Been in A and E 6 hours and not seen a doctor. Trying not to scream. Finished my book.

I do hope the pain has subsided enough for you to have that planned family meal this evening Lucca
It sounds like just what you could do with after today!
Maybe though you you are so tired you just want to go home and relax.

Baggs Sun 19-Jun-22 13:57:57

Hope you can rest now and don't get a recurrence of the pain. What an absolute bore for you. Glad the doc could reassure you.

MawtheMerrier Sun 19-Jun-22 13:57:57

ixion Sun 19-Jun-22 13:58:45

Yay.
Not only good that you are 'let go' but that you have a reasoned and acceptable response/diagnosis!
Always helps!
Enjoy Matteo, the meal and the vibrant company tonight (and that's just the Cruisers

I should return to being a loony leftie on the N and P threads !(on second thoughts I haven’t the energy !)

Bad idea, save your energy!

As Lucca had to be so 'patient', I looked up the origin of the word.

"The word patient originally meant 'one who suffers'. This English noun comes from the Latin word patiens, the present participle of the deponent verb, patior, meaning 'I am suffering,' and akin to the Greek verb πάσχειν and its cognate noun πάθος. A sick, injured, wounded, or other person requiring medical and/or dental care or treatment."

I'm glad you were seen eventually, and thanks to the op who suggested packing a hospital bag, I've been meaning to do this for ages.

Have they got an MRI scanner?

????????

Hi Lucca

Firstly, I am glad it has worked out for you.

The reason I asked, quite possibly somewhat clumsily, as to whether they have got an MRI scanner is that I noted that you had written Seen a doctor all a bit if a mystery and having read of people where they could not find anything wrong and sent them home and then something was found, I was concerned that they might just send you home without having found a cause, coupled with the fact that you posted about having been there for 6 hours at a bit after 10 am implied that you probably went, or got taken, to hospital at first light this morning.

I was in hospital with abdomen problems several years ago now, pre-covid, actually admitted direct, straightaway, by my GP, and at first they could not find what was wrong, but upon putting me in an MRI scanner they found the problem, which diagnosis was acted upon.

So, what I had in mind, and I accept that I did not express it, was that if they were just going to send you home without knowing what was wrong then if you had asked if they could scan your abdomen with an MRI scanner then that might have prompted them to do it and that might have helped you.

So, I meant well.

Lucca Sun 19-Jun-22 15:21:27

Ok.I’m sure they would have done that if necessary! But thanks.

SueDonim Sun 19-Jun-22 15:25:50

I’m glad you’re recovering, Lucca. You must be exhausted, though. flowers

Hope you have a good evening, whatever you do.

Hellogirl1 Sun 19-Jun-22 17:36:04

Glad you`re home now Lucca. Last year, my daughter was persuaded, against her will, that she needed to be in hospital. An ambulance came, we told them she hadn`t yet had her tea, they said she`ll be given something at the hospital. She was taken to A & E, and was left, sitting on a hard chair, on her own, for 18 hours, with no refreshment offered. She has severe rheumatoid arthritis, can`t walk or even stand, and can`t feed herself.

muse Sun 19-Jun-22 21:13:23

What a day Lucca. Do hope you don't have to go back though.

Ali08 Sun 19-Jun-22 22:50:50

Glad it wasn't too serious, Lucca. I hope you've been able to enjoy your evening! x

I have a different experience of A&E.
A few weeks ago, I phoned my GP to ask for advice on emergency medication I keep at home. Forgetting it was a Monday holiday, I ended up speaking to someone from NHS 24.
I was told to go straight to A&E, where an appointment had been made for me.
Withing ten minutes of arrival, I was seen, assessed and into a cubicle immediately, as I am CEV.
An ECG was done right away, bloods done and a canula inserted, "just in case" This was followed by chest x rays cand further tests to check my heart.
I had a full MOT done and was home seven hours later.
I know how exceptional that experience and humbled by the kindness and care I received.

Luccs, ?
