Evening all. I had a fun afternoon with my craft group over the road. They made noticeboards and I carried on with my knitting. I made what I call a chicken fricasse pie for dinner. Leftover chicken in a sauce comprised of gravy, milk and a touch of cream with cooked pasta stirred in and topped with grated cheese and breadcrumbs. Half an hour in the oven. Our daughter went back to London yesterday after staying the weekend. Younger son has a week off so he’s coming tomorrow for a few days. I was making up his bed and realised the bedding is around 30 years old. Faded and worn. OH said to order more so I got onto the John Lewis website and ordered some lovely new bedding.

‘Evening All’

We’ve had a very quiet day. A trip to a local garden centre was the highlight. I set out to buy a yellow miniature rose to put into a tub at the front door and came back with a red azalea.

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people!

Grandmabatty, what a shame about your soup, however, your jam looks amazing.?

YiaYia, enjoy your holiday in Greece, whereabouts do you stay? We love Greece, we've been to Athens, Kefalonia and Sissi. Happy memories!

Blossoming, I hope you get a good sleep tonight. I'm using an NHS app called Sleepio to try to improve my sleeping patterns. I'm sure it's Bill Forsyth doing the voiceovers. Lovely voice, whoever it is.

Jaxjacky, sausage, beans and mash is a very tasty dinner, enjoy! My sisters and friend have been very kind, providing me with dinner on my return from hospital visiting. Such a treat, plus the supportive company.

Shazza, hope you feel better soon so that you can enjoy the wedding at the weekend, take care.

Once again, grateful ? thanks to everyone for kind wishes and pms for my DH's recovery. I visited this afternoon and found him still a bit confused, he had a fall this morning after a disturbed night with 'spiking' temperature. DS1 visited this evening , a prebooked appointment, but had to wait in the visitors' room cos they had taken his Dad away for another chest x ray, ecg and blood tests. He's being well checked out, I'm very thankful. ?

Enjoy the rest of Monday, TOYA, NNGB.

Good evening lovely Kitcheners. That apricot jam looks gorgeous Grandmabatty I’ll certainly have some on my toast. Hope you have a better night tonight.

I’m so stuffed up with cold today. I feel properly pathetic. I’ve pottered round the house today cleaning this and that but not much else. Had our Grandson from school but he’s no bother to look after. Just didn’t have the energy to do any exercise today.
Had a video chat with my son in China I’m so desperate to see him in the flesh. It’s been 3 years. He’s well though like me he’s desperate for their borders to reopen.
I’m just sitting on the bed while my tanning moisturiser dries lol. Trying to look sun kissed for a wedding on Saturday.
Blossoming I have very weird dreams every night. Everyone wonders what goes on in my head?. Hope you have a better night tonight as well. I have some coronation sauce from M&S and it’s gorgeous. Love it over a salad.

Wishing everyone a lovely evening. Speak tomorrow ??

Jaxjacky Mon 13-Jun-22 19:22:12

Bad nights Blossoming and Grandmabatty I hope that situation improves from now on. I’ll be getting the fan out later in the week for bedtime as it’s going to be very humid.
I’m lucky soop MrJ does our ironing, not that I have much, it’s mostly his shirts. One of his occasional cooking nights nights this evening, he has a repertoire of two dishes and one is visiting the chippy! So, sausage mash and beans on the way.
Hope the poorly people are healing ?
4 sleeps Yia..

brook2704 Mon 13-Jun-22 18:09:54

Sorry to hear you had such a bad night blossoming ?

Blossoming Mon 13-Jun-22 17:48:55

Good evening lovely Kitcheners. I had a disturbed night as my hiatal hernia started playing up and I had foolishly run out of meds as it had been trouble free recently. When I eventually fell asleep I had a very vivid and horrible dream about a school and some bullies. Not from my own schooldays, I really don’t know where my brain gets this stuff from. I was very pleased when the alarm went off but I was still very upset, even though it wasn’t real, Mr. B took me shopping, I stocked up on stomach meds and hayfever tablets and some yummy treats for this week’s healthy meals. I was exhausted by the time we got home so have done very little else. Chicken salad for tea with a very small dab of coronation mayonnaise.

soop Mon 13-Jun-22 16:51:09

Grandmabatty A good home here. That's what I meant to say.

soop Mon 13-Jun-22 16:50:06

Grandmabatty Your apricot jam would find a good here with the Soops. Such a pity that it wouldn't travel well in the post. wink

Yia How pleasant for you to enjoy a Bbq with your family. Exciting time for you as you prepare for your holiday in Greece. It is a marvellous country. I'm a wee bit envious.

brook I haven't caught up since the long visit this morning. I had no idea how time was marching on. More ironing will have to wait until tomorrow. It won't go far. grin

I leave you all with my love. smile moon

Yiayia4 Mon 13-Jun-22 16:38:35

brook2704 Mon 13-Jun-22 16:34:21

Aww thanks for the jam grandmabatty you’ve been busy ! But sorry you’ve had such a bad night. Hope you’re getting a rest now
And you too soop sounds like a very busy day
I’ve flopped on the sofa this afternoon, I went to the gym this morning and did the washing but that’s about it for today!
Hoping things are improving a bit with your DH grannmarie , look after yourself too ?

Grandmabatty Mon 13-Jun-22 15:13:02

Afternoon kitcheners. I have made eight pots of apricot jam and I'll leave some in the kitchen. The jam is a wee bitty dark but it tastes nice and tart and fruity. I had a dreadful night's sleep and was up for two hours with such sore legs. The joys of diabetes I fear. Anyway here's the jam and I'm going to have a lie down. Have a nice afternoon kitcheners.

soop Mon 13-Jun-22 14:26:50

Dearest you lovely lot, a friend called in for coffee and a wee chat. It turned into a lengthy stay and in-depth blether. Washing machine had beeped several times. Just managed to get the laundry sorted and on the drying rack. Then came lunch. Then came Mr S's four hourly eye drops to insert. We stop tomorrow, after one month of dealing with same. Now I have a pile of ironing. Tennis on the screen. I haven't seen a single shot thus far.

Breathe! wink I shall return a little later. smile

Good evening all.
I am so sorry that the kitchen is such a sad place presently.
Grannmarie I send my very best wishes to you and your DH.
These things come as such a shock to us and having been there you have my sincere sympathy.
Things here are in a state of flux.
My DGD will have a scar and we have to come to terms with it.
It is healing well and the steri strips are to try and mitigate puckering of the scar.
These things are sent to try us I am sure.

To all who are suffering or caring my best wishes.
To all others I send not only best wishes but positive vibes that things continue to go well.

Urmstongran Sun 12-Jun-22 21:42:59

‘Evening All’

I’ve caught up in here now dear kitcheners. I’m saddened to hear of those amongst us with worries over health issues in the family. I shan’t mention individuals as I’d feel awful if I inadvertently left someone out. Please know I do care and wish for better times ahead - for you all - very soon.

Xx

Grandmabatty Sun 12-Jun-22 17:44:08

Soop it was my fault as I didn't put the soup in the fridge and left it out. Very annoying and self inflicted.

Grannmarie Sun 12-Jun-22 17:28:53

Thank you, dear Soop and lovely Kitchen people, for your kind wishes and virtual support, it is greatly appreciated.

Baubles, wishing you well for your continued recovery.

DS2 and I have just visited his Dad, who is a bit brighter than yesterday, one day at a time. ?? I'm very thankful, he is being well looked after.

Enjoy the rest of Sunday, enjoy your family
times and holidays, safe journeys, I'll catch up with all your news soon.

TOYA and an early NNGB.

brook2704 Sun 12-Jun-22 17:21:07

So sorry to hear about your DH grannmarie what a worry but I hope he’s much better soon and back home with you before too long ❤️
I’m not quite home yet grandmabatty but at Luton awaiting the Inverness flight. Thankfully it’s not too busy and there aren’t any big queues.
The chicken and sweet potato curry sounds really delicious Jax enjoy it later!

soop Sun 12-Jun-22 17:11:04

Jax Snap! A lazy day for the Soops, although we did take our favourite walk this morning.

Grandmabatty Such a shame to have to waste your homemade soup. Would it really "turn" over night? What a buggeration.

I need to have a shower. Perhaps it will help me to feel more "with it". Right now, I'm without energy or the inclination to do anything remotely busy. One of those things. We all have such days, which is a comfort to know.

Until tomorrow. TOYA. smile moon

Jaxjacky Sun 12-Jun-22 16:36:44

What a horrible shock Grannmarie I do hope he’s soon we’ll enough to come home, take care.
I had the same mini greenhouse problem a couple of years ago Grandmabatty I did rescue some, all muddled up, but they survived.
A lazy day here, ordered some birthday presents online, bedding washed, dried and MrJ has just made up our bed. Garden watered, it’s breezy, good for washing but dries the soil quickly, scudding clouds.
Chicken and sweet potato curry is wafting through the house, all ready for later.

Grandmabatty Sun 12-Jun-22 14:57:47

Dgs1 is away home with mum. Grandma is lying on the couch recovering. We have had a splendid time and lots of fun. My little greenhouse fell over yesterday in the high winds so my tomato plants are gonners. And the lovely big pot of leek and potato soup I made yesterday has turned and I've had to put it out. It is my fault for not putting it in the fridge last night but still, very annoying. I hope brook is home safely. Have a good afternoon kitcheners.

soop Sun 12-Jun-22 14:50:59

Baubles Yet more virtual, very gentle hugs from me to you. sunshine

soop Sun 12-Jun-22 14:49:44

My thoughts are with you, Grannmarie. Your dear husband is in safe hands. He will be given the best possible treatment to help him recover. I look forward to hearing more positive news. I am glad that you have your family close at hand. Their support will be a comfort to you both. flowers

brook Grandmabatty et al, you lovely lot are a wonderful grandmothers. smile
