A normal upbringing, whatever that is, is not very likely to be possible for any child in the direct succession to a throne.
Nor would it be likely to serve well as an apprenticeship.
Looking back, I feel a lot of mistakes were made in the upbringing of Prince Charles, Princess Anne and their two younger brothers.
Were the schools they were sent to the wisest choices? My parents and those of my class-mates certainly were surprised. And none of us "ordinary" Scottish school-children would have been allowed to behave in public, as Charles and Anne did as teenagers. Swearing at judges at horse-shows and so on, which both Charles and Anne did.
Royal children have to realise that their privileges come at a price - they are, or should be, servants of their country.
It may be that William and Harry have had an even worse upbringing that either of their parents, or it may not.
It is to be hoped that the entire Royal Family has learned by now how not to bring up children!
Presumably, Prince Charles will become king on his mother's death, and it is to be hoped that his wife will be accorded the title of Queen Consort, and not be left in the peculiar position of having a much lower rank, just because she is her husband's second wife.
However, this may never come to pass, because looking at the Jubilee photos, I wonder how well Prince Charles actually is? To me he looks in poor health for a man of 73.
