Sorry you didn’t enjoy your weekend Hollysteers, hope your cold is gone soon x

Keepingsane the posts on here are public, anybody can read them and Google can find them. You have to be a member to post but not to read. Because of that we don’t use our real or full names in our posts. We’re still friendly though smile

Welcome Bowlore and Keepingsane from me in sunny Cheshire. Quiet day today , I hope. Thinking of all our posters with health and family worries.

Good morning Mick and all. It’s sunny in my corner of Lancashire, currently 13°C.

It was disappointing to discover that my A1C levels (blood glucose) had increased by one yesterday, despite my efforts. After discussing with the nurse practitioner at my GP we came to the conclusion my recent mobility issues had contributed to this. It’s something I can’t really control, the gout pain even prevented me from using my exercise bike. Hoping the new meds are doing their job.

Anyway we have been up and about early this morning, been for a walk then a supermarket visit to stock up on frozen prepared (not processed) vegetables as I’m aiming to increase my veg consumption. I struggle with peeling and prep, so frozen fresh are very useful. Tinned tomatoes are the basis for many low fat curries and sauces, a store cupboard standby for me.

I shall stop wittering on now and read the thread!

Hello and welcome Bowlore and Keepingsane and a warm welcome to any new members I have missed recently.

Thinking of all our grans going through difficult times.

Wishing everyone the best day possible with a ?or two along the way.

Hi All. First time on this site.
Sunny in West Midlands - at the moment.
Thought I'd join as I work from home and it gets very quiet.
Me? Work for the NHS - not medical, but in the commercial sector
I'm 63 - feel 100, but want to start feeling 63 again! Or even 53 :-)
I play bowls, just started, so still trying to get the bowls to do what I want them to.
I like walking - nothing long distance - although years ago I did do the Lyke Wake Walk in Yorkshire
I've played piano for over 55 years, so getting the hang of it now - got myself a banjo, but not got into the habit of practising it yet..it's not safe these days to be out under lamp posts playing it...
So have a good day everyone. As I'm new - is it pc to give your name out? Hate being so impersonal

Hello Bowlore.

Oopsadaisy1 Tue 10-May-22 10:02:30

Just popped back to say hello to Bowlore , we’ve just had a blowy walk across the beach, back now for breakfast.
Ooh sun is out, back to the beach for another walk later, maybe have another go at the Tarka Trail……

hollysteers Tue 10-May-22 09:59:44

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
Had a weekend away, but it was ruined as I developed a massive cold, I think picked up at the hairdresser, not covid as had a test. Every swallow like bricks going down, so sore and a hacking cough. So no singing today. Wish I had left my roots alone and carried on with the brown spray…
Thoughts to Grandmattie and hello Bowlore

Welcome Bowlore. I am also relatively new to this site and working on how to post. Sunny in Dunblane at the momement but also bits of grey sky.
Visit to Marks for some bits and pieces Then lunch. Afternoon visit to dentist for check up but no doubt he will find something needing fixed. Very lucky really as I am still accessing NHS dental treatment.
Hope everyone manages a smile at some point.

Taichinan Tue 10-May-22 09:46:51

Good morning all. The Angus coast is still grey, but today there are fleeting blue gaps. A blessing indeed.
Grandmattie my heart goes out to you and your DH and I hope that an effective balance of pain relief can be found. I hope too that you can manage to your tai chi class - it's such soothing exercise which your body must so sorely need.
I'm writing this in haste before reading at leisure. I lost two attempts at posting yesterday - fumble fingers par excellence me! Went to a very profitable and enjoyable catch-up with other tai chi instructors in our group in the morning and it would appear we haven't strayed off course at all over the past two difficult years! I'm in my 13th year of instructing now, and several of my students have been coming to me for a long time.
Today is a day for hanging out the washing and then a weekly shop - not wildly exciting, but great joy if the washing dries!
Lots of love and hugs to those going through hard times, and thanks to others sharing their holiday pleasures x

Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle where the sun goes in and out and the clouds are flying across because it's windy. The latter tends to deter me from pottering in the garden because I hate being blown at. After nearly 50 years of living on the Cumbrian coast I should be used to it but I'm not!
At least I don't have to suffer the full force of the southwesterly gales where I am now.
I've already done a bit of cleaning and have started to think of more caffeine but more cleaning beckons afterwards. I prefer to get it done early in the week and leave the rest of it free for more fun things.
I got a call from the surgery yesterday just to make an appointment...for a week's time. I'm obviously non urgent! Well, compared with many, no.
Started another of my books waiting to be re-read and again wondering why I've kept it for decades. It's a bit like that second cake or pudding, not as good as the first time.
Hello Bowlore, hope to hear more from sunny Sussex.

I keep hoping your DH's pain will be sorted grandMattie. At least the consultant seems to be pro-active so good luck with the hospice stay.

And wishing you all a pleasant sunny day.

luluaugust Tue 10-May-22 09:23:45

Good morning all from an overcast W Kent. Having done most of the washing yesterday I now have a pile of ironing. Going to the local station to see if I can buy a ticket for tomorrow, first time on a train in over two years and must confess I feel anxious about it, silly really.
Welcome to Bowlore and good wishes to all, thinking of GM hope things go to plan.

BlueSapphire Tue 10-May-22 09:17:39

Good morning everyone from an overcast Northampton, but sunny spells forecast this afternoon, which will be good for our health walk.

Was busy all day yesterday; gave downstairs a good clean, washed the cushion covers (and also the kitchen floor, which I hate), and spent the afternoon.gardening.

I also phoned BT to upgrade my broadband, (got a good price for it), and they will be sending an engineer to set it all up for me next week. Perhaps he will sort out the rats nest of cables that DH left! Then I had to download the required security protection for my new laptop, and also uninstall the old program.

Am about to make a tea bread for visitors expected tomorrow, so will pop that in the oven while I have my shower and dress. The fruit has been soaking overnight in strong tea, so should be nice and moist.

A quick lunch then out for my health walk; may cut the front grass when I get back from that. Shepherd's pie defrosting in the fridge for dinner. Watching my diet, as I need to lose half a stone before my cruise in August!

Hoping today is kind to all.

Stilllearning Tue 10-May-22 09:09:49

Morning from East Renfrewshire, quite bright outside and family have all departed to school on their bicycles.

I am about to start the ironing which is the only thing I can really do to help as I am too far away for more than my weekly visit. DD will be home soon to start her working from home.
Off after that to meet a friend for a walk and lunch.

Keeping your DD in my thoughts today Gingster and everyone else who needs support.

Wishing everyone the best day possible ???

dustyangel Tue 10-May-22 09:08:37

Good morning everyone and welcome to Bowlore
Are you into archery? I’m just having a cup of tea before starting to tidy everything away before our occasional cleaner comes this afternoon. It was much easier when I had the excuse of my cracked pelvis and just left everything to her but I can’t seem to let myself to that now.

baubles Tue 10-May-22 08:59:02

Good morning all from bright and breezy South Lanarkshire where I hope the rain stays away, it was miserable yesterday.

Thinking of you both gMattie. flowers

Chrissielou and Gingster, sending my best wishes for your DDs.

No plans today other than a telephone appointment with the audiology physiotherapist about my vertigo. When I attended in person a couple of months ago she wasn’t able to induce an attack so concentrated on my balance which isn’t terrible but I do have a tendency to veer to the left. Anyhoo we’ll see if anything more can be done.

Wishing everyone the best day possible and I’m not at all envious of those of you in sunnier climes, honest! grin

ShazzaKanazza Tue 10-May-22 08:28:59

A warm welcome for me too Bowlore.

merlotgran Tue 10-May-22 08:27:02

Good morning everyone from a rainy south coast. I hope it will ease off by 11am when I have a taster session at the U3a allotment group. How typical of the weather to change today!!

So sorry to read all the posts from people needing love and support as they cope with anxiety, stress and exhaustion. May used to be my favourite month but now it’s the one I struggle to get through. It is what it is, however.

Have the best day possible, folks. Take care. X

Jaxjacky Tue 10-May-22 08:20:48

Georgesgran Tue 10-May-22 08:16:44

Good morning from a bright Durham. Not a cloud in the sky, but it’s very windy.
Coffee at a local garden centre with a friend first, then back home to continue planting up in the garden and maybe a little time with a duster later.
Special thoughts for gM - my DH hated his unplanned admissions to hospital, but knew it was where he needed to be. It also gave me a break, although I visited daily.
No plans for a holiday this year, but so enjoying reading of some GNs’ days in the sun.

Urmstongran Tue 10-May-22 08:14:41

? to you Bowlore!
