Looks like the heatwaves finished.
It's gone cloudy with spots of rai .

In a strange way I think I'll miss it.

PoppyFlower Tue 19-Jul-22 22:46:10

It's still 29 degrees here in North Derbyshire! It got up to 40 degrees at one point. Yes, the earlier wind was like the Sahara.. Now still as a millpond. I like hot weather but this has been too much. Roll on tomorrow! ???

Chestnut Tue 19-Jul-22 23:59:51

I'm in the middle of the country and last night the indoor thermometer was 30 degrees at midnight. Tonight it's 33 degrees at midnight. This house gets hotter in the evening.

Rosie51 Wed 20-Jul-22 00:03:17

Oh goodness Chestnut I'm whinging about 29C, SE here.

FannyCornforth Wed 20-Jul-22 02:09:08

Chestnut my sympathies, it’s exactly the same here.
I’ve decamped to the sofa as my bedroom is absolutely uninhabitable.
I’ve got the back door open, and two fans and an air cooler facing me.
Roll on the properly
nice weather

MrsKen33 Wed 20-Jul-22 06:25:06

Much cooler and overcast here this morning. I’ve even got the duvet over me .

Sara1954 Wed 20-Jul-22 06:27:32

Woke during the night to a wonderful cool breeze, it was wonderful

Shoshana Wed 20-Jul-22 06:36:15

It's cooled down in London, thank goodness! I've really struggled over the past couple of days.

nanna8 Wed 20-Jul-22 06:37:20

Oh we're having a heatwave here- not. 10 outside and it is the middle of the afternoon. This morning it was 0.5. Still, the sun's out and the frost has gone so that's something.

Charleygirl5 Wed 20-Jul-22 07:12:58

It is dull but 20C with humidity here in London. I have had enough but I am aware I will be moaning about the cold roughly 3 months from now.

PoppyFlower Wed 20-Jul-22 07:19:57

It's 21 degrees here now with a lovely cool breeze. I've opened all my doors so the breeze can circulate. Bliss!

Grandma70s Wed 20-Jul-22 07:20:29

I think the air coming through my window is cooler. It better had be. Still 28 in my bedroom overnight, though. North west near Liverpool.

Greyduster Wed 20-Jul-22 08:19:39

Oddly, here in South Yorkshire we have a breeze stirring the back garden but it’s not reaching the windows at the front. Still hot and sticky here?.

Fennel Wed 20-Jul-22 16:34:37

I've been putting off making bread for weeks but thought I'd do it today because it will be quick. Usually takes ages to rise but today less than an hour.
I'll stay away from the oven though.
Still very warm in S. Tyneside.
Thanks for the point about pollen- I've haven't had it since living near a field of rape in France and Dr gave me an asthma breather thing.

I couldn`t wait to get out to potter in the garden this morning, it was nicely overcast and I felt comfy in my jeans and a long sleeved cotton top. The house is still cooling, these insulated new builds are good in winter but do hold onto the heat. I spent the whole morning out from 8 to 1.30, did a lot of weighty work after being blobby for too long, I was glad of the exercise

right now it is 19 out and 25 in my lounge. Time to open the windows wide upstairs, it will be warmer up there

AreWeThereYet Wed 20-Jul-22 20:18:10

We had a slightly cooler breeze earlier (Surrey) but that's disappeared and it's muggy and hot again. Not a peep of the forecasted rain and thunderstorms. My friends house is still full of smoke from the fires on the heath yesterday - she had to shut her windows and swelter in the heat but the smoke still gets in.

Nannagarra Wed 20-Jul-22 21:09:09

Like Grandma70s I’m in the north west, the nearest city being Liverpool. Last night the temperature upstairs was 28C; tonight it’s six degrees cooler, curtains and windows are open and there’s a wonderful crisp, cool breeze blowing through the house. This is more like it!

Baggytrazzas Thu 21-Jul-22 00:21:01

I'm in Scotland, no rain for several days and its still roasting! shock

MissAdventure Thu 21-Jul-22 00:23:17

It's still stifling here.
I think my flat has warmed up so much it will take days to cool back down.

Baggytrazzas Thu 21-Jul-22 00:26:22

I am melting, honestly. I don't think there has been a completely dry area on my body for days. Fed up with clothes sticking to me and my new sandals make funny squelching noises every step I take.

Baggytrazzas Thu 21-Jul-22 00:27:58

cant wait for normal Scottish summer when I can get back into my wellies, raincoat, with a thin woollen jumper underneath!

Baggytrazzas Thu 21-Jul-22 00:28:58

I'm away up to my roasting bedroom now to try to get some sleep lying on top of the duvet.

Sara1954 Thu 21-Jul-22 07:55:44

Last night I went out to water the garden at about 9.00, and joy, it was actually chilly.
Woke up during the night absolutely boiling again, and quite humid this morning.

Baggytrazzas Thu 21-Jul-22 08:47:50

Good morning. I don't know the temperature here right now
but it's def cooler, not yet chilly or wet though! I
still slept on top of the bedcovers and with all of the upstairs windows and doors open, and have wakened dry rather than damp which is a pleasant start to the day. It's very dull and overcast though rather than fresh and airy.
