Virtual cruise Lyon to Avignon and Arles

Oh dear.
All semblance of culture has gone out of CS' fenêtre ouverte .

(Well, I presume that's what it means. You didn't tell me what it meant in English....)

^Fantasy ménage à trois would be with Stanley Tucci and Mark Strong^. Well! (Clutches pearls) this thread has deteriorated grin

Oh, here comes the waiter - Is that a whisk in his apron pocket or is he……..

Lowering the tone one post at a time, that's me! It's more of a zigzag really. Something cultural, something not so.

... or is he pleased to see me with stiffened ...

... egg whites, obviously. What were you thinking?

I thoroughly enjoyed S Tucci’s Italy food programmes and think he’s a snappy dresser (envy his glasses) but not fanciable ?‍♀️

À chacun son goût Lucca. I have a thing for sharp-dressed Italian men. Fantasy ménage à trois would be with Stanley Tucci and Mark Strong. smile

BTW I have a man from Viviers lined up to deliver a lecture on cement at 18:00 hours. Form an orderly queue.

If the captain has abandoned ship I don’t mind taking the helm. Although my navigation certificate expired some years ago I think I’m still ok ? What’s the worst that could happen ?
Plus, I’ve sailed from Calais to Marseilles 4 times. If someone else wants to have a go, that’s fine. Just keep me fed and watered.

Or andouillette…..

Please not andouillette. I once read a translation of that word as ‘gristle sausage’.
Thanks MawtheMerrier, I’m spending today on the sun deck, singing along to “La Mer”, even though we’re on a rivière.?

The most revolting item of food ever !

I saw some being made on Rick Stein's programme and they looked disgusting - I wouldn't even feed them to the dog.

I'll just nibble on a croissant, thanks.

My ex insisted on trying them as he could “eat anything”

It defeated him

Damn. There goes my date with a Klingon. I'm going to have to fight Maw for Tucci.

Where are we? Are we en route for Viviers? If so, I rather like this down to earth guide:

You should also take a look at the ancient stone bridge (the Pont Romain) across the Escoutay river. The bridge has 11 arches and dates from the 2nd or 3rd century.

So far so good ...

Behind the old town (just behind Viviers cathedral) there is a far reaching view across the roofs of the town and across the Rhone river to the distant mountains, as well as a large statue of the madonna standing on the hill above the town.

Also good ... but ...

The view is slightly less idyllic than it might be because it also includes a distant power station and cement factory but it's well worth taking a look.

If I lose the scrap for Tucci I'm going to find a man to come and give a talk on cement and serves you right!

MawtheMerrier Wed 15-Jun-22 10:19:22

Let's make it open mic too - that should see off any intruders on the starboard bow!

ixion Wed 15-Jun-22 10:04:35

Let's have a Chefs' Nite tomorrow, then?
We can get Joseanne to source our favourite chef.
They can come along tomorrow evening with tasting menus and we can nibble our most favourable bits bites.?

MawtheMerrier Wed 15-Jun-22 10:01:26

?Tucci face, you’ve got the cutest little Tucci face ?

CaravanSerai Wed 15-Jun-22 09:57:15

Oo, er. ixion Now having second thoughts about going with the flow. Dishy actor Stanley Tucci was on Graham Norton's show backalong taking about eating horse's colon and how utterly distgusting it was so Noooooo! to that. Any chance Tucci is anywhere near the Rhône and could make us all a negroni? Joseanne. Good to see you back. Your mission today is to find Stanley to add to your posse of handsome gourmets.

I have to see a (wo)man about a chien today but will be back later - I will eat anything other than escargots or frogs’ legs.?

CaravanSerai Wed 15-Jun-22 08:49:23

Morning all. I hope people managed a trip to the Castle Museum in Tournon. Some interesting art there and magnificent views across the river. They have some work by Fauvist Raoul Dufy. Not this one which is called Fenêtre ouverte à Saint-Jeannet (near Vence the Maritime Alpes) and is in the Kessler Collection at the Tate but it would be such a lovely fresh morning view to wake up to I thought I'd share.

Thanks for donning la toque blanche ixion. I'll go with the flow.

I'll cook tonight - someone else can step up to the pass (see, too much Masterchef viewing) tomorrow. Unless Joseanne will step in?
What does everyone want? Orders in by 16.00, svp

Can't stop now ...
But great, you cook, and I'll do the booze. Fred has given me lots of recommendations!

Has the captain left? Who’s doing the sailing bit?

We are taking it in turns, all very democratic here. Hourly stints, form an orderly queue.

All necessary training provided ?‍?
