While having a discussion with two friends this subject came up! They were saying the way some people dress can look a bit matronly! I was saying but it’s not all about dress sense I think having a positive attitude and a smile makes you appear happier so therefore younger, it’s not always about how a person dresses! What do you gransnetters think!

Aww, I quite like feet.
Think of the miles they've travelled, the places they've been, and the injustices heaped upon them..

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 24-May-22 19:35:43

If you saw my feet MissA, despite my best efforts to make them presentable, you would agree that exposure should be limited.?

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 24-May-22 19:33:22

For merlotgran.

MissAdventure Tue 24-May-22 19:32:49

Its healthier to give your feet a good airing, in comfortable, open, roomy sandals.

Anything synthetic and, worst of all, satin, it is so aging. In fact any shiny material isn't kind to an older skin.
Elasticated waists are fine and comfortable as long as the waistband is hidden.
Open- toe sandels which reveal all the worst features of our aging feet....
I used to be proud of my size 4's but am happy to keep them covered nowadays.

Oh how kind of you!!! That’s made my day!!! You should see me when I get up and when I’m wearing my gardening gear though with hair falling out of its clip. Not good!

I think we have similar styles gsm…. Allotment Chic!

I also like Michael Portillo.

Er, just to say that I'm not guilty of the Michael Portillo thing - would rather admit to elasticated beige slacks grin

I like Michael Portillo

There, I've admitted it ?
Again

As do I!!

I have a purple shopping trolley. (With butterflies on)

Aprila Tue 24-May-22 19:13:27

Tartan shopping trolley made me chuckle ! That was the best one I ever had and was given me by my glam elegant Italian neighbour. Besides I’m Edinburgh-born. Current one is purple though... When I am old I will wear purple ... something like that haha !

FannyCornforth Tue 24-May-22 19:08:43

I do hope that I’d never disappoint you Lucca

Lucca it was a totally random list of stuff. Most of which I am ‘guilty’ of. I was joking smile

Speldnan Tue 24-May-22 18:58:57

A lot of makeup makes women look older as do bright coloured nails which make old hands look like claws. Old fashioned clothes and shoes don’t help either plus dyed hair when it obviously isn’t natural!

Lucca Tue 24-May-22 18:49:08

FannyCornforth

Okay.
Here’s mine:

Socks in any other colour than blue
Nail varnish
Anything with a collar
Shopping at Tesco
Reading the Daily Mail (especially in the week)
Voting Lib Dem
Liking Michael Portillo
Drinking anything other than Dry White Wine
Owning more than one cat
Owning fewer than 6 pairs of shoes
Using public transport
Watching ‘Doctors’

Anymore?smile

Having my nails painted in a lovely deep cherry colour currently is one little thing that makes me feel better. Toenails to match.
I use the bus and the train.
I voted Lib Dem.

None of these makes me look or seem old

FC you disappoint me. Too much white wine ?

Kathy72 Tue 24-May-22 18:33:13

It’s all subjective too - someone might be very confident about their style, but others may not agree. Go with what makes you happy.

Ooh don't worry about what people here say...
The important thing is to be comfortable with yourself and the choices you make.

Let's assume nobody intended to put others down.

maryrose54 Tue 24-May-22 18:14:23

Having read this thread I feel even more insecure about how I look than I did before reading it. I know, yes I shouldn't have looked in the first place. To me the most important thing is to dress in clothes that suit and flatter you. There must be days when even those posters who are putting people down for their lack of style feel they just need to be comfortable rather than stylish.

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 24-May-22 17:40:41

Mmm, probably.?

MissAdventure Tue 24-May-22 17:39:49

grin

Callistemon21 Tue 24-May-22 17:39:37

Look away now!!

I need the white trainers, though, don't I, to complete the look.

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 24-May-22 17:39:26

But darling, it’s all the rage with the young gals donchaknow?

MissAdventure Tue 24-May-22 17:33:48

Frightfully non-U, I'd say. wink
