Poor George made to sit and swelter at Wimbledon on the hottest day of the year, in a jacket and tie! He should be in the garden, in the shade, playing in the paddling pool with other kids.

I think some people are overinvested in the royals.

It's quite reasonable to discuss the news.

There would be plenty only too willing to spend hours on hours discussing other members, day after day, after day.

Some people just thought it was a daft choice of clothing. That's all.

I wonder what faux pas the Cambridges have made or are about to make with young Charlotte? Bet you’re all glad they’ve only got the three…perhaps someone ought involve social services?

Well rules is rules, as they say. My grandchildren have to wear blazers to and from school- even in 40C. heat. They are allowed to wear sports uniform if they have a sporting fixture last period. You pays yer money, yer takes the choice. He is not an ‘ordinary’ boy is he ?

My DGC has been told she doesn't have to wear a blazer to school next week as it will be very hot (and it's the last week of term). Otherwise it's blazers all the time, winter and summer.

For me, just about the least interesting thing about the men's final was a nine year old in a tie. However the prevailing wisdom seems to be that there must be no comment whatsoever about anything that the favoured members of the RF do. Even concerned posters who were worried about the child are labelled as raving republicans riven by jealousy. Having concern for a child and thinking his parents could have acted differently is not a hanging offence. Those posters who think that anybody with a concern for a child is automatically a revolutionary might want to think about how they themselves think about the RF. The RF are not infallable and justified criticism is a healthy reaction, we're not in a State where any criticism of the top family is considered treason.

That, really is funny, considering the many, many, many threads there have been picking holes in absolutely everything Meghan and harry do.
It really does take the biscuit!

All this isn’t about rules at Wimbledon, it’s another republican
bash.

Precisely. Predictable and tedious. There is air con in the royal stand and if George loves tennis he enjoyed it it seems a shame it’s being picked over and criticized so roundly.

I suppose he’ll have to get used to being damned whatever he does, poor child.

I haven't seen too much advice to wear a suit in the 'weather warning' thread.

How about this Prince of a similar age at sporting events on hot days?

Who is this? Am I supposed to know?

Pantglas2 Tue 12-Jul-22 20:45:39

Gosh, an awful lot of projection going on here…more of how to bring up other peoples kids - again.

First Louis and his parents lack of control at the jubilee and now too much with them forcing George into ‘unsuitable’ clothing!

MissAdventure Tue 12-Jul-22 20:43:20

I'm just stirring the pot there, before anyone gets hot under the collar, as it were.

MissAdventure Tue 12-Jul-22 20:39:58

Yes, perhaps he did spoilt?

I was just talking about the clothes, though.

Yes, I know!

Smart casual would have been more appropriate but perhaps he insisted he wanted to look like the other males in the Royal Box.

It's Wimbledon rules.

Tina1957 Tue 12-Jul-22 20:24:02

Poor Prince George,he looked so hot, they should have dressed him in more casual clothes.

Am I allowed to say it looks much better?

Appearances are deceptive.

Happy photos don't always mean happy families.

Tilly8 Tue 12-Jul-22 19:53:51

I have a great nephew who takes every opportunity to dress up in shirt, tie and jacket. He’s always been the same (now 13] we are a working class family from Yorkshire. It doesn’t always follow that the parents have forced children to wear a certain outfit. We must try to be less judgemental!

MissAdventure Tue 12-Jul-22 19:47:05

I've just watched the video of him telling his dad he's too hot.
Even that is being lauded as "cute" by some.

Nanniejude Tue 12-Jul-22 19:33:48

What a smart, well behaved boy enjoying watching tennis with his mum and dad.
What a privilege to have coaching from Roger Federer.
He looked very happy to me.

I must remember when we have yet another Harry and Meghan thread, that it is just caused by envy. smile
All those would-be-actors who hadn't the skill to make it.

Dija Tue 12-Jul-22 19:12:41

I was amazed that the little chap was trussed up like that in a collar and tie and suit No wonder he always looks so anxious No one not even a young prince wants to look so ridiculously dressed and different from all his peers In that can lie bullying Im very surprised his parents chose such an unsuitable outfit

I can only speak for myself. I was merely commenting on the OP.
It isn't envy or a reason to gripe about the royals.

On many individual levels, perhaps not, but that is the overall impression from what I've read of this thread.
