Couldn’t resist grin What do you all make of Prince Harry’s latest venture into the world of public speaking?

Elegran Thu 21-Jul-22 13:02:38

Re David Attenburgh and flying - at least he makes some serious speeches when he gets there, and since he talks sense and has a reputation for knowing what he is talking about he does have a positive effect. Plus, he is not doing it to increase his and his wife's PR and their bank balance while dissing both sets of family.

Thanks for the link Chestnut, really interesting.
I’m impressed with Tom Bower, he seems authentic, sensible and not in it for scandal mongering, just the truth.

Chestnut Thu 21-Jul-22 11:52:08

The interview with Tom Bower (posted earlier) is a real eye opener. He has unearthed things about Meghan that we don't know but will verify what we do know. Will be interesting to see how she responds.

There have been lots of comments about Harry looking so miserable at this meeting, but I saw a clip from a video just as he entered the room and a journalist shouted a remark about whether he was worried about the publication of the revenge book. Obviously he was p****d off and Meghan accordingly grasped (sorry held) his hand to comfort him?
John and Yoko live on.

I have a sense of proportion in that I judge H & M's parenting to be sound (no photos) and I believe they support some good causes (vaccines for poor countries). B
But I also have a sense of propriety and an understanding of how good manners work, especially with reference to one's family (the Queen and the DofE), (his father). No anger, no rage, no madness. If anything just disappointment and frustration.

The D of E wasn't his father (unless you have knowledge of another royal scandal???) shock
His father is a rather inadequate man who was trained from an early age not to show emotion. I've no doubt he has done his best but that doesn't mean anyone should have to try and play happy families with a lot of people who are plainly damaged for the rest of their life

I agree with this.

Brittany for me too Joseanne. I forget the name of the town it’s near because my son booked the house and invited us to join them, which means again that we will be making memories with our grandson. I believe that grandparents are very important in the lives of young children.

Brittany for me. And you?

I'm going to France by ferry next month! Harry would approve.

maddyone Wed 20-Jul-22 18:35:56

volver is Piers Morgan on Gransnet do you think? grin

maddyone Wed 20-Jul-22 18:33:38

Thanks Lucca, we can’t wait smile

maddyone Wed 20-Jul-22 18:32:42

No volver Harry doesn’t care whether I fly to New Zealand or I don’t, but he does apparently care enough about people taking flights that he has exhorted us all to take fewer flights. Fine, except he doesn’t!
I wonder which people he means who have to take fewer flights then?

volver Wed 20-Jul-22 18:30:51

Chestnut

There is a new book by Tom Bower called Revenge which looks interesting. Some very revealing information there!

Here he talks to Piers Morgan, first about Harry and then about the book.
Just wow!
Tom Bower and Piers Morgan

Anything incandescent there?

I'm going to guess "yes".

Incidentally I have got flights booked for later this year. We’re flying to New Zealand, not by private jet, but by Emirates, economy on the way out, premium economy on the way back. Family relationships are very important to us and maintaining contact with our young grandchildren is premium to us. Two months in New Zealand for us, making memories with our family. I have no idea whether Harry would regard this trip as expendable but we certainly don’t.

Harry doesn't care if you go to New Zealand. Hence the comment about sense of proportion.

David Attenborough probably flies a lot. Shall we all throw metaphorical tomatoes at him?

Lucca Wed 20-Jul-22 18:22:10

Go for it Maddy

Total digression but I do find this expression rude

Oh dear.

I don’t see any raging, incandescent angry remarks on here volver, so on this we must agree to disagree. I simply find it strange that any celebrities should be so disingenuous that they use many private jets in any one year, whilst at the same time exhorting the rest of us to take fewer flights. If this celebrity happened to be a much disliked politician for example, posters probably would be raging and incandescent, judging by other threads I’ve seen, but no incandescent anger on this thread that I’ve noticed.

volver Wed 20-Jul-22 18:00:03

It's like a madness, this. Please don't be offended, but they very names "Harry and Meghan" cause all sorts of people to just morph into raging, incandescent angry people with no sense of proportion.

Minor celebrities including Meghan and Harry seem to believe that the public ie the common herd, will take more notice of warnings when presented by them without any attempt to practise what they preach, let alone believe in it.

Do as I say not as I do.
