WELCOME. How pleased I am to be able to say...we have a new gathering place.

cornergran Thu 07-Jul-22 22:33:20

A busy day painting skirting boards and door frames for me. I know I’m strange but I really enjoyed it. Good to see the (not quite) finished article. I’ll get back to it on Monday, no time until then.

Good news about your grandson grandmab, there has also been wine here and very nice it was too.

Hope all is well with soop and Kitcheners in the sick bay are soon released.

Sleep well everyone.

Nannytopsy Thu 07-Jul-22 21:33:20

Wow Jax, those are pretty lively!
We have BT sport, for the rugby but I have added on Sky sports for 3 months as an anniversary pressie so DH can watch his beloved rugby from Australia and also we love cricket. Sadly, England have lost the cricket tonight ?.
It has been a quiet day in the kitchen - Soop must have been umpiring!
Hope everyone has a good evening and sleeps well xx

Jaxjacky Thu 07-Jul-22 21:18:54

Thank you Yia fingers crossed your BIL is as good as he can be, such a trauma.

Yiayia4 Thu 07-Jul-22 20:48:39

Love the nail colour Jax.
Pleased your DGS is improving Grandmabatty.
No more news from Australia, hopefully a a good sign.
Sitting on my garden swing enjoying a glass of Provence Rose plenty for you all.

brook2704 Thu 07-Jul-22 20:27:46

Love the colour Jax very summery! Thanks for the pic

Jaxjacky Thu 07-Jul-22 19:58:58

Very loud brook so unlike my naturally unassuming nature ?

brook2704 Thu 07-Jul-22 19:51:13

So pleased your DGS seems to be improving grandmabatty at long last. Enjoy your time with both of them tomorrow and have a well earned rest later ?
I’ve been out in the garden today too, mowing, weeding and watering mostly - all looking much better now.
Sounds like you’ve been busy today Jax hope the phones were all ok and enjoy watching the cricket. What colour did you go for on your toenails?

Jaxjacky Thu 07-Jul-22 19:31:31

Busy bée Grandmabatty pleased your grandson is improving, hope that continues.
I’ve had my toenails painted, been to the library and vape shop and taken calls on the voluntary line.
It’s a glorious evening, best part of the day, we’re watching cricket, just down the road at the Ageas bowl. Dinner is on the way, If I may pinch a small slice brook and actually provide MrJ with a semblance of pud!

Grandmabatty Thu 07-Jul-22 18:44:15

It is quiet in the kitchen. Maybe everyone is out sunbathing? I am very fond of lemon drizzle cake Brook. I'll leave some gooseberry jam. I have worked hard today. Lots of watering, weeding, pruning, dead heading, cleaning, ironing and jam making (finally) I've built a high chair for dgs2 as well. Both boys are coming for four hours tomorrow so I'll need to be organised. Dgs1 seems to be on the mend and is much brighter. Thank you ladies for your kind words. I'm having a little wine so have a good evening Kitcheners.

brook2704 Thu 07-Jul-22 17:51:54

A very quiet kitchen this afternoon, shush… I’ll tiptoe in, pop the kettle on and leave some lemon drizzle cake on the side

Jaxjacky Thu 07-Jul-22 09:50:32

Morning all. Have a thoroughly lovely trip out today Blossoming

Blossoming Wed 06-Jul-22 23:26:06

I’m very late today, Mr. B and I have been very busy and finished the day off by watching a lovely film called Mr. Pip. It was quite tragic in parts and very moving, with beautiful music. I’m tucked up in bed with strict orders to turn the screen off by 12, as he is taking me out tomorrow.

Goodnight, TOYA

ShazzaKanazza Wed 06-Jul-22 18:55:25

Good evening dear Kitcheners hoping this finds you well.

Today has been good I enjoyed my gym session today. Headphones on, music playing, in my zone fab!

DGS had a good day at school better than yesterday and he was so giggly at ours. I think he knows he’s going on a school trip tomorrow to Yorkshire Wildlife Park. He was full of fun play fighting with Grandad. That’s when he shows his affection because he doesn’t really like cuddles.

Naughtyneine you really made me laugh when you said about sashaying into work. My type of girl!

Yia thinking of your dear BIL ?

Grandmabatty your poor little GS he’s been through so much. They are so precious and you wish you can take the pain away. Hoping the strong antibiotics help.
I’ll be bringing my bread to have a delicious gooseberry jam sandwich yummy.

I know some of you ladies are Rafa fans so enjoy the match.
Enjoy your evening everyone speak soon. X

brook2704 Wed 06-Jul-22 18:50:08

Soop yes we visited Kingsbridge but only very briefly, we just passed through on the bus from Salcombe to Totnes but it looked like a very pretty place and had lots of bunting hanging up and fluttering in the breeze. Mr Soop sounds like such a lovely man, so good you’ve made so many happy memories together
Yes I’ve read the Salt Path book , Yia it was one of the first books I read about the south west coast path. The walk is just one of those things that once you’ve started walking it you feel that you need to finish it!
Im hoping more than anything that those antibiotics now start to work their magic grandmabatty and your DGS starts to feel a bit better very soon
Thank you for the soup naughtyneine much appreciated. Well done walking in your heels - I’ve had my well worn and trusted hiking boots on for the last week - not at all glamorous or trendy. In fact I’m looking very weather beaten and rustic just now
Hoping your BIL improves a bit Yia
Enjoy the tennis Jax and all ?

Naughtyneine Wed 06-Jul-22 17:09:35

Fingers crossed the mega antibiotics work soon Grandmabatty. Yesterday was a highlight...I wore heels for the first time in over a year....I was called on to help at DOH workplace and comfortable as I was in a pretty pink white stuff dress I got from the charity shop and Birkenstocks I decided that maybe quite a lot of cleavage (dress size 12...lallys are definitely not) was maybe not appropriate so a navy polka dot number made its first appearance along with some 2 inch heel shoes also making a debut....and after initially walking like Miss Piggy I managed to sashay in to the office like I had never had a hip injury or a total hip replacement 11 weeks ago.
Re fluff under furniture... apparently I'm not supposed to do 90 degree bends yet... Having a very blonde moment I thought that meant of you were lying flat on the bed you couldn't bend your knee and drop your leg to one side????Ah well at least all fluff is gone for now and I will claim the no bending rule as a good excuse to not bother looking for a good wee while. No bending was required to make some watercress soup and crusty rolls...anyone wanting a light supper help yourself.

Yiayia4 Wed 06-Jul-22 16:10:39

So sorry to hear your DGS is so poorly Grandmabatty hope the antibiotics do the trick.
Pleased you’ve had a good time Brook have you read the Salt Path it’s about some of the walk your doing.
BIL is fighting hard he his a very strong man, we’re all hoping and praying he pulls through.
Very warm here today and getting warmer, nice to sit in the garden.
Have a pleasant evening everyone.

Jaxjacky Wed 06-Jul-22 14:24:05

Your poor grandson Grandmabatty he’s going through the mill, let’s hope the double dose works and quickly.
What an amazing walk, more like a marathon, you’ve both done brook beautiful pictures, thank you, bet you didn’t want to get out of that bath.
I could imagine our water meter spinning early this morning as I drenched the garden and soaked the greenhouse. The next ten days are looking increasingly warm, no sign of rain.
I too am writing off afternoons soop all jobs are being done in the morning, it’s now the tennis gets interesting.
Enjoy your afternoon all.

Grandmabatty Wed 06-Jul-22 13:17:37

Afternoon kitcheners. Soop sadly dgs1 has a double ear infection. Dd has him back at the doctor's today. He's on industrial strength antibiotics instead a spray. He's a poor wee man. My aunt and uncle's dog is undergoing surgery today for cancer. They are devastated as he is their life. We're all rooting for him to pull through. I'm making gooseberry jam soon so I'll leave some in the kitchen. Have a good afternoon kitcheners.

soop Wed 06-Jul-22 11:58:57

corner Yay! A new dress and t-shirt, purchased in Wells. Sounds perfectly right and proper to me. What is the dress like?

Grandmabatty I'm also sorry to hear that your wee grandson's ear is still painful. He seems to have been poorly with it for far too long. Our now adult grandson had ongoing ear trouble. As a child, he had surgery and has been pain-free ever since.

I apologise yet again (to you lovely lot) for being lazy and not visiting the kitchen as often as I should during Wimbledon fortnight. I shall do better after the finals. grin

soop Wed 06-Jul-22 11:48:02

SueD Naturally, your daughter's graduation was a red letter day. A memory that you will treasure.
I am relieved that your mother was in good spirits, 'though hospitalised. I can also imagine how much she wishes to "set free" so that she can escape to her home.
Oh no! Your husband has Covid. Thankfully, his symptoms are not too serious. Take good care of him and yourself.

Jax I can hardly believe that it has been a year since Imogen's seizure. It was an awful time. Thank goodness she remains well. Our grandchildren are precious people.

Shazza I was glued to my umpire's chair throughout Cam's match. It was a thriller. He seems a well-grounded man. I'll continue to root for him when he meets with the heavy brigade.

Grandmabatty I've space in the cupboard for a complimentary jar (or two) of gooseberry jam. Thank you in advance.

brook I am genuinely in awe of your ability to walk...and walk...and continue walking. I also know Salcombe. Did you visit Kingsbridge? I lived there for a time. MrS motored from Cornwall to meet me there for the first time in 1988. Fond memories of a particularly significant occasion.

brook2704 Tue 05-Jul-22 20:53:23

shazza sorry to hear about your worries about your DGS, it’s so hard when you can’t really do anything to help, if he’s not done it for a while hopefully it’ll be something he’ll gradually grow out of ❤️

Grandmabatty Tue 05-Jul-22 20:46:24

You are a lovely lot in the kitchen! Many thanks for your concern about dgs1. Cornergran I have masses of moussaka left. I'll leave some for you in the kitchen. Brook it sounds like you have had a great time.

brook2704 Tue 05-Jul-22 20:45:07

Not really that fit grannmarie but we go at a slow pace with frequent stops
We had our picnic lunch on the bench in the photo today before walking the path on the side of the hill. The ponies joined us on the cliff top

Hoping your wee DGS is fully better soon grandmabatty

Grannmarie Tue 05-Jul-22 20:18:08

Well done Brook and MrB on your walkathon ?‍♂️?‍♀️, great way to really appreciate the landscape. You must be so fit!

Grandmabatty, sorry to hear that the wee boy still has a sore ear, poor wee lamb. Maybe a different antibiotic is required?

Shazza, I'm a worrier like you, especially about my grandchildren. It's my default setting!
TOYA, NNGB ?.

cornergran Tue 05-Jul-22 20:12:04

Goodness jax it can’t have been a year ago we were all concerned for Imogen. Time flies for sure. What excellent news. You must be so relieved.

Good news about your mum but covid truly is bad luck sued, get well wishes winging to your husband and a virtual shield for you.

Hope your grandson is more comfortable soon grandmabatty. Ear pain is foul. I love moussaka, if there’s any spare please send this way.

Can understand your worry about your grandson shazza, sorry I don’t have any helpful suggestions, wish I did

Went a wander to Wells today. We love the garden at the Bishop's Palace, somehow I was drawn to the shops and found myself coming back with a new dress and t-shirt. Oops. No idea how that happened grin.

TOYA.
