time and had quite a collection but after a house move decided they had to be 'rehomed'.
My other weakness is books but I can think of worse addictions....

Pippa22 Sun 15-May-22 13:01:02

These days I seem to collect ailments !

Lauren59 Sun 15-May-22 13:01:55

I love collections, but mine are rather small groups of objects instead of cabinet-filling collections. I have teacups and saucers, lady head vases, vintage pottery, Dutch boy and girl figurines, chalk ware, and for the Christmas season there are gingerbread boys and girls. I have pared down my objects as of late because no one will want them when I’m no longer around!

Janburry Sun 15-May-22 13:18:13

Same here grandmabatty elephants whittled down to my favourite few, none of my girls collect stuff they prefer to live without 'clutter' and have hinted l need another clear out, probably trying to get me to do it before it becomes their job lol

Saggi Sun 15-May-22 13:24:58

Books is all I collect.

JadeOlivia Sun 15-May-22 13:27:28

Globes ..after once seeing Giorgio Armani' s globe collection in his office. Only have about 12 small and medium sized, but enjoy them.

Saggi Sun 15-May-22 13:27:29

….oh, and I seem to collect ailments now!!!
