When a friend visited recently she commented on the number of photographs I have on display in my sitting room - 15. The majority of myself and my late DH on various holidays and special occasions (1 is of our wedding) the rest are of family. Got me wondering how many photos others have on display.

None on the walls - those are for pictures. - but plenty propped informally on the bookshelves. There are about twenty, all of family. Some framed, some not. They are photos of me and my brother when we were small (is that beautiful blond little boy really my bald 86-year-old brother? Yes.) One of me aged 12 in my tutu - I was a keen ballet student. It’s as hard to believe as the one of my brother! My parents as small children in the 1910s, father sailor suited aged 4, mother about 3, all starched broderie anglaise. My mother as a student, my sons’ graduation photos - my parents displayed ours, so it’s just a tradition. Son’s wedding photo and my two grandchildren at various ages. There’s a lovely photo of my daughter-in-law with her new baby - my grandson, now 13.

It’s so nice to be reminded constantly of family past and present.

7 on sideboards, and 8 on my ‘family photo wall’….if I put up a ‘latest’ one I take one out of its frame and keep photo in with the others. So 15 all told.

1, living room. 3, lounge. 2, kitchen. That's it.

I have 17. Mostly of my two daughters and grandson.

I have what my elder daughter charmingly calls my stalker's wall with a huge mosaic of pictures up one wall in the kitchen. It features my family, friends, holidays, fun etc and I love looking at it.

I have friends who have no pictures at all but each to his/her own.

5 in frames and a pinboard with 9 small photos which are changed regularly.

In our last house one wall of the living room was a photo gallery. Most of those photos are still in crates since we moved 10 years ago! I keep meaning to sort through them and put some on the walls, we certainly have plenty of wall space for them now.

Two in the sitting room in a small double frame. The conservatory has two of those multi frames with images of our family, parents and grandparents plus one of each of us as very small children which always make our grandchildren laugh. There used to be wedding photos in the hall, no longer since one if ours divorced, I felt better removing them all, we replaced them with pictures.

One of my two daughters.

None. We have lots of paintings on all the walls, including the hallway and bedrooms. Still have more that we haven't got put up! No freestanding items, as we have three
cats (who would delight in pushing them on to the floor, given chance).

Eight in the lounge ( includes one each of my three AC’s school photos plus an ensemble one!), rest are grandchildren. Two in my bedroom (grandchildren and one of my late mum), three in the hall, baby photos of my AC. Sentimental or what! Makes me happy anyway!

Penelopebee Mon 16-May-22 13:37:15

One of my grown up daughter when she was three.
I tried having pics of my mum and aunt who brought me up. But can't beat the grief when I look at them. They've been gone for over 30 years and I still can't do it

Recent visit from son and family who live abroad made me check photos on display to make sure all three children and four grandchildren were all equally represented. They weren’t, so had to hurriedly get a few printed, framed and displayed. Talk about sibling rivalry!

None of people, one of the dogs, although that has been heavily edited so it's more a piece of graphic art rather than a photo.

In the front room about 8, in the back room about 6 and my bedroom too numerous to count. Various pictures of my parents, the in-laws and my children.

In the previous house 2 of the dining room walls had pictures of all 4 daughters from babies through school pictures..1st communions to graduations...then with future husbands.. Wedding pictures and then pictures of the 9 Grandsons (now 10)...but life changed dramatically a little while ago and now there are no photos of any of them in the new home. Life goes on though and I still have the memories.

Thirteen - but there are ten DGC

pen50 Mon 16-May-22 12:56:43

None - and my parents didn't either. Must be a family blind spot.

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 16-May-22 12:51:28

Is any of the wall still visible??

GrammaH Mon 16-May-22 12:50:41

12 in the kitchen , 15 in the dining room and 7 in the front room. A mixture of us together or with the children, wedding photos of us and DS, the grandchildren, my parents when they were young...I love to have them about where I can see and enjoy them.

Kartush Mon 16-May-22 12:50:25

I have 53 on the walls in our lounge room

Treetops05 Mon 16-May-22 12:41:31

One, none of us like our pictures taken, so it is of an old, beloved dog Winston. I'd like one of our Grandson, but he changes so quickly...

Hellsbelles Mon 16-May-22 12:35:07

3 all grandchildren . However I'll admit they become rather like ornaments, something that sits on a shelf and doesn't often get looked at .

Lyndie Mon 16-May-22 12:33:48

None. I have all my photos on my phone. They are very current. My family send photos of what they have bought, where they have been, on a regular basis. I get photos of their pets. Videos of grandchildren dancing or bicycle riding. I much prefer this to actual pictures in a frame. They need dusting!

sazz1 Mon 16-May-22 12:32:12

None in the living room but loads on my bedroom walls of DGC
