I’m a freak. I put my arms in first, I always have done. I also do it from backwards, so cross my arms over and put the garment on with the front facing me when I start. I have no idea why.

Elizabeth I’ve seen (and helped ?) hundreds of little boys and girls get dressed and undressed for PE, and even they do it.
I’ve lived with quite a few young women in my student days.
I’ve also had a fair number of boyfriends ?

I've noticed that too!

I wouldn't say that all men or all women follow that pattern, but certainly a significant majority.

I have tried the arms-in-the-sleeves-first technique, quite recently, just to see if it might have any advantages over my usual way of donning a t-shirt. It didn't, or at least none that I was aware of.

I will have to do a lot of research on the subject.

Elizabeth I m on the beach a lot and see people changing I also have had ‘one or two’ lovers etc and have a son and grandsons they all use that arms first thing and you see it in films etc
I always thought about it like fanny presumed it was the hair thing or more comfortable that way but that doesn’t account for small kids does it

Or women not wanting to mess their hair up

I haven’t seen enough people put on a t-shirt to comment. But would assume that if this is correct that women want to protect their hairstyle and men not so much.

How many people do you see getting dressed?

BlueBelle Sun 05-Jun-22 14:35:23

Yes I ve always noticed this no idea why as it’s not taught as far as I know Perhaps it
S to do with men not having buzzies

That men and women put tops, t-shirts etc on using different techniques?

Women tend to put it on over their head first; and then do the sleeves bit.

Whereas men put their arms in the sleeves first; and then put it over their head.
(I’ve never even attempted this method - it seems so alien)

In my experience this is universal.
I wonder why?
