Do you iron tea towels

I used to iron everything, even pants, when the kids were at home. Now I only iron going out clothes and my bedding-love the feel of newly laundered and ironed sheets

I sometimes tease Husband by singing it when he's obsessionally ironing. One of my favourite folk songs.
But really I'm glad he does iron

I only seem to iron in the summer when there's linen or cotton clothes on the go. The rest of the year only occasionally if I've used good napkins or tablecloths. I do like natural cotton bedlinen but only iron for visitors coming. When my husband was teaching he had a clean polyester cotton shirt every day but washed in a cool wash and drip dried,never ironed and never looked creased. If you never iron them you never need to.

I iron practically all my clothes, except socks and pants which I fold in a way that makes it possible to stand them, one behind the other , in my drawers. My drawers look a bit like filing cabinets and I love them like that. OH irons his clothes and we share the ‘household’ ironing but he tends to do more of it because he enjoys it. If he didn’t, I’d do it because it keeps the drawers tidy. I love to open a drawer and know exactly where everything is and I enjoy leaving a freshly washed and ironed tea towel out every night for the next day - even though OH tend to do most of the washing up that doesn’t go in the dishwasher. I hate creases and couldn’t wear creased clothes. Before I buy something to wear I always crease it up in my hands and if it creases easily I don’t buy it because I know it will look tatty half an hour after I’ve put it on.

Strangely, tea towels are pretty much the only things I iron, apart from pillow cases. All the rest comes under Fluff and Fold.

No never have and do people really change their tea towel every day.

Only the linen ones, the others are just folded and put away.

Ironing was invented to destroy the fleas and other bugs that infected clothing in the 'old days.' I always steam iron tea towels to kill any bacteria/viruses that might have survived, as I don't boil, just wash them in with everything else.
I'm impressed that many of you have so many tea towels that you store them in a drawer- mine go straight back into use!

No I don’t, they don’t need it. Also would never iron any bloke’s pants

I enjoy doing the ironing it is relaxing brought a pair of headphones listen to my music and way I go. I don't iron tea towels or pants

Yes, I iron my tea towels to fit into the drawer and I think the heat, plus previous hot wash, possibly kills more bacteria.

Until recently I ironed everything, but it’s just too fecking dear to have the electricity on for longer than necessary!

I don’t, better things to do with my time! Yet, my mum does… older generation thing maybe? She’s 75, but she always has lovely white ones too, soaks them the old way, I fail miserably!

My tea towels are mostly terry so don’t need ironed (I throw them in the tumble dryer with towels and fold them when dry) although I used to iron the two ends. I have a waffle one that my daughter brought from a holiday and that needs ironed so it’s not used much! No underwear is ironed although some of DH’s boxers could do with it - usually a good shake is all they get.
To deviate slightly, can I ask why some people call a drawer a draw? I’ve seen it used before but not in my part of the world. ?

I do the weeks ironing on Saturday afternoons, and it’s about the only time I watch any television.
Nothing that demands too much concentration, at the moment I’m working through classic Coronation street.

Yes. I'm in the minority also. I iron everything even towels. I know it's not really necessary but I still do it.

I quite enjoyed ironing all my daughters tiny little bits and pieces when she was a child.
Now, though, no.

Enjoy ironing and iron T towels (kills any bugs) sheets, pillowcases, husbands pants etc etc ...very soothing ironing an d listening to Audible or BBC sounds..peaceful time to myself which I can justify!!

Yes, I iron my tea towels. I like to see them neat in the drawer.

Rarely iron. But it’s quite a satisfying process when I do. My iron is off the 80s. Still sort of works. Needs an upgrade. Like most things round mine. ?
