Poor George made to sit and swelter at Wimbledon on the hottest day of the year, in a jacket and tie! He should be in the garden, in the shade, playing in the paddling pool with other kids.

Gosh, an awful lot of projection going on here…more of how to bring up other peoples kids - again.
First Louis and his parents lack of control at the jubilee and now too much with them forcing George into ‘unsuitable’ clothing!

How about this Prince of a similar age at sporting events on hot days?
Who is this? Am I supposed to know?
I haven't seen too much advice to wear a suit in the 'weather warning' thread.

All this isn’t about rules at Wimbledon, it’s another republican
bash.
Precisely. Predictable and tedious. There is air con in the royal stand and if George loves tennis he enjoyed it it seems a shame it’s being picked over and criticized so roundly.
I suppose he’ll have to get used to being damned whatever he does, poor child.
That, really is funny, considering the many, many, many threads there have been picking holes in absolutely everything Meghan and harry do.
It really does take the biscuit!
For me, just about the least interesting thing about the men's final was a nine year old in a tie. However the prevailing wisdom seems to be that there must be no comment whatsoever about anything that the favoured members of the RF do. Even concerned posters who were worried about the child are labelled as raving republicans riven by jealousy. Having concern for a child and thinking his parents could have acted differently is not a hanging offence. Those posters who think that anybody with a concern for a child is automatically a revolutionary might want to think about how they themselves think about the RF. The RF are not infallable and justified criticism is a healthy reaction, we're not in a State where any criticism of the top family is considered treason.

Well rules is rules, as they say. My grandchildren have to wear blazers to and from school- even in 40C. heat. They are allowed to wear sports uniform if they have a sporting fixture last period. You pays yer money, yer takes the choice. He is not an ‘ordinary’ boy is he ?
My DGC has been told she doesn't have to wear a blazer to school next week as it will be very hot (and it's the last week of term). Otherwise it's blazers all the time, winter and summer.

I wonder what faux pas the Cambridges have made or are about to make with young Charlotte? Bet you’re all glad they’ve only got the three…perhaps someone ought involve social services?
I think some people are overinvested in the royals.
It's quite reasonable to discuss the news.
There would be plenty only too willing to spend hours on hours discussing other members, day after day, after day.
Some people just thought it was a daft choice of clothing. That's all.
Isn’t he tennis mad though?
He was wearing the Wimbledon lawn tennis tie, so he’s obviously a member.
He had a knock around with Roger, not a coaching session... who make this s#1T up? Coaching indeed!!
I think he had a lot of fun at the men’s singles finals. Who wouldn’t want a court side seat there in the shade with his mum and dad, watching the prime match of the competition.
Whether there should be a monarchy or not is separate question. Without any change he will the the monarch one day, so may as well get him used to the work of meeting and greeting those who contribute to life as we know it.
I thought he did rather well for a very young introvert.
M and H aren’t relevant to to the RF.
H used to be the spare before W and C had an heir and two spares. He’s number 6 now, and will drop out of the rankings as time goes on, like Andrew has, and with the same bad grace imo.
Besides, M and H left... couldn’t handle the ‘work’.
So the tie was a statement about him being a member of Wimbledon? Could be his own choice, then, if he is tennis mad. The Rf do tend to use their clothes to demonstrate their support for what they are attending. The Queen has it down to an art form.
What fabric was the suit? Heavy Harris tweed? Sweaty nylon? Lightweight wool? Bamboo (said to be very cool) ? Linen? (also very cool) Lined, and if so what with? Silk? Acrylic? Cotton? Fur?
What was the shirt made of? Cotton? Aertex? Polycotton? Linen? Long or short sleeves?
We don't have the answers to any of these questions, though they would be useful to throw light on whether he was sweltering in the heat or pleasantly coolish in the shade of the Royal box.
1) It is none of our business.
2) It won't stop people drawing conclusions with minimal evidence.

It’s Prince Albert of Monaco, with his son, who has a twin sister. Can’t remember his name.

I read somewhere that her parents gave her a pony for her 7th birthday.
I always wanted a pony when I was her age…..
Prince George is a nine year old who is obviously not in full control of his life.
He should not be criticised for the clothes he is wearing, whether they were his choice or that of his parents.
I don't think many members would dream of posting unkind comments on the photographs of children a few doting grandparents post on here.

?
Maybe a swimsuit? ?
I was somewhat gobsmacked that Kate and wills were toeing that old stuffy line of formal wear' for an 8 year old little boy on the hottest day of the year!?! What WERE they thinking?! A pair of casual Chino shorts with a smart lightweight tee would have been oh so appropriate and in keeping with the more relaxed style of the up and coming royals surely?

I didn't see the post as "criticism" of George? Why see things that are clearly not there? Whoever suggested his attire needs to go back to the wardrobe!
Yes a pony! How smashing?! I knew of a lucky little girl who got a pony and all the kit when I was 8/9 ..they could afford it all , they lived in a council house, we couldn't, my parents had mortgage and maintenance of our house to fund.... Strange how ponies are seen as a plaything of the privileged? And who exactly are the privileged in our society?
Maybe he suggested it Gabrielle.
Good post yesterday at 20.45 Pantglas.

Let’s not just make it about the Royals and the dress requirements of Wimbledon. Whilst out in our local (rather large) park yesterday I watched a party of local primary school children in uniform (pleated pinafores and formal shorts, shirts and ties) looking at the buildings in the park and the flora. There was no air-con, but a few drops of rain from time to time. Most of them were decidedly ‘glowing’.
As they queued up for the toilets, I asked if they were hot. I learned that they always wear uniform on school trips, even to the park.
