Virtual cruise Lyon to Avignon and Arles

CaravanSerai Sun 19-Jun-22 22:41:30

Tomorrow, as we shall be staying for a second night in Aix, instead of the usual evening lecture, I have arranged for something a little different; a life study class in the gardens of the Hotel Villa Gallici.

Our model will be dressed and positioned in the style of Cezanne's Homme Assis.

By great good fortune, as I was asking le maître d'hôtel if he could recommend a tall, bearded model for us, who should stroll through the lobby but a tall, bearded Colin Firth who is here on location for his latest film. He has graciously agreed to sit for us.

Those who wish to paint may buy their materials in Le Works d'Aix. Those who do not wish to paint may simply sit and look longingly at the model. Mr Firth is used to this.

As usual, orderly (and I mean orderly) queue for 18:00 start.

Yes Lucca. I think Ben Whishaw would be a good choice too.

Speaking of handsome men.

Painter François Marius Granet (portrait by Ingres) who endowed the Musée Granet and Croatian actor Goran Višnjić who should play him in any film. What do you think?

Colin Firth is my answer to any question of this genre, but actually I think Ben wishaw is a good likeness

Dont please get rid of all the pains ! Les ficelles, les baguettes, les pains au chocolat…..

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 19-Jun-22 21:41:28

I think I can cope too. With difficulty of course, but needs must … another ?will ease the disappointment.?

MawtheMerrier Sun 19-Jun-22 21:38:17

Ooh I like that mean, brooding look. I’ll happily stay another day. Fancy having our very own Musée- not that ANY of us is old enough to feature in it.
That leaves us tomorrow to top up our tans, have our hair done, nails etc, maybe a little light shopping.
Somebody’s got to do it (bravely) I can cope.

CaravanSerai Sun 19-Jun-22 21:36:57

They might open if we use Brünnhilde to storm the doors!

ixion Sun 19-Jun-22 21:29:14

?
Bad news - Musée Gransnet is closed tomorrow.
Please can we stay another day?

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 19-Jun-22 21:26:47

Eminently fanciable!

Never mind kisses, I'll settle for a ride on this.

MawtheMerrier Sun 19-Jun-22 20:43:32

??????? Brilliant!

CaravanSerai Sun 19-Jun-22 20:36:53

Here in Ukraine
Where the bombs fall like rain
And every day is near misses

Though we still need your aid
Of the kind weapons grade
I do not want your silly French kisses

Joseanne Sun 19-Jun-22 20:28:29

?

I might be a tart
But I have a good ❤
I'm also quite smart
And those bubbles you see
are from the jacuzee
(Or the ? )
Not me.

CaravanSerai Sun 19-Jun-22 20:23:47

French tarts, obviously. I think it was a pun. wink

MawtheMerrier Sun 19-Jun-22 20:20:19

Well Left Wing Loonies might not be too welcome!
I was expecting big bisous all round from Emmanuel like he gave the somewhat underwhelmed-looking Zelenskiy!
