There are certainly a lot of arses around.

TBH I don’t find it any more off-putting than very overweight women wearing crop tops/shoestring strap tops, not to mention skin tight leggings with waist length tops that inflict every wobble of their enormous arses on innocent passers by.

Meant to add, when we got off the train (at the coast) there was a teenage boy with no top on but he was not fat or hairy!

When I was on a train recently, there was an announcement telling everyone to wear a top as bare chests were against railway regulations.

Regardless of size and gender i don`t want to see flesh,especially in supermarkets.
The beach is the place..... i think.

It's known in Scotland, particularly in the Glasgow area as Tapps aff, it was discussed recently on a thread. Not a nice look at all, especially in supermarkets. Yuk!

Hi Marydoll I agree with the traditional Scottish phrase " Taps Aff " but not to be confused with the more recent "'Taps Off" which is a scottish water saving campaign. Not that there is ever much need at all to conserve water in Scotland so I am not certain that the campaign will be a success. I remember a few years ago one summer we had a visitor at work from a branch located in a much warmer country and he was bemused that we were all " roasting" at around 19 degrees one day. He asked how our summers usually went, and I heard him the next day on the phone telling someone at home that the Scottish seasons usually went along the lines of Winter, Winter, "taps aff " for 2 days not necessarily consecutive, Autumn.

And then there are some people who object to breastfeeding.

This thread is making me feel a bit ill thinking of all those fat, sweaty, hairy men walking around baring their flesh. ?

When I worked in M&S we had an elderly (OK late middle aged) man who used to come into the cafe in his vest. He was a large gent and very hairy. He was also convinced that he was hilariously funny and we were delighted to see him. (He wasn't and we weren't!) Ladies on either side of him in the queue would give him a lot of space.

There's a time and a place for topless men, I think.
It always looks a bit "rude" when their nipples are on show.

Agree. Wear what you like on the beach or in the park but it’s Not acceptable in town. Mind you neither is the low cut strappy vest top favoured by some large women….

I prefer people to wear clothes when out and about as a general rule. Not at all keen on the topless/skimpily clad look.
On the other hand I'd rather that than dressing gown and PJ's in the shops!

Well a nicely toned hairy chest is easy on my eyes. However a bald chest with a massive belly makes my eyes positively water.

I’m happy chatting over the fence to my older neighbour if his top is off on a hot day, but I think men should wear a top when they’re away from the home, beach or pool!

I’m becoming Mrs Whitehouse, or maybe a bit Jane Austen. I’m the first in a bikini in the back garden, or the beach but I find the British need to strip off the minute the sun comes out, increasingly unnecessary.
There are some lovely summer frocks this year, also good shorts n tops. Sweaty half naked chaps in shops etc - a poor look

Not a fan of bare bodies in places where people are eating etc. I think that's rude. And that goes for women scantily clad as well.

I have to admit though that I saw a very good looking young man with a really beautiful body, all tanned and in perfect shape, walking topless by the sea the other day. I couldn't help but look. It wasn't lascivious, it was a genuine pleasure in seeing beauty. I'm an artist so maybe I'm allowed...!

We are very fat-ist though. So the question to self is why was this ok when, if a fatter body passes me, I might judge it!

In hot climates many men wander around with no top, all the time... it's normal there. Maybe it just shocks us as we are not used to it.

Topless men on the beach/beachside bars and parks are one thing but for heavens sake I think we need a bit of decorum elsewhere!

I think there is a strong correlation between how fat a person (of both sexes) is and the amount of bare flesh they inflict on the rest of us.

Those with good, slim, toned bodies rarely bare all.

Well I saw one today. Topless, big belly hanging over his trousers. I forgave him as he stopped his large lorry, got out of his cab, held up traffic to help an elderly gentleman who was struggling to get across the road. ?

I'd say that was totally excusable as he'd been in his own personal space up to that point.
I'd hardly expect him to stop and put a shirt on before he helped the elderly gentleman. Full credit to him for his good deed ?
