Hello!
So no time like the present…
The Myers-Briggs Personality Test; otherwise known as 16 Personality Types.
I first did it several years ago.
It’s very interesting (well, I think so!)
Here is the link…

ENFJ a protagonist. I did this test about 20 years ago and I came out exactly the same. Interesting. I think a I might be slightly more extroverted now, the percentage was higher.
Thanks for putting it on Fanny, you’re a star!

Ooh Stardreamer...Urms and I have just 5 minutes out... We've started this morning doing the longest zip wire trip and then followed it on with a quick surfing the 30ft waves before lunch... Then we did a quick iron man challenge before taking to the skies once more for a tandem sky dive. Just a normal Friday really. But amazingly... because we are amazing we find time to pop into Gransnet to see how our fabulous diverse fellow Grans are doing..lol

Just redone and got the same answer Turbulent Adventurer, got to say very accurate.

Just did the test again - I’m an Advocate. 2 or 3 days ago I was a Defender. I guess they’re similar.

MissAdventure

Not based on any test at all, just my observation of humans, I often find sensitive people are prone to getting very "down" at times.
They seem to take on the worlds troubles.
Thats not a criticism at all, just what i think (probably a load of baloney!)

No, no, no smile

You don't need to self-deprecate by including "(probably a load of baloney!)"

MissAdventure Fri 01-Jul-22 12:29:27

Be kind to your inner child.
Hug them, treat them with compassion and empathy a child deserves. smile

Compassion based therapy sounds interesting Fanny and is very similar to Metta in Buddhism. If you are very hard/critical of yourself it can mean you are likely to harshly judge others.
If you are a perfectionist it can be tricky not to judge yourself. The easiest way to be kinder to yourself is to picture yourself as the young unsophisticated child you once were and feel kindness towards them.

Mary the only one that I recognised was the High Expectations part.
Which ties into Compassion Based Therapy which my therapist recommends.
Compassion for ourselves and others. Basically, just being a bit more forgiving and a bit less harsh.

Ooh thanks Marydoll.

Some traits are very accurate, but others dfinitely not.

StarDreamer Fri 01-Jul-22 11:27:30

That is a good point. The few I have looked at all seem to say the good points about having that personality type.

So what about nasty people? Which personality do they have?

A business trying to sell stuff to people seems unlikely to tell a potential customer that he or she is a nasty piece of work! smile

MissAdventure Fri 01-Jul-22 11:16:36

I would like to find the unpleasant traits associated with these different types and see if they are uncannily accurate .

It’s quite interesting reading about personality tests, this one originated in the 1940’s based on work by Yung. There are many more available since then, I suppose, if you had the time you could try multiple tests to see if the results are similar.

Thanks for that SD. I was wondering what exactly it meant.

My preferred explanation of extrovert and introvert is that the former get energy from being with others, whereas introverts get their energy from within.
I find that being with others saps my energy; literally drains me.
After working a full week, and even part time, I couldn’t bear the thought of socialising.
Even phone calls would be too much.

Introverts may also find the concept of the Highly Sensitive Person interesting.
(I will leave you to Google it yourself! ?)
I now know that I am a HSP, and I found it really enlightening learning about it.

I went to

www.youtube.com/

and, as usual, there were various videos offered without searching.

I saw this one and watched it.

I am a Defender. Agreed with most of it!!

Just asked Mr R if I an introvert - as Defenders are, apparently, and he said "No" and then added but you aren't an extrovert either. In my book that means I am nicely somewhere in the middle. I am happy with this and it's the nicest thing he has said to me in a very long while!! smile

When I had the Myers-Briggs system explained to me, it was pointed out that Introvert and Extrovert are not the same as the popular everyday meaning.

In Myers-Briggs it is, if I remember correctly, about how the person gets their "energy".

So the Extrovert needs to do things externally, such as doing sports or sky diving, and so on. The Introvert may write poetry. That sort of thing.

MissAdventure Fri 01-Jul-22 09:49:30

Oh, I didn't realise the test had multiple letters in the results.

If you are an Advocate/INFJ, check this out.

I am stunned, this describes me to a T!!!!!! It was uncanny.

I have just watched that video. Thank you for providing the link.

I did not get INFJ this time, but I did in the test I took a little over twenty years ago.

I found that some of the things in the video match with me, but others do not.

I think I must be an unassertive protagonist.
Not leader material too lazy
