People have been so very kind to me.

I must say that I love your name. When my children were small, there were lots of grandparents and great grandparents, we had a ‘Granny-with-the-old-cars’. I suspect that she would have loved to have been a Sparkly Grandma!

A friend who offers to get shopping for me says by email. Eg ‘I am going shopping after work tomorrow, is there anything I can get for you?’.

If someone offered to shop for me, the first thing I would ask them would be when they intended to do it and when they could deliver it, so that I could make my list with that in mind.

I often ask my mother-in-law if she wants shopping but regularly deliver the next day!
Unless of course it was fresh meat of fish when I'd take it the same day. Also,
If she said she had run out of something "basic" such as milk I'd take it over of course.

This seems an odd (incomprehensible) thing to do in a heatwave. What am I missing?

Oh, heck! The chiller cabinets and freezers are the best bit of the building.

Indeed I should. I was also wrong to assume that they were practically in the shop! But thank you.
It’s just that when I offer to pick things up for people, I generally do it fairly promptly. It’s also what other people have done for me on previous occasions.

Secondwind well it might have helped if you had emphasised that you wanted the food today…but it’s been a funny old day.
I ventured out into the blazing ? heat (fully hatted and sprayed) of course- to a large Tesco close by and though the shop was lovely and cool they had turned off all the freezers and fridges due to the heatwave and blocked those aisles.
A jaunty sounding (pre- recorded) man’s voice kept announcing this every 15 mins or so and thanking everyone for being so understanding.
Don’t know if a similar situation has any bearing on your shopper but it’s a good job it’s pasta for tea?

Maybe the timing of this shopping would have been helpful? Maybe you should have made it known that some of your items were for consumption today?
