Good Morning Everyone,
Its a grey but a dry start here in brackley this morning .
Yesterday , I did see the Top Gun Sequel, it was worth seeing , plus also shown as a trailer a film about Elvis's early years with Tom Hanks.
I caught a bus prior to film start ,and also returned earlier than planned when film had finished .
Today , a shop in Bicester the last one before the public holiday as bus services will not be running there as its a Sunday service .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning Mick and all. It’s dry and sunny in my corner of Lancashire, currently 11°C. Sounds like you had a good day Mick.

Yesterday it rained non-stop until early evening. I did the laundry but had to use the tumble dryer for the first time in ages. Today I need to take a parcel to the post office, it won’t fit in the post box. It’s been very quiet here for the past few days but I expect the shops will be busy.

Glad you had a good day Grandmattie, what a busy bee! I hope you can rest Marydoll after yesterday’s traumatic events. Don’t let Dollie tire you out. Sorry things didn’t go to plan Granmadinosaur and I hope your BP soon settles.

I am extremely relieved to see you posting Urmstongran after seeing all the dire travel reports! I hope you and your family have a fabulous time and your stepfather is OK.

A warm welcome to any new posters I may have missed. Safe journey to any traveling and enjoy those holidays ???

Have a good day all, may all with troubles find some comfort.

Good morning from a grey NE.
Had a disturbed night, woken at 3am by what sounded like heavy breathing and coughing. My heart was going like the clappers, the noise changed to more of a yelp so I think it must have been a fox in the garden rather than someone in the house, it was very loud.
Caught up with some TV in between washing towels.
Delighted to find three pairs of brand new trousers in the back of a cupboard and two new terry dressing gowns, not a hoarder just forgetful.
Take care all you poorly people.

Good morning all from W Kent. Off to the dentist, enough said!.
Very good wishes to all.

Grandmabatty Tue 31-May-22 08:45:07

Good morning all from Polmont. 10° and cloudy. Mick Top Gun was a cracking film. I saw it last night. Urms urgh. Airport delays are the worst. I'm glad you arrived safely eventually and are settling in. Grandmattie like others, I'm in awe of your energy. You seem to always think of others before yourself. Marydoll although you make a funny story out of your travails, I have no doubt that yesterday was a very stressful day for you. ?
Yesterday I, too, went to see Top Gun. I wasn't particularly looking forward to it as I'm not a big Tom Cruise fan, however it was excellent! Very exciting. I had a nice catch up with friends too. Today is a quiet day in. I have a tesco delivery later so I'll give the fridge a clean. Have a good day all.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a dull, wet South Yorkshire. It has been raining heavily overnight by the look of things. GS had his bike ride yesterday, trying out his dad’s bike because he’s grown out of his own, while his Dad and I walked a section of the Transpennine Trail. We didn’t catch up with him but he kept riding back to make sure we were still there! Then GS spent the afternoon and overnight with me. He helped me with the garden. His reward will be lunch at his favourite pub today after which I will have to go scrubbing floors to make up the shortfall in my bank balance!
Marydoll you had quite an ordeal in A&E. Hope things are back on track now.
Hope someone somewhere has some sunshine!

Grammaretto Tue 31-May-22 08:08:02

Good morning from the Scottish Borders. There was rain overnight but clear today. I'm off to meet a pal at the retail park. I need blinds for my bedroom as I'm woken at 4am by the ? streaming in. We'll then have lunch at the garden centre and be forced to buy plants...grin
Now what has been going on here! Marydoll in A&E. I hope you are ok??
grandMattie baking for England and others including Urms getting caught up in airport chaos.
I'm joining in a Jubilee picnic after a 6 mile walk on Thursday. Do I wear red, white and blue?
Enjoy today as best you can everyone.

Good morning all and it’s damp here in Essex.

We were woken at 2 am by next door neighbour shouting and hammering on the downstairs doors and windows trying to wake his flat mate (the house has been made into two flats. )
His upstairs flat was on fire!
Two fire engines arrived and the fire was put out. I felt so sorry for them . The upstairs chap was carrying his elderly dog around . Goodness knows what started it.

Today I have Bridge club but will do some housework this morning

Sar. Safe and trouble free travelling for you ?

Urms - enjoy your family holiday, now you are there. ?

Marydoll I hope you are feeling better. ?

Hope all your days are ‘good’ ones. ????

Marydoll Tue 31-May-22 07:58:42

Good morning all, not from A&E, but from my bed. Its a cloudy 9° here in Glasgow.

Yesterday, I phoned NHS 24 after I couldn't get through to my surgery.
The clinician insisted that I go immediately to A&E, where despite the massive queues, I was triaged within ten minutes and spent the next six hours, being given a full MOT, despite my protests that I just wanted confirmation that I could break open my emergency steroids.
I was treated quickly and efficiently, with the utmost kindness, by a staff under enormous pressure. ( I will not go into the saga of the underwired bra in x-ray and trying to preserve my dignity!)

There were trolleys and wheelchairs everywhere, clogging up corridors, with one woman constantly screaming in pain. I found it all a bit upsetting to hear her distress.
Being me, I didn't want to spoil DH's golf and disturb my family at work miles away, who would have just panicked, so I didn't let on. Also, I knew DH wouldn't have been allowed in anyway and would have been waiting for hours in a waiting room, where many weren't masked! ?.
I am now in the bad books for keeping quiet.

The kind doctor, who treated me, organised every test imaginable, convinced the problem wasn't my lungs, but my heart, especially as my BP was sky high and my ECG was a bit irregular.
He was correct. The post Covid cough has put further strain on my heart and the dreaded, heart attack indicator, blood test revealed, I have had a cardiac incident at some point over the weekend.
The main reason for the breathlessness is my heart, which is failing. If the enzyme levels had been any higher, I would have been admitted, so I was fortunate there!
The good news is that there is still no sign of rheumatoid lung, which wouldn't have been good news at all. Every cloud has a silver lining! ?
Nothing can be done to improve things, so I just need to get on with life.
I am actually relieved to have had the full works, instead of having to wait for months to see people and then have my appointment cancelled at the last minute.

DH eventually arrived after a number of stressful phone calls, where his unadmitted (is that an actual word?) deafness caused the usual problems.
The doctor suggested I call him in the waiting room to explain, what was happening. He couldn't hear a word, so I just gave up in tears, when he blamed the noise of everyone around him.

So here I am, safely back home and ready to greet Dollie, whose mum has to go to work today.
I checked with the doctor, who checked my notes, which confirmed I had an immunity to chickenpox and he saw no problem with me being in contact with her.
The initial plan was that I should go to her home, to escape the lodgers (DIL'S idea ?), but she will now come here instead, to be properly spoiled by her papa and uncle.

While I was lying in hospital, I received a text from Test and Protect. Initially, I thought it was a scam, but it was an actual appointment for my fifth vaccination! That was an unexpected surprise, as I have had nothing but problem, trying to access the previous ones.
I misread the text and thought it was for the same date as the Glesca Grannies, ?, but it is on a Sunday, so huge sigh of relief!

I am envious of your trip Pants, shopping in sunny Malaga, followed I hope, by tapas and a chilled wine! Bliss.
I hope Urms is enjoying family time and anyone else on holiday is having a good time.

For those who are poorly, I wish you all a gentle day. Baubles is never far from my thoughts and Susan, I hope mum is improving.?
I'm off now to read all your news. Have a good day folks.

Urmstongran Tue 31-May-22 07:41:37

We should have taken you with us grandMattie! ??

Urmstongran Tue 31-May-22 07:39:36

The view from our balcony just now.

brook2704 Tue 31-May-22 07:39:35

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s cool, grey and damp, a lot different from the sunshine of Switzerland
Our journey home yesterday was long but ok, no delays but it’s just the time it takes to get back up here. Basel airport is quite small and run with the usual Swiss efficiency and at Edinburgh there was just a short queue at border control. We’ve had a lovely time with DS and it was really good to catch up with all his news. Today it’s unpacking, washing and recovering from a busy few days
So sorry to hear about your cancelled procedure grandmadinosaur hopefully your BP will settle and it can be rescheduled soon - sending hugs you must be feeling very fed up about it
Safe journey home Sar
What an awful airport experience Urms hope everyone is fully recovered now and has an amazing holiday together
Enjoy your day in Malaga pants sounds just perfect!
Wow that’s some baking marathon gMattie well done you, I’m sure they’re delicious and will be enjoyed by many
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?

BlueBalou Tue 31-May-22 07:37:37

Good morning everyone!
Thank you Pantglas, we’re having a great time although the DDog, DGCs and I got drenched walking at Ynyslas yesterday morning- I had to phone DS to come and rescue us! It was a lovely sunny day once the storm passed.
DS wants to do an 80km bike ride today so I’ll take everyone off to the nature reserve with a picnic.
Here’s hoping for sunshine ☀️

grandMattie Tue 31-May-22 07:37:27

When the children were young, I used to collect stuff for them, put them into bags. They knew exactly what was in them, but we’re only allowed to pick one thing per hour and read/play with them. They knew the rules and were content with that. It worked even on 16 hour flights!

Urmstongran Tue 31-May-22 07:37:09

We were the same as you in March off to Malaga NannyJan - from taxi, through passport control and security and out into the airport lounge only took an amazing 15 minutes then. But it’s half term now, there are loads more flights and the staff are stretched too thinly. ‘Belts & shoes’ as I call the scanning area only had 2 scanners operational out of a possible 8. You can only imagine the tailback.

kittylester Tue 31-May-22 07:36:41

Good morning all from a cloudy North Leicestershire where it has started to drizzle.

I am going to an AgeUk (Dementia Service) volunteer event today. Part training, part a thank you and lots of socialising. DH is off to the cricket this evening.

Sending support and love to all who need it!

Susan56 Tue 31-May-22 07:34:59

Glad you are all safely in Ibiza Urms and sorry you had such a dreadful time at the airport.

I hope your stepfather is feeling better and wishing you all a brilliant holiday???

Urmstongran Tue 31-May-22 07:32:16

Best way to look at it dragonfly. At one stage the Boy Wonder sighed and said “this is boring”. I channelled my inner late mum and replied “it’s the same for everyone in here, don’t you think we’re all bored?”. Not a peep after that. ?

Susan56 Tue 31-May-22 07:32:13

Good morning from Shropshire.Weather isn’t great which is a shame as all the family will be here to celebrate DH’s birthday.Hopefully the children will be able to get into the garden at some point or heaven help the house?

Grandmadinosaur, I am so sorry your procedure didn’t go ahead. What a shock about your blood pressure.Try and relax, easier said than done after unexpected health news I know?

Wow, grandMattie that was a baking marathon.Hoping for a relaxing day for you today.

Have a brilliant day Pantglas????I have been hoping to hear from Urms as well??they are now settled in their holiday hotel.

Marydoll, hope you are home and on the mend???

Thinking of you all and hoping everyone has the best day they can??

NannyJan53 Tue 31-May-22 07:31:29

Good morning from a rainy Black Country.

We are back after a week away in the caravan to Bude. We were quite lucky with the weather. Had a lovely sunny trip to Padstow, where although it is early in the season it was very busy. Photo is Padstow harbour.

The usually washing today, and some admin.

Blimey Urms we are off to Rhodes in June from Birmingham Airport, I hope we don't experience the same. We flew to Lanzarote from there in March, and we sailed through. No queues whatsoever. Now you are there I wish you a really lovely time with the family.

I have missed all your news as no wifi on caravan site, so sorry to see that Marydoll was in A & E. I hope she is back home now and is ok.

Wishing you all a good day.

Gwenisgreat1 Tue 31-May-22 07:29:39

Good morning all from wet Harrogate - a great day to go to the hairdresser and I don’t think! Got to get a move on. I don’t know where you find the energy GrandMattie
Hope Marydoll is on the road to recovery.
This afternoon we have been invited to afternoon tea with some neighbours which will be lovely, pity about the weather though.
Sar your holiday sounds marvellous, but you will probably be glad to be home
Have the best day possible folks

dragonfly46 Tue 31-May-22 07:23:23

So pleased you got there Urms the airport sounds horrendous but worth it.

Urmstongran Tue 31-May-22 07:21:10

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from Ibiza where the sun’s up and we are again forecast 31°C! It’s lovely being back here but the chaos at Manchester airport was every bit as dire as is being reported in the media. With over 3 hours delay it meant we didn’t get to bed here until after 2am. My poor stepfather looked absolutely shattered in the taxi. Lack of staff was most apparent. I felt as sorry for the super hardworking staff who were there as much as us passengers treated like cattle.

Queues everywhere, people dozing on their bags on the floor as there weren’t enough seats. Huge queues for any bars serving food, we gave up on all of them but even Boots had shelves empty of any sandwiches or water. Aargh! No water in W H Smith. Himself eventually managed to get some from a vending machine off the main drag.

Never mind, we’re here. Off down for breakfast now - our hotel has the best view with the beach just across the road and we all have breakfast together on the terrace while the sun isn’t too scorchio! I had toasted sourdough with avocado and smoked salmon yesterday. I could get used to this life of no food shopping, prepping and cooking ha!
