JMAH , what a lovely post ; so good to know some of us have real values
Enjoy your beautiful garden ?
Vision Disturbances: "Aura" Without Headache?
Shrub suggestions for a mainly shady alkaline bed.
Just that really, I ask because it’s 10:30am and I’m still in mine, and this is quite normal for me.
Got up at 8:00am, had a leisurely breakfast, emptied the dishwasher, changed the sheets on the bed, did a bit of dead heading in the garden and now thinking about getting dressed so that I can walk the dog. Am I alone in this slovenly behaviour?

I was brought up not to appear at the breakfast table until out of nightwear and fully dressed. It was never a problem as I was a morning person and, as an adult, this habit continued.
However an accident six months ago made it impractical for me to be the usual chirpy early bird and, do you know what? I am now finding it liberating to ‘slob about’ in my PJs, especially in this hot weather.
I get dressed as soon as I get up, normally 7.45am but before 7 two days a week as I take my GD to school before 8.
My mum took years to take on the idea that she needn't struggle to get dressed by a particular time.
She had worked so hard, and was horribly, terribly disabled.
I'm glad she had a little more comfort, at least, in her last few years.
Don’t own any,so don’t wear any. Up dressed by 8.30-9 everyday.
If I do stay in my nightshirt, I feel a bit grotty. I’m more productive when I’m showered and dressed.

I sometimes go to bed in my clothes, just in case someone knocks in the night and realises I wear pyjamas.
So funny- made my day

I agree with Zonne. What a lot of smug, self satisfied, early risers on this thread. In old age, I seem to have reverted to youth - staying awake half the night and sleeping very late. As there is no one to bother me, that's fine. I stay upstairs in bed doing emails or reading, until feeling hungry, or the cat is making it plain that she is.
I agree about the smugness! Up and dressed at 4.30/6.30, whatever! Jeez, what do they want, a badge or a balloon?

Until last week I didn’t have any PJ’s, because I didn’t see the point of wearing something similar to underpants at night and then having to wash them every day the same as you do with underwear. Instead I’m happy with nighties. However I had to go into hospital for a mastectomy a couple of days ago and was advised to wear PJ’s, and I’ve really been very pleasantly surprised at how cool and comfortable they are. Today is my first day completely alone, and I’m going to spend it wearing only PJ’s.
This is probably me finally getting trendy!
Wishing you a full recovery ?
Oooh I love staying in my pjs and doing all my chores. Unless I know someone’s calling in which case I’m up showered and dressed.
As someone else has posted pjs straight in the wash after slobbing around.
You did dead heading in the garden in your PJs !I can’t believe it!
I'm loving your outrage CathSoc! Yesterday, I dead headed the roses, watered the greenhouse and cropped the fruit off blackcurrant bushes before going back in to make jam! I do hope that some of my neighbours were as shocked as you!
Aw but can CathSoc accept that as 'work'???
Aw but can CathSoc accept that as 'work'???
Dunno faye but topping and tailing 2lbs of blackcurrants, and then standing stirring a pan of boiling jam, in 30 degrees heat, it certainly felt like work!
I’m up and walking the dogs by eight in this hot weather. Too late at 10.30 for dogs in a heat wave . You perhaps should go out in a fur coat and bare feet. That’s how your dog feels !
I don't have a dog.
I don’t have a dog.
I have never worn pyjamas in my life. For the past couple of years I have breakfasted before getting washing and dressed because my help comes at nine to help me shower.
In my whole life I have never remained in bed unless because of illness. In the winter I do sometimes change into my nightie after my evening meal.
If I've been wearing shorts in the garden I usually have a quick shower and put a dress on. Nothing formal, just not the kit I've been kicking about in all day.
No dog here either ?
or cat ?
Sorry, that was suppose to be in answer to the question about me dressing in the evening. The quote didn't work.
I get up anywhere between 7-8, get a coffee and jump in the shower. So that’s the end of nightclothes.
Couldn’t slob around in them or go outside in them / like to feel clean and fresh to face the day
I have a relative who is up, showered, dressed before 7 am every day; she is 82 years of age.
She spends her days shopping for more clothes ( most of which never see the light of day)
She boasts about the amount of outfits in her wardrobe which she bought but never, wore.
At the same time she is immaculately turned out at all times; hair coiffed, pretty shoes etc.
She has someone to do her housework, maintenance etc
She likes sipping coffee and looking well-turned out.
She has been this way all her adult life.
.
I on the other hand can regularly be found in my nightdress/smock/robe at any time of day.
If anyone comments ( which of course they feel its their duty to do) I happily inform them that I'm wearing an artist's smock NOT my nightdress.
Apart from the many days each week that I'm minding my young grandchildren or out and about I wear whatever I feel comfortable in.
Like many of you I spent most of my life having to be up at 7 am if not earlier, showered, dressed and out the door for a busy work-filled day so naturally it's a relief not to have that pressure everyday any longer.
I'm a crafter, gardener, carer, good neighbour - overall a most productive human being AND I keep & maintain a beautiful clean, tidy home - because that's what I like.
My relative admires and tells everybody about my creativity, work ethic and family values.
I admire & tell everybody about her chicness
I'm sure many gransnetters on here would describe me as slovenly and my relative as someone with high standards based on our choice of attire.
Thanks to my intelligence and education I know better.
I suppose self-worth is something nurtured in a person from a young age and not everyone is fortunate enough to have had that nourishment.
For those of us who are let's continue to celebrate our uniqueness and just spare a well- wishing thought for those who are not
I love my PJs and often don't get dressed until almost midday, then back into them as soon as dinner out the way, watered the garden and cleared up the kitchen. I'm often out in the garden with my dogs, still in PJs - one day a passing neighbour stopped and asked where I get my lovely trousers from!
I have a Ukrainian guest staying, their culture is - home from work, straight into shower, then PJs on, no matter how early! I'm all for it! Also - no outdoor shoes on in the house, straight into slippers!

Oh my goodness this really made me laugh out loud!
Thank you so much MissA - you really are funny

There lots of funny people on here, I think.
People who are busy being outraged for no particular reason miss out on lots of laughs.

My goodness there are some smug disapproving responses to this thread!
Now I'm retired I see no point rushing around early, I like to have a relaxing time of things now; after many decades of nursing I feel I deserve it!
DillonsGranma I don't necessarily even take my dogs out at all in very hot weather, as they really don't enjoy it and they are quite happy to "slob around" with me still in my PJs.
Will probably take them out in the evening when it's cooler.
