Couldn’t resist grin What do you all make of Prince Harry’s latest venture into the world of public speaking?

Joseanne Tue 19-Jul-22 11:27:00

maddyone you're very naughty!
But seeing as I had nothing better to do at coffee time in this heat, I took a look.
His speech about Mandela began ok, with of course the usual reference to his mum, but after that it got very disjointed, the lecturing started and I'm sure he didn't have the foggiest what he was droning on about. Can anyone enlighten me as to why he was invited to speak on such an occasion, and why he has gone from criticising his own country to doing the same to USA?
The funniest thing was that the auditorium was almost empty!! Nul points.

I never listen to anything the RF have to say - it's usually a hypocritical lecture on the environment. The Cambridges left Kensington Palace the other day by helicopter!

Yes, Harry banged on about climate change - after having flown 6,000 miles to New York and back to deliver his words of wisdom.

It’s never a good idea to criticise your adopted country after rubbishing the one you left is it? Suggests they can’t be happy anywhere to me. Except maybe Africa which he says he loves but I suspect not that much…

Two words sprang to mind 'oh dear'.

timetogo2016 Tue 19-Jul-22 14:01:52

I shall use his speech as a cure for insomnia.

eazybee Tue 19-Jul-22 15:04:59

Because criticising everyone and everything is now his modus operandi.

Calendargirl Tue 19-Jul-22 15:10:19

Digressing, as we do, but saw pictures of Meghan with Gloria Steinem, holding her hand, not sure where they were going or what it was about. Meghan was smiling at the camera though!

Someone unkindly asked if she ever managed to do anything on her own, without holding hands with another person.

GagaJo Tue 19-Jul-22 15:24:35

I was about to pass comment that Meghan hadn't been criticised for anything yet, and lo and behold, here we are! A Meghan complaint!

eazybee Tue 19-Jul-22 15:51:57

Oh well, if you want one!
An unauthorised biography has been published and one thing has emerged amongst all the tittle-tattle which I do believe to be true:
Meghan has no sense of humour.

Anniebach Tue 19-Jul-22 15:53:37

Why should Megan not be criticised ?

Calendargirl Tue 19-Jul-22 15:57:19

Didn’t want to disappoint Gagajo.

For somebody who has had a top notch education he isn't particularly good at public speaking, you do wonder what Eton taught him? It wasn't public speaking. I do feel he is burning his bridges from both ends.

GagaJo Tue 19-Jul-22 16:05:49

Anniebach

Why should Megan not be criticised ?

Didn't say she shouldn't. Said I was surprised hadn't been already.

Smileless2012 Tue 19-Jul-22 16:05:49

I think you could be right 62Granny.

Mine Tue 19-Jul-22 16:37:26

Harry bashing again..

Smileless2012 Tue 19-Jul-22 16:40:33

When you make public speeches the content of those speeches is going to be commented on isn't.

Smileless2012 Tue 19-Jul-22 16:40:44

isn't it.

MerylStreep Tue 19-Jul-22 16:44:42

What did Eton teach him: entitlement.

Yes, of course it is.

If you don't want to get 'shot at' then don't stick your head above the parapet!

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 19-Jul-22 16:54:21

I read that he was invited to give the speech. I doubt he wrote it himself. He has a voice so why shouldn’t he use it? IMHO the right wing press ruined it for H and M. They could have been brilliant but journalists such as P Morgan obviously couldn’t cope with a black, divorced and outspoken American. Harry is far enough down the succession now for it not to matter if he speaks his mind more than his brother can. Although Charles has never held back! Does anyone think that rags such as the daily Mail go into anti H&M overdrive when this Tory government is behaving even more badly? Like now. Is it called dead-catting?

lemsip Tue 19-Jul-22 16:55:22

is that you complaining? puzzled

lemsip Tue 19-Jul-22 16:57:26

he's wife wrote it!

Joseanne Tue 19-Jul-22 16:57:45

Yes, I think the point is Harry wants everyone to take notice of him and to admire him, but he is going the wrong way about it by contradicting what he says in his speeches (eg. private jets when lecturing on the environment or saying he knows little about US politics then proceeding to criticise their Constitution). Hence the so called bashing he gets. He is very mixed up.
I'm surprised his Eton friends have dissed him and his wife in print. I thought those types stuck together whatever.
