Things you think can make you look older than your years!

Me and my two sisters love animal print. My one sister is attractive and stylish and is a big fan of animal print.

Wouldn't we all become clones, if we ditched all clothes, make up etc, suggested here?
I also think that some people just don't have the confidence to be stylish and feel it's safer stick to the same boring clothes.

Who is to say that our taste is any better than anyone else's.

I’m wearing jeggings and a ditsy flowery T bag top and running socks. I don’t wear any makeup nowadays but I do have a skincare routine.

I’ve no idea if I look old or not, what I’m wearing is practical and comfortable for what I’m doing today.

I think it’s also a matter of opinion as to what is stylish / what looks good. Some people on here sound very confident about their looks and their style - but in reality not everyone might agree with that! I’ve noticed on threads about clothes shoes people say they love such and such a shop, which I personally thinks sells very boring clothes

Long grey hair,plaits, hair in a bun. Long skirts with flat granny shoes,cardigans.

My hair is below my shoulders and it’s now grey - but in good condition and definitely not in plaits or a bun.

How about stylish, colourful scarves, just to put the cat among the pigeons?

Yes, but anyone seeing someone wearing one will know they have a scraggy neck underneath it.

My mum used to call me scraggy neck sometimes, as a term of endearment. (I think, at least!)

Oh dear, Snowberry, some of my very stylish friends (including me) wear Sketchers and statement necklaces. Not at the same time, of course. ?

Don't worry, I wear them as well (sketchers that is) its liking walking on air. But they do look a bit frumpy on me.

Visible blue eyeshadow (Camilla!), all but the most subtly dyed hair, long hair worn loose (whether grey or not) over the age of about 45, shoes that hurt your feet, being overweight, denim after a certain age (not sure when). Hooded anoraks are very practical and I do own one, but they are almost a uniform among older women.

On the other hand, what the hell! Wear what you like.

Crimplene/polyester or any shiny man made material, especially in tops and trousers.

T shirts with a flowery panel on the shoulder/round the neck

Jumpers with sequins

Hair dyed too dark and like a helmet

Long grey unstyled, untrimmed hair

Blue or green eyeshadow

Blue under eye liner - a bit 1980's Princess Diana

Beige or pastel coloured elasticated waist trousers with baggy bum, wide legs and (unintentionally) too short

Fleece jackets with animals in the pattern

I disagree about the flowery dresses as these are quite fashionable now. I suppose it depend on the pattern.

I also disagree about all Hotter shoes. I have just bought some that look like classic Birkenstocks but were half the price. Hotters have much more trendy styles now but I appreciate what the poster was saying.

If you are tall-ish and slim I think you can get away with a lot more, fashion wise, as you get older. My tall slim friend looks fab in taupe and cream colours. I just look like a pile of porridge

I agree with your friends. Old lady shoes, badly cut jeans, and an old fashioned hairstyle are all matronly giveaways I think. As with Miss A I don’t want to offend anybody, because they are all unimportant in the big scheme of things, but people do notice, and I don’t think a big smile and a friendly face stops them doing so.

I dont know what old lady shoes are but I have to wear sensible shoes because of my awful feet.

However, I did see someone recently, younger than me, who was wearing the type of pleated skirt my MIL used to wear.
(I hope she's not on here, she was a lovely, friendly woman,)
