WELCOME. How pleased I am to be able to say...we have a new gathering place.

Susan56 Sun 03-Jul-22 12:59:06

Sorry to hear about your falls Blossoming and Hellogirl.I hope you both start to feel better soon.

Sending good wishes to all unwell and with family worries and wishing happy times to all on holiday or spending time with family.

We are having a quiet day after having Henry and Miss M to stay for a couple of days???

Thankyou for your kind thoughts re my mum Granmarie. It’s a difficult situation. She has told me she is moving to be near me and has told my brother she is moving near him.We live just over 100 miles from each other?‍♀️When I asked her what she wanted to do she was very unpleasant.Neither my brother or myself mind where she moves to but we know she needs to be near one of us.I have no idea where to start sorting things.

Anyway, I will wish you all the best day possible.TOYA

soop Sun 03-Jul-22 12:58:39

A warm welcome back to the kitchen, dear Baubles. Your gift of chocs is gleefully received. After my colon was removed, it took about six weeks before my diet gradually returned to a more normal and enjoyable routine. I think of you often and continue to wish you a comfortable recovery. smile

brook You are amazing. I know Wembury. A very pretty part Devon.

hulahoop It is a very difficult choice, isn't it? I am totally drained of energy. Dread going back to the meds but we really have few options. All hormone inhibitors work the same way. Without them, we risk the return of something far worse. We'll keep each other posted. flowers

Yia Oh dear! What an awful shock for you and your husband. His brother has been through a nightmareish experience. It so difficult having him live at the other side of the world. Does he have family to support him?

Shazza The day will come. Those longed for words will be spoken. We will all celebrate when that happens.

Yesterday, I sampled a delicious but lethal malt. Friends invited us to taste it. Mr S had a weeny taste and I, because I didn't need to drive, had two drams. Boy! When I returned home, I clambered into my umpire's chair and slept soundly. Mr S had spent a productive afternoon. I felt guilty. I apologised. He said...rubbish! You enjoyed yourself. Why not. It was good to see you wearing a very happy, cheeky smile. Bless him.

Yiayia4 Sat 02-Jul-22 14:59:48

Good afternoon everyone. Not a hope of catching up but wishing you all well.
Got home late last night after a fabulous few weeks in our beloved Greece.Lots of holiday washing to do and catching up in the garden.

Unfortunately some sad news this morning,DH’s brother has had both legs amputated due to gangrene and sepsis! He lives in Australia so it’s very difficult for DH,all we can do is wait for news.
DDL ‘s father is still in hospital waiting for a home with one to one care and the funding.

Leave you with a last pic of a little church by the sea.Beautiful Corfu.

Hellogirl1 Sat 02-Jul-22 11:05:09

Sorry to hear you`ve had another fall Blossoming, hope you`re not too sore. I fell going into the vets the other week, landed on my left knee, the swelling still hasn`t gone down.
Grandmabatty, I hope your grandson is feeling better. At least he won`t have had to be daubed with gentian violet as would have happened when I was a child. I still remember children with purple faces, and other kids cruelly shouting "He/she`s got impetigo!"

baubles Sat 02-Jul-22 09:44:22

Morning kitcheners. I’ve been trying to catch up with all your news but oh my goodness, all this talk of food!

Chocolate ginger anything was always a favourite but oddly I seem to have lost my appetite for chocolate which I could previously consume in industrial quantities. My diet is quite limited at the moment sadly so I’ve brought several boxes of chocolates which kind people have given me, please help yourselves or DH will scoff the lot.

I hope all those with troubles have a better day, thinking of you Baggs and of course dear soop. thanks

Nannytopsy Sat 02-Jul-22 08:48:45

I’m first into the kitchen today which is not like me! My nephew has ‘put the world to rights’ extensively with us over the last couple of evenings and has gone off early to get home for his son’s cricket match. I am getting moving to fetch DS’s dogs for a run on our local dog field. The family are back tomorrow, thank goodness.
It’s very breezy here today and cooler.
There’s a pot of coffee and croissants on the table for you all!
Hope your daughter is home soon kitty

brook2704 Fri 01-Jul-22 21:25:04

So sorry to hear about your fall blossoming hoping you’re not too bruised, look after yourself and take care
Quite a longish walking day today from Seaton up and down and around numerous coves and along cliff tops to Cawsand just west of Plymouth. Since starting on Tuesday we’ve done about 40 miles gillgran and my knees definitely know it. I hope your DD enjoys her walk, the Fen Rivers way sounds lovely! I’ll have to think about doing that one sometime too. Stepwise shazza today was a good one at 46,000 - but they’re not all like that! - I did say to DH that when I’m home at the end of next week I’m going to have a sofa day and not move at all …
Enjoy the time with your family llfl I know it’s tiring but well worth it!
Stunning picture grandmabatty you’re another very talented lady - hope your DGS is feeling a wee bit better
Your DGS sounds delightful shazza I hope one day you’ll hear those special words - in his own time I guess
Jax my DH probably said exactly the same as your DH earlier about his knees being bushwhacked! I hope your DH enjoyed his golf though - I bet he’s pleased to be home - can you send some of that chicken and sweet potato curry over please - it sounds delish!
My DH is from Yorkshire dogsmakemesmile he would agree too!
Enjoy Wimbledon everyone who’s watching ?

Dogsmakemesmile Fri 01-Jul-22 21:00:00

So sorry Blossoming to hear about your fall. I hope you are taking things very easy for a few days.
Soop I hope the consultant's words gave you reassurance and things improve for you. Do look after yourself.
Shazza your dad is absolutely right! There's nowt as lovely as Yorkshire as my (Yorkshire born and bred) grand ma used to say. It is stunning though I am partial to Northumberland and Norfolk.
Had a quiet day. Made bread. Housework. Ddog duties. One of my magazines arrived so had coffee while looking through that. I am getting grown up these days. Need to get the disco music on again...best wishes kitcheners

Jaxjacky Fri 01-Jul-22 19:35:39

Hi all, gosh brook I’ll bet you’ve had some wonderful views, a beautiful area to walk.
Your DD gillgran 5am, goodness, but what a worthwhile cause, the weather should be kind, not too hot.
Blossoming big buggeration with your fall, I’m sure your confidence has taken a dent, you are still doing so well and have my admiration lady ?.
llfl and Shazza enjoy your family times, we all know how precious they are.
MrJ is back from 3 days of golf stating his legs are totally bushwhacked, well, he said another word actually!
Chicken and sweet potato curry in slow cooker, I’ll bid you adieu. x

ShazzaKanazza Fri 01-Jul-22 18:27:00

Good afternoon lovely Kitcheners.
DGS has just gone home. He’s had a good day at school and has been happy at ours. We rely on the school telling us that he’s had a good day because he doesn’t talk. Though tonight as he was putting on his wellies to go in the garden he said ‘I got it’ wonderful to hear. He’s 7 and a delight ❤️ My dream is for him to say Grandma I love you. I will cry.

Blossoming so sorry to hear about your fall today ?

Ladyleftfieldlover enjoy your precious family time.

Beautiful sunset pics as always Soop. Enjoy the tennis hoping Norrie wins tonight. Well done to Heather Watson. ?

Dogsmakemesmile my Dad won’t go on holiday in the summer he’s says there is nowhere better than than their garden and the UK in the summer. They live on the edge of York though so it’s lovely.

Brook your walking holiday is sounding wonderful. I wonder how many steps you are getting each day?

Grannmarie hoping you DH is feeling perkier today

Grandmabatty your picture is amazing. Oh to have talent like you x

Liamsnana another great pic of you little man!

DS is staying here tonight so DH is putting tea on the bbq.
Have a lovely evening all. Speak soon TOYA ?

soop Fri 01-Jul-22 17:44:34

Blossoming Bless you. Sorry to hear that you have had another fall. Will you discuss matters with your GP? I think that you should. flowers

gillgran Well done to your daughter. She will be doing a very worthwhile 32 mile walk tomorrow. I would give her a medal, if I could.

Grandmabatty I love the painting. You have captured the colours and the lighting perfectly. Take a bow.

Ladyleftfieldlover Your guests may well be arriving as I type. You have gone to a great deal of trouble. I know beyond a shadow of doubt that your efforts will be well received. Enjoy your time together.

brook that is a stunning photo.

Am sending all those of you with health concerns a healing hug.

I shall be with you again tomorrow.

smile moon

gillgran Fri 01-Jul-22 16:57:54

Hello to you all, I do love your sunset photos, soop.
I'm also enjoying the tennis, good to still have some Brits to watch.

Sorry you've had another fall, Blossoming, pleased you are getting some tlc in the form of chocolate fudge brownie(s)!

Brook, your walking holiday sounds good, (obviously reminds me of tomorrow).........!!?

Saturday, 2nd July. 5am. starting in Cambridge, my DD is joining her cousins & friends on a BIG walk, they are doing 32 miles of the Fen Rivers Way. That is the reverse journey of the East Anglian Air Ambulance that took a dear family member to Addenbrookes last autumn, (fortunately now recovering at home). We are so grateful to the EAAA for their part in saving a life.

Warm wishes to you all.

Grandmabatty Fri 01-Jul-22 16:56:25

Today's work. Blossoming I hope you are alright and not damaged. Ladyleftfieldlover sounds very tasty. Have a lovely time with family. I'm exhausted. Creating all day takes it out of a gal. Have a good evening Kitcheners.

Blossoming Fri 01-Jul-22 16:30:26

Good afternoon dear Kitcheners. Just dropping in, I’ve had another fall, feeling so disheartened. Mr D is feeding me coffee and a chocolate fudge brownie, after which I may have a nap.

Sending you all best wishes and hugs for poorly grans and families x

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 01-Jul-22 16:01:24

It is the calm before the storm! Son, partner and our granddaughter are on their way from London. They should be here between 5-5.30 pm, I have been asked to make my sausage meatballs and pasta, so I have done. There are also strawberries, lemon iced cream and their favourite chocolate cakes. Their room is ready and now I’m just having a rest!

soop Fri 01-Jul-22 15:20:55

A very good, sunny afternoon to you lovely lot. In a way, I'm relieved that our kitchen is quiet. I have been wrestling with some on-line activity and as a result I'm running late.

Also, Heather Watson has only recently won her match at Wimbledon. It was a most enjoyable game. Lots of variety and plenty of excitement.

I shall call back later. That's a promise. smile

soop Fri 01-Jul-22 12:20:47

grin It is a delight to pop into our kitchen and read the comings and goings of you lovely lot.

I have two bat stories to add to those being shared. Long ago, when I cleaned house for an elderly lady, I came across a bat in one the corridors of the equally old house. Placed it on the upper window ledge with a saucer of water. It eventually flew away. Recently, during a stroll through our village, we came across a bat lying in the middle of the path. It was alive. I carefully carried it in a clean handkerchief, wondering what to do next. We happened across a lady who took it home with her. She has an old barn and told us that she had seen bats flying in and out at dusk. Result! Benjy the bat has a family and a cosy home.

I had a chat with the cancer consultant. To stay off the drug that may be responsible for the chronic fatigue for a further two weeks. After which, she will review the situation and possibly try an alternative. Every little bit of advice helps.

I shall share a beautiful sunset with you before hastening back to my umpire's chair and stash of chocolates for the tasting.

Bye for now. Back again tomorrow. smile moon

Dogsmakemesmile Thu 30-Jun-22 21:40:39

Evening all. I hope soop was given good news. Fingers and toes crossed. shazza I am a total technophobe and had to use the "assistant" on my new phone who only seemed to access a limited choice of music. So disco danced to Bee Gees, Madonna and Tears for Fears with DGD. "Dancing" is perhaps a generous way to describe our movements. Blossoming you are right. It was great fun and a distraction from DGDs desire to finish the Jaffa Cakes.
Finished something I should have done weeks ago, cleaned and walked ddog a few times. Neither of us really like the heat so I aimed for shade as much as possible.
School holidays now. So much of my child care not required. Intend to relax for several weeks. No holidays planned as such but we live in a beautiful place so content to stare at familiar scenery. My best wishes to all especially those troubled by family illness or worries.

Blossoming Thu 30-Jun-22 21:21:39

Good evening dear Kitcheners, just a flying visit, in bed with an upset tum. Will catch up tomorrow x

brook2704 Thu 30-Jun-22 20:15:25

Hoping for some good news from soop after her consultants call ?

kitty so pleased your DD is improving a bit, hope you got the requested goodies, especially the cake!

We’re continuing our walking adventures, it’s lovely but the coast path has so many ups and downs, it’s exhausting and I’m sleeping well. We’ve walked from Polperro to Seaton today - beautiful views and the weather was quite good

So good that your DH continues to improve a little bit each day grannmarie don’t tire yourself out too much though

grandmabatty hoping your DGS is back to his normal self soon and enjoying his dinosaurs and trains, it’s so awful seeing them poorly

Enjoy your time with your DD2 Sue and I think your sunny yellow nails sound just lovely

Such a shame to see your mum deteriorating Susan the same happened with my mum, it was sad to see, hope the move closer to you works out well

My two Inverness DGC have finished school today for the summer holidays, DD2 phoned to say they were so very excited and they’re all off on a caravan holiday on Saturday
