Good Morning Wednesday 20th July 2022
(51 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Its looking grey ,but dry with breeze this morning in brackley .
A visit from the chiropodist, early before I settle down and watch the Tour de France in first of two stages in the Pyrenes.
I only hope that today cools down overall to make life more enjoyable .
Take Care,
Mick
Happy Anniversary to you and your DH Luluaugust
Good Morning Everyone, another fine day here. It’s already 30° and due to get higher.
I’m later this morning as I’ve been busy saying goodbye to DD ? and talking with DN who’s been sitting here chatting for half an hour or so.
DH phoned yesterday to say that he was settled in the ward and would phone me later. I didn’t hear last night but presumed that everything was alright because I would certainly have heard if not. I really hoped that they’d keep him in for an extra day because he will do what he’s told there!
However he phoned at 10.15 or so to say that apart from a final check with the nurse, he would be coming home and could I phone P, his nenhew, to come and get him. Fortunately P was still telling me about his new dog so I handed the phone over.
P was quite willing to go and collect him but had no idea where the hospital was, didn’t even know that it had been changed from Faro to Albufeira. Apparently they’d made a vague arrangement without giving each other any information. Men!
I think they’ve just got back, so might catch up again later.
luluaugust happy anniversary to you both. Gwenisgreat my apologies for missing you out! I hope you are taking things easy. I haven't heard anything from Susan56 for a while. I hope she's ok.
Morning Mick, Annie and all.
So glad to hear that your DH's funeral went well GrandMattie
You have done wonders over the last weeks looking after him . Now is time to sit back and take a bit of time for yourself. ?
Marydoll what a blow about not being able to take part in the trial. You are so upbeat about blips in the road of life. Take care dear girl and keep us informed of your "doings". Your DH sounds as though he is made from the same mould as my DH. He and pressure washers are not a good pairing!
To all who are recovering from procedures of one sort or another, best wishes for speedy recoveries.
My lovely cleaner is here and then will go for a run. I envy her strength of will. Luckily it is much cooler here today.
Have a good day one and all.
Good morning all from a thankfully cooler W Kent. Today is our 55th wedding anniversary and we are venturing out for a light lunch. We have a 15 minute cine film of the event made by a family friend and it is touching now to watch us all so long ago.
Marydoll I am so sorry the trial didn't work out for you.
gM glad the funeral went off as well as these events can.
Very best wishes to all.
Good morning everyone, it’s lovely and cool in Co Armagh , who thought we would ever say that !
I must stir myself and put on the bread maker , sis is due this afternoon and she enjoys the bread
So glad yesterday was helpful grandMarie lovely that friends were there as well as family
That’s a pity Marydoll , you were so hopeful , but keep hoping that something else will turn up ,keeping up the ??
Sorry to read Marydoll’s latest news which is so disappointing; glad that Gwen is on the road to recovery; happy that gMattie’s day yesterday went to plan. Somehow the funeral feels like the last thing you can do for the person you love and it helps enormously to feel like you got it right.
Definitely less hot today, thank goodness. Singing this afternoon, the last before the summer break, but not much else planned. The flowers in the house look distinctly sad so will deal with them at least.
Morning all.Our problem is still with us,mainly my husband coughing blood. despite all day Sunday in A and E usual tests ,blood X ray, saline drip sent home no conclusion, now no further except washing sheets and stuff. Easy to dry in this weather and first time in 62 years folding and putting away without ironing. Today phoned GP who will check with hospital re Sunday, then hospital phoned here will refer him somewhere….a waiting game.Neither of us feeling fit, the heat probably not helping.
Good morning Mick and all. It’s cloudy with a slight breeze in my corner of Lancashire, currently 17°C.
Yesterday I did very little except listening to my book and drinking lots of water. I probably won’t do much more today. Mr. B has gone shopping so will help put it away when he gets back.
I’m glad yesterday went well GrandMattie
Sorry the news wasn’t more positive Marydoll. Your post was as usual full of humour and devoid of self pity. I hope Mr. Doll doesn’t blast the driveway into oblivion!
Happy Birthday to Mr. Jaxjacky
Hope everyone has a better day now it’s feeling a little cooler.
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Good morning all from a much more bearable, fresh day in Glasgow with a welcoming cool breeze. Hopefully some respite from this heat will follow for all.
Both GDs are off on another holiday with younger family members and their children. DD1 will stay at ours for a few days to share some valued time with her sister. It’s almost like having giggling teenagers at home again although this time round, they are spoiling us. How the tables have turned and it’s just what the doctor ordered to aid DH’s recovery.
I am so pleased to hear you DH had such a lovely send off GM and you were surrounded with support from friends and family to get you through such an arduous day. You went above and beyond for your darling man and I wish you much love and more strength as you carry on in your usual stoical manner. x
Sorry you have received such disappointing news Marydoll
Wishing a good day for all and gentle hugs for those who need them.
I'm so glad all went well yesterday grandmattie - a lovely celebration of a life well lived and loved.
Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle. The temperature has actually dropped 4 degrees since I got up and is currently 17C with a pleasant cooling breeze. I have all the windows open upstairs to get rid of the stuffiness.
The sun was ferocious outside yesterday. We hit 36C here. Unbelievable! All windows were closed so the house was some 10C cooler but some of my neighbours had doors and windows wide open! I have had enough of taking things gently so am hoping to do a bit of catch up with housework and gardening. I did manage to pick the last of my heavy pea crop yesterday. The poor plants have gone over rather quickly so now to pull them up and re-organise my strawberries which are shooting vigorous runners all over.
If it all gets too much I shall sit and watch the Tour which is now in my favourite area, the lovely Pyrenees.
I am glad the day went well, grandMattie. I hoped you all weren't suffering too much with the heat. It is the first day of a new life but you are one who will get on with it in spite of the sadness.
Marydoll that was disappointing news, sorry to hear it.
And the best possible day to all.
SO glad yesterday went well GM, be kind to yourself now.
Sorry to hear Marydoll’s news.
Glad your procedure is over with Gwen. Our Harrogate DD is on holiday in Halkidiki; postponed twice. She and her DH and our young GC really need a good rest-medics, have had a very tough two years.
DH has started (yet another UTI) having gone the longest without (10 days) antibiotics. I’ve ensured we have antibiotics in so he’s started them immediately but he’s not feeling well. Surgery will be the answer to reduce his (benign thank God) prostate but goodness knows when that will be done. So off to GPs to take in his (cloudy) sample this morning ? ?
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 18° and forecast to hit 24° which is infinitely better than the 32° of yesterday. My heart goes out to those who are sitting at 36° and above. Grandmattie you show such strength. Marydoll as do you. I'm sorry that you have had to pull out from the trial.
Yesterday was a trial of a different sort. Dd and the boys came round for the afternoon but it was much too hot to play outside so playing with trains in the living room was the order of the day. We were all like wet rags.
Today it feels fresher out which is a blessing. No sign of rain though. I'll visit mum later then home for some gardening. Have a good day all.
Good morning all from a cooler S Hants, the chiller unit was wonderful yesterday afternoon. We’re now on a drought warning so will be careful, I’ll use the watering can, not the hose for the garden, rain due later which will help.
It’s MrJ’s 60th today, after the weekend’s celebrations he’s off to Belfast Friday for mark2 with his family, today will be quiet.
Your DH had a fitting end to his life journey grandMattie I wish you peace as you venture ahead.
Have your best day all ??
Good morning all from sunny South Lanarkshire.
I’m waiting for the surgery to open to try to get an appointment with a GP. I haven’t had to see one for a couple of years so I’ve no idea how difficult it will be.
DH and I did a little supermarket shopping yesterday then I spent the afternoon reading in the garden which was lovely.
I’m so pleased the temperature has dropped further south, the fires were just awful, pity those poor people who have lost their homes.
I’m glad yesterday went well gMattie.
Have the best day possible everyone. ??
It is 2.15 am here in USA. It has been great seeing our son who is out here studying. We fly home today, arriving at home itself tomorrow afternoon. Looking forward to getting home and seeing our guests from Ukraine. Still very hot here. Glad things went well GM and sorry your medical news isn't better Marydoll.
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Pleasant 21 today.
Sorry the funeral had to be in the great heat GM but glad you survived it!
You come across as dignified and brave.
Wishing you continued strength in the future.
The blinds were not fitted yesterday as the fitter's van broke down. The paint didn't arrive either and today is my German helper's final day. He's catching a train - Matt's last? I will miss him.
Yarn group today and maybe a nap.
This heat has been so exhausting.
Have a good day, a bit cooler, everyone.
Good morning Mick and all from a cooler northwest coast. Pleased about that as I’m off on a day trip to Barnard Castle (of Cummins/Cummings?fame) but didn’t sleep well, will snooze on the coach.
Nice day yesterday singing at music club then bumped into ex neighbour and had a drink al fresco with him as he eyed up the local talent rather obviously ?.
GM ???
Sorry to read you have been taken off trial Marydoll it must be very disappointing . I am going out for day with dd a rare thing now so looking forward to it. It's cooler here and windy much pleasenter. Oh on a train trip left this morning at 5.30 not due home until after 12 tonight .Have a good day whatever you are doing.
Good morning everyone from a much cooler Northampton; at last it is cooler out than in, and I have opened the upstairs windows to get a through breeze. Yesterday was spent on the sofa in front of the fan reading, but I did pop over to my neighbours to remind them not to park on my drive today as I have a man coming to powerwash, resand and seal it. It felt like an oven outside.
Gingster, I well remember the heat in Darwin; we lived there for over two years!
Nothing planned for today except stay in to keep the workman supplied with drinks.
So glad things went well yesterday, grandMattie. May your faith be a strength and guide for future days ahead.
Wishing all a cooler.day.
Good morning all from bright Harrogate
The hospital proved to be the coolest place to be yesterday. Everything went well though I was in considerable discomfort yesterday evening, all seems to have settled down now.
Yesterday seems to have gone as well as it could GrandMattie. Hope your new life starting today runs smoothly
So sorry for your disappointment with cardiologist Marydoll I’m sure your humour will find a way through
Have the best day possible folks
Good morning from a slightly cooler Black Country. It was so hot yesterday, I spent all day in a bikini, lounging around reading.
After being in the house for 2 days, I may venture out to the gym this morning as at least it is air conditioned.
Thoughts with grandMattie it seems you did your DH proud. Hoping you have support of family and friends in the coming weeks.
