Printed newpapers

Landline phones

Why does this not surprise me? ?????

The monarchy to be replaced with an elected Head of State

Well there is no need for perms any more because it's fashionable to look like you've just got out of bed and haven't brushed your hair. The hairstyles you see on TV are appalling!

Callistemon21 Wed 01-Jun-22 10:50:42

I have a friend in her 80s who still has perms.
They are very loose and I wouldnt have known if she hadn't said.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 01-Jun-22 10:47:32

Yes, I have a friend the same age as HM who doesn't feel tidy without her regular perm.

Bellanonna Wed 01-Jun-22 10:47:23

Very high heels

Bellanonna Wed 01-Jun-22 10:46:09

Do perms still happen?

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 01-Jun-22 10:19:52

Ladies ruining their hair by getting regular perms.

Like others, I think cash and landlines.

I think I could manage without cash although would not wish to do so but I should hate not to have a landline.

Formal Dinner parties
Women's magazines

Church attendance, maybe not gone, but much diminished.
Many more churches closed.

Oh I don't know, DanniRae, I think physical photos are making a comeback.

Best one yet!

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 01-Jun-22 09:09:43

Frozen potatoes? I’ve never heard of them, except frozen chips.

DanniRae Wed 01-Jun-22 09:07:08

Potato peelers - for jacket and new potatoes I leave the skin on.
for chips and mash I use frozen potatoes.
Making pastry - I haven't made pastry in years - frozen pastry
is better than any I ever made!
Photo albums - Sadly!

Bellanonna Wed 01-Jun-22 09:04:43

Cheques!

Bellanonna Wed 01-Jun-22 09:04:22

Plug-in satnavs (I actually use mine although I don’t go very far now). Both DDs use their ‘phones and of course newer cars are fitted with inbuilt ones.

Manners. e.g. holding the door for someone in a shop and not getting a thank you.

Oh they always get a very audible “you’re welcome” from me!
(At least one of us is polite ?).

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 01-Jun-22 08:53:29

Manners won’t disappear with us. My son and his friends were brought up to have good manners and they aren’t alone, though sadly a great many younger people seem totally unaware of what manners are. Also some not so young people - I was very surprised to see Jay Blades keeping his cap on in a Church.

Honeysuckleberries

Common sense.

That’s already on its way out!

Casdon Wed 01-Jun-22 08:26:02

We are a nation of foodies. I can’t imagine napkins and tablecloths, home cooking or restaurants and pubs disappearing - there are plenty of younger people enjoying them all, and many of them like formal tables.

Sewing, cooking from scratch.

With the current trend for pre-loved/vintage clothes I think many more folks are getting into sewing.

Every other TV programme is food related, my GC have all started baking:cooking as soon as they could stand at the kitchen table. Not sure if cooking will ever disappear.
