Have you ever done something once but never want to do it again?

Helicopter ride for me. Wonderful views up over the bush in South Australia but I was very nervous. I once went sand surfing down a stonking great sandhill in New Zealand, ended up in a river. I screamed the whole way down, got a mouth full of sand but wouldn’t do it twice.

I once went on the pepsi max ride at Blackpool. It was 28 years ago. My friends daughter wanted to go on it so I said I would go on with her. She loved it I was petrified. Never again

Same as nanna8. I always wanted to go in a helicopter, it was on my bucket list, and I got the chance in Hawaii. Never been so scared in all my life. I'm glad I did it so at least now I can cross it off, but never, ever again

Riding on a cable-car up to the crater of Mount Teide in Tenerife. Every time it went past a 'post' it would plummet downwards as if falling. I was crying when I got to the top.

Husband arranged for us to go up in a balloon as a treat for my birthday. I was petrified. You are up in a 'little' basket with nothing between you and the ground way down below. The cars, cows etc looked like little toys. I hardly dared move or breathe. The only thing I liked was the smell from the top of the trees - it was heavenly and surprisingly strong. I would NEVER do this again!

Caving. Became paralysed with fear trying to crawl through a ‘letter box’ sized entrance into another cave. Had to be pushed on one side and pulled on the other in a state of panic and hyperventilating. Humiliating and scary. Never again.

Just reading this made my heart race! Must have been awful.

Sat in nosebleed seats at the 02 omg they are so steep and in my eyes very dangerous.

Marmight. That lunch sounded something else! Was it just any old submarine?

Clevedon Tue 28-Jun-22 12:13:54

Another one for roller coaster!

Got married!

When my daughter was young we rode tandem in a little boat type seat down a water slide which was enclosed, in Cyprus. I hated it so much I felt I was going to suffocate. I couldn’t see anything and hyperventilated- I just couldn’t wait to get out. I had a panic attack and vowed I’d never ever attempt to ride one again. It was the longest minute of my life.

I've done some extreme sports, loved white water rafting and scuba diving, but although I must confess I've never tried them nothing would ever induce me to go diving under ice or potholing. I'm feeling faint at the thought of it.

The Crown Ridge on SI NZ and the Siete Lagos route near Bariloche in Argentina. They were two absolutely terrifying roads. I cried the whole journeys and NOTHING would induce me to go either again!

Having a full body massage in a hotel spa, I had one on a holiday in Egypt, I felt crippled by the end of it, couldn’t wait for it to be over, it wasn’t relaxing at all. The following day I had a severe stomach upset which kept me in bed for 24 hours!

I used to go pot holing in my youth, with just a light on a helmet, crawling through barely accessible passages, and enjoyed it, but like bohemian, I was persuaded to go down the deep pit at the National Mining Museum by DH (who had once been a miner) and was frozen with fear from the word go! When I got back to the top I could barely stand my legs were shaking so much! I had a new respect for him after that!

Ice skating when I was a teenager. Went with a dishy young police cadet but hated the skating as I've never had good balance. The end of a very brief friendship! I do go to watch my family ice skate occasionally but don't envy them

Pot holing. Hated it. Absolutely pointless in my opinion. You would also never get me on the Tower of Terror in Disney again but didn't mind Space Mountain!

dayvidg Tue 28-Jun-22 11:48:34

Wing walking. Although it's called that you're actually strapped to an A-frame on top of the plane - no walking involved. Although an interesting experience, don't think I'd bother again. (Still fancy trying fire-walking though)

Yes. I voted Lib Dem to unseat the Tory MP in Guildford some years ago and then they went into coalition with the Tories under Clegg. Never again in any circumstances. They are untrustworthy.

Driving through Death Valley for me. I was a wreck by the end of it.

Why? What was it about it Kim? I love Death Valley. I’ve spent time there twice.

I can’t think of anything for me, but I plan to Zip Line and Paraglide in Cape Town next year when I’m 64, so I may have something then ?

Scuba Diving......never again!

Another one for me is eating kangaroo meat. Once only, tasted totally vile. Many like it but not me.

On a Ramblers' holiday in Austria, the group was taken down a salt mine. I began to feel dizzy and unsteady and was taken up to the surface. I had always been wary of caves and that was the last straw. I'll never go into a cave and most certainly avoid salt mines.
