WELCOME. How pleased I am to be able to say...we have a new gathering place.

soop Wed 03-Aug-22 11:55:01

Hiraeth You have made my day. flowers

Neighbour is popping in for coffee and catch-up. I shall return later to tell you about yesterday's visit from Sweetie Pie. You will chuckle, methinks.

Just home after dropping the DGC off at their athletics class and doing a bit of shopping. Not sure yet if they’re coming back again tonight or not - will see later. We took them both swimming earlier and they had a great time especially when the waves in the pool started ? much laughter and hanging onto each other!
Hoping our grandmabatty is feeling a bit better today
Looking forward to hearing about Sweetie Pie soop

Afternoon everyone. The drizzly rain in the morning has dried up and it's a cool blowy day here. Just right for all the washing. Quiet day. Lovely coffee out with a colleague this morning.
Will try to sort out a passport tomorrow plus complete carpet and curtain choices. I am beginning to understand why some people choose to employ interior designers. if they have the money. Have no sense of style or colour...luckily the local department store encourages you to take away samples and take your time. One room still to go..
A lucky problem to have.

I'm feeling a bit better, thanks Brook. I just did a second test and it was negative so a common virus it is! My throat is sore, my glands are swollen but the other symptoms have subsided. I managed to water the tubs, tidy the kitchen and hoover and wash the kitchen floor so that's done. I have an ironing sitting from Sunday but I'll leave it til tomorrow. I'm taking things easy today. Have a good afternoon kitcheners.

Grandmabatty
I am pleased you are feeling slightly better but please don’t overdo the housework. It will still be waiting for you when you’re completely well.
Do you think you picked it up from GS1. I remember he wasn’t well recently.
We have had another very warm day, I can’t cope with heat anymore, it knocks me out.

I have just made chicken ,red onion, red pepper and halloumi kebabs for an easy tea and the central heating boiler has had its yearly service.
And now my naughty bit, I haven’t told anyone, I have ordered a new table and chairs for the conservatory.
It is part of my long term planning for when I convert the dining room into a bedroom for me , in the fullness of time.

Okay! Here is the story of Sweetie Pie's visit.

She arrived at 8 am yesterday morning. She usually eats, lolls and leaves soon thereafter. I had ironing waiting on the rack in the utility room. Lots of it. By noon, she was still resting in the utility room. She then ate more food and I thought...any time now, she'll be gone and I can retrieve the laundry ready for ironing. At 3pm she came into the kitchen. Not wanting to disturb her, I decided to do some gardening. At 5pm she had another meal (in the kitchen) and about thirty mins later, she washed, stretched and wandered through the door. All Day that cat had called the shots. I have just this minute caught up with the jobs that her ten hour visit had stopped me doing. I ask you! She's a cat. And yet...she managed to completely disrupt my day. So there, you have it. Having caught up, I now need to ride my exercise bike to nowhere. hmm

Also, of course, I shall read through all your messages tomorrow. I apologise for my tardiness.

Hugs for every one of our Kitcheners. smile moon

Not naughty, Annsixty, but very well organised, I say!

Soop, these animals run circles around us ? I think we are their pets?

A hot afternoon here. I’ve been sorting stuff out and have come across so much dust that I am now feeling that it’s time for a big clean. Just not today!

Blossoming Wed 03-Aug-22 17:20:41

Oidhche mhath dear Kitcheners! iPad spellcheck doesn’t seem to like Gaelic grin. I, on the other hand, am loving it. In fact I have just bought a novel in Gaelic for my Kindle to get some extra practice. It’s been very hot here today. I’ve done my Gaelic lessons and my 45 minutes cycling and am chilling before tea. Mr. B is making pasta, something simple and not too heavy, but those kebabs sound good Ann. We have some chicken in the freezer so maybe tomorrow’s meal.

I’m glad you’re feeling a little better Grandmabatty.

I think a group hug is called for flowers

Grandmabatty Wed 03-Aug-22 17:23:25

Annsixty I might have picked it up from dgs1,that's true. Well done on buying a new table and chairs! Soop that cat knows when she's onto a good thing!

Hello everyone. Well, the kitchen has been repainted and it looks lovely. I put the curtains into a local charity shop, so must get some new ones. I have ordered 16 free samples from a UK company who will make them in 7-9 days. Too good to be true? I have read lots of good reviews. The decorators are back tomorrow to do the hall and landing. Over the weekend OH and I will clear the lounge as best we can ready for painting and wallpapering next week. We are having a Waitrose moussaka for dinner. We are exhausted from putting everything back in the kitchen, utility room and larder. I started a box for things to go to the charity shop. I hope everyone has had a good day.

It’s called forward planning annesixty a very useful skill!
Im pleased you’re feeling somewhat better Grandmabatty chores can wait,
It’s the river Itchen brook in Shawford, a village between us and Winchester, nice pub in nearby Twyford where they went for lunch. I’ll be joining them for a similar day out soon, might have a paddle!
Lots of progress llfl we cheated, had the decorating done while we were away, returned to all the furniture back in position.
I took a couple of regular clients to the Dr today, the gentleman has early dementia, no PC filter, makes his wife and I laugh with him.
Filled up the water butt in case we have worse restrictions after the hosepipe ban and picked a few veg.
Enjoy your evening x

Nannytopsy Wed 03-Aug-22 19:54:36

It’s very sticky here in Suffolk still although it is supposed to cool down over the week. No rain forecast though. The ironing is still here I’m afraid. Maybe tomorrow?
DD is at the hospital for monitoring because the baby decided to have a snooze! He woke up when she got there!

Urmstongran Wed 03-Aug-22 19:55:38

Hello everyone from sunny Malaga! Very hot but not too bad sitting under a palm tree in the gardens and having the occasional dip in the pool. Lovely! At 3pm I looked up from my Kindle at the blue sky and took this photo. Happy Days!

Tell you what though, it’s not easy having an alcohol-free day over here when holidaymakers are sipping sangria, chilled mini cava and cerveza at the garden bar!

Dixon will be back tomorrow. ??

brook2704 Wed 03-Aug-22 19:56:06

Aww what a little madam she is soop she definitely knows who’s in charge ?‍⬛
Pleased you’re feeling a wee bit better grandmabatty take it easy still though
The DGC are back again for another sleepover, DD2 has got a few early meetings so it’s just easier if they stay here sometimes when it’s in the holidays
Pleased your kitchen is done llfl and hope you get just the right curtains to go with it

brook2704 Wed 03-Aug-22 20:03:50

Lovely picture thank you Urms pleased you arrived safely

brook2704 Wed 03-Aug-22 20:07:22

Bet he’s an entertaining client Jax!

Nannytopsy Wed 03-Aug-22 21:10:13

Thank you Brook. It’s hot, puffy feet, lots of discomfort - I hope they decide that it’s time for a CS!

Hellogirl1 Wed 03-Aug-22 22:48:11

Thanks for all the good wishes. My GP rang this afternoon, my bloods were "satisfactory".
Soop, Sweetie Pie is doing a Rory, but taking her time over it!
Urmston, that looks idyllic, I`m so jealous.

Nannytopsy Wed 03-Aug-22 23:22:32

DD is back at the hospital …?

annsixty Thu 04-Aug-22 03:52:57

I hope all is well Nannytopsy and you will soon have good news.

Hellogirl1 Thu 04-Aug-22 11:04:00

I hope all will be well Nannytopsy.

Grandmabatty Thu 04-Aug-22 11:57:36

Fingers crossed Nannytopsy

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 04-Aug-22 12:39:19

As I said to one of the decorators, it looks like raspberry mousse has been spread all over the hall walls! Twenty curtain samples arrived today so we have to choose a fabric to match the terracotta paint in the kitchen!

soop Thu 04-Aug-22 12:48:12

Nannytopsy Please keep us updated. grin

Urms Your photograph looks idyllic. Enjoy all the treats and plenty of relaxation in the sunshine.

Grandmabatty Us lot will be relieved when you report feeling very much better.

Llfl How lovely that you have a first class team of house decorators. Had we cash to spare, we would have our home interior completely refreshed and enhanced. We last did it together some time ago.

Ali23 Yep! Pets are masters of we lowly oomans. As for dust...no comment. It's a buggeration that never gives up.

Blossoming Am I impressed? Indeed I am. You have inspired me to pedal to nowhere for 45 minutes a day. Although we have a book on learning the Gaelic language, neither Mr S or I have managed to make any progress of note. There are folk in the village who speak it. We know a few very simple words. Nothing to brag about. So I won't. wink
