Good Morning Everyone,
Its looking grey ,but dry with breeze this morning in brackley .
A visit from the chiropodist, early before I settle down and watch the Tour de France in first of two stages in the Pyrenes.
I only hope that today cools down overall to make life more enjoyable .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning Mick, it’s a cooler start here too in Wiltshire thank goodness. I’ve found the last 2 days unbearable, heaven knows how people survive in hot countries. It’s confirmed my thoughts that I don’t want holidays in the sun anymore!
DDog walk shortly then the tidying now the new flooring is done- it’s lovely!
I hope everyone has a lovely day x

grandMattie Wed 20-Jul-22 06:10:22

Good morning from an overcast E Kent.
Wasn’t it hot yesterday. My face was puce all day (not a good look!) and I felt I was going to die, I was so hot.
Unfortunately, it was also the day chosen by the undertaker to hold DH’s funeral. Even the old, old church wasn’t that cool. The family was very surprised, touched and gratified by the turnout. The funeral, although for a sad event, was not mournful and we had many surprised people saying what a lovely event it had been.
DD and family went home in the late afternoon as the girls had school and all the fun end of year stuff going on.
Two of DH’s school friends came, one from Scotland and the other from Dorset, and we all met up for dinner. It was lovely for DS to meet them and find out what a scamp DH had been for all his prissiness as a dad! ?
This is the first day of the rest of my life, I must start to sort paperwork, get rid of stuff and clear my life.
Carpe horam, dear friends. ????❤️

MawtheMerrier Wed 20-Jul-22 06:12:54

Good morning Mick and all to come. Echoing your thoughts about cooling down. I felt quite sick yesterday and had to go back to bed for a couple of hours and frankly have had enough of feeling like a blob !
I hope yesterday “went well” for GrandMattie and your family . It’s not easy but you will have done your DH proud.
With gentle thoughts to you and to us all for a better day.

Ashcombe Wed 20-Jul-22 06:47:38

Good morning, all from an overcast Torbay. There is little breeze today so opening all the windows for some coolth has made little difference.

You were never far from my thoughts yesterday, grandMattie. It sounds as if your DH’s life was celebrated well which gives you all some helpful memories of the day. There will be sad moments at times, sometimes unexpectedly sparked by something, but your faith will give you strength along with the support of your family and friends. One day at a time, dear lady.

I’m due to have my hair cut and coloured this morning, then a Wednesday Club end of term “party” and a rehearsal tonight! DH had treatment for a broken tooth yesterday so I excused him from practising his lines for the part of Le Clerc on Zoom. This is his first ever proper part on stage, apart from being a teletubby with me for The Vicar of Dibley three years ago!

Happy hump day. ?????

Morning Mick, morning All. A cloudy sky over our corner of Somerset.

Six spots of rain yesterday, a major disappointment as we’d been promised a heavy shower or two. No rain predicted in the next week. Poor garden. Enjoyed our early trip to the sea front, windy rather than breezy, very pleasant. The temperature is down today, it feels very comfortable. Grocery delivery then some light dust removal, a hot meal later. . May venture out this afternoon or may not.

You were in my thoughts yesterday grandmattie as you will be today. A very personal goodbye to your much loved husband, be gentle with yourself now.

For one moment I thought you’d been in that suit yesterday ash and wondered how you could!

Special thoughts to those with challenges to manage. Hope Wednesday is kind to us all

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s bright and sunny, we had heavy rain yesterday afternoon which freshened everything up and watered the garden
Yesterday sounded like a lovely celebration of your DH life gMattie take it easy today and look after yourself
This morning we’re looking after the DGC and taking them to their swimming lessons, when we’ve dropped them home later this afternoon I’m meeting my friend for coffee, a catch up and a rest!
Love the Teletubbies picture Ash I bet that was a good show!
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Good morning from an overcast Essex by the sea. I'm so glad it's cooler today yesterday was unbearable.
DD2 and my oldest and youngest granddaughters are coming for a visit today. We will get the train into Southend and do all the things that the girls enjoy, amusements, rides, ice cream. Lunch out then back here before they go home later.
I'm glad all went well for you yesterday GM, much love.
Enjoy a cooler day today everyone xx

Grandmadinosaur Wed 20-Jul-22 07:19:15

Good morning all from sunny East Yorkshire. It is 19 degrees.

Yesterday was horrendous wasn’t it? I did nothing but stay close to the fan, drink water and read. I excused myself from going to coffee morning.
Today I will catch up with things after the last couple of days idleness. We also have GS here after school. We changed his day from yesterday as even the thought of the short walk to collect him was too much for me. We might have a walk to the foreshore with him or to the square and get some of the nice fruit cooler drinks they do in Costa. Talking of Costa while we were in Eindhoven I had a cappuccino one day. I’m always wary in case the actual coffee is too strong. This was just spot on and came with a chocolate and a little pot with cream. Costa eat your heart out!

So pleased it went well yesterday. Such a relief for you. Take it easy today. It sounds like he had a wonderful send off.

Take care everyone.

Try again

Sorry the sun has adled my brain. The message as the end was for grabdmattie

Pittcity Wed 20-Jul-22 07:24:54

Good morning from a grey skied Colchester. A stormy, breezy night has cleared the heat but brought humidity. I too have done very little in the last 2 days and feel washed out this morning.
Will make an effort to go to the coffee meetup this morning and home via Sainsbury's.
Love to all ? x

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 20-Jul-22 07:30:48

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.
???for GM. It sounds like all went as well as could be expected yesterday.
I am hoping to do a Waitrose shop this morning. I haven’t been outside for two days! OH and I are going out for a U3A lunch. The chosen venue is ridiculously expensive so we are choosing our food from the bar menu! It is WI this evening. We are having a talk about Agatha Christie. She has always been a writer I turn to for a bit of comfort reading. Of course I will also be keeping an eye on the Tory Leadership contest. I am not a Tory and have no vote, but really… are these the best people that they can come up with?

dragonfly46 Wed 20-Jul-22 07:36:34

Good morning from a still sunny Lincoln.
Promises to be 26 degrees today.
I would be happy if it was raining at home but I fear not.

Pleased your day went well Mattie.

Hoping everyone has a good day.

Gingster Wed 20-Jul-22 07:37:16

Good morning all and thank heavens it’s cooler. I don’t think I could take another day of inactivity and heat ?. I’ve only been this hot before and that was in Darwin. I was so desperate for a/c yesterday , so I drove into town and popped into all the shops although I didn’t really need anything.

Today I’m meeting eldest gd in Southend. (Might see you there Sar). It’s our birthday week, so will spend the day together. Lunch first and then the cinema - The Railway Children. Ten years ago I took her to a London Production which took place along a railway track at Waterloo Station Theatre. (Former Eurostar terminal. It didn’t run for long but was an unusual production which gd remembers well.

Little pooch is being groomed first thing and she’ll be pleased to have a ‘short back and sides ‘. Dh is going fishing.

GM what a lovely send off for your Dh. As you say it’s the first day of your new life. Take care! ?.

Enjoy the coolness of the day.?

Gingster Wed 20-Jul-22 07:39:34

kittylester Wed 20-Jul-22 07:41:32

Good morning all from a very sticky North Leicestershire.

Dh is going to the gym this morning while I am going to do admin in our cooler (ish) dining room. Sadly, there are men scheduled to be resurfacing the road out side the dining room windows.

I'm glad yesterday went well gm. You have been a marvel.

Urmstongran Wed 20-Jul-22 07:42:51

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it is 16°C. Ah, that’s better! We have a slight breeze, complete white cloud cover and I can’t see the Pennines. I’m joyous!

We are meeting up with two of Himself’s brothers and their wives for drinks this afternoon. Not seen them since pre-Covid for one reason or another. We will get the train opposite into Manchester Oxford Road. Best take my brolly as light showers are forecast!

Then this evening it’s book club in the pub opposite on the station platform. I haven’t read the book yet ? but my Kindle tells me it takes just over an hour to read - probably triple that for me as I’m a slow reader! I will cram that in this morning. It’s ‘The Buddha in the Attic’ about Japanese women who went over to marry Americans before WW2, clutching a photo of their intended as they disembark.

Yesterday went well then grandMattie with you being well supported by family and friends? Mind you, it must feel strange this morning starting this ongoing chapter of your life without your dear man beside you. I hope you can navigate your way around your grief with your usual fortitude and faith lovely lady. Grief is the price we pay for love. x

NanKate Wed 20-Jul-22 07:44:50

Morning Mick and All.

So pleased your DH had a grand send off grandMattie.

Off on the Ferry to the Isle of Wight and onwards to Ventnor Botanical Gardens, I’ve always wanted to go there. Much better weather today ?

Marydoll Wed 20-Jul-22 07:45:22

Good morning all from a very cloudy Glasgow, where it's 15°C.

I'm pleased to hear yesterday went well GM. You must have found comfort in seeing so many come to show their respects to your dear husband.

I have managed to persuade my very accommodating hairdresser to squeeze me in today. Next week's appointment and the fitting of my new crown, both clashed with my forthcoming gastroscopy.

Yesterday, I had yet another setback. The cardiologist, who invited me to take part in the new heart drug trial, called for a chat.
Unfortunately, due to my ongoing, unresolved, health issues and being unable to use a treadmill, on my RA consultant's advice, I can no longer take part. ?
He was very kind and said he noted, how difficult things are for me at the moment, but there is no appropriate medication for me and bloods from my recent visit to A&E confirmed my heart is struggling. ?
He also emphasised how important it is to keep me out of hospital, as it's safer for me to be treated at home. I'm all for that!
My glimmer hope of an improvement in my heart condition, has been well and truly extinguished. So it's business as usual and making the best of things!

Hoping to read that Gwen and Mr Dusty Angel's procedures went well and sending my continuing prayers and good wishes to all our patients in the sick bay. ?

Enjoy your day, whatever your plans. Mr MD, in his usual haphazard way, has been power washing the driveway, I'm am only the lowly labourer! It's similar to a man and his remote control, he will not relinquish the hose to me! ?
A gentleman, in a pristine white convertible, with the roof down, parked opposite our drive. DH was oblivious to the consequences of power hosing opposite it.? I eventually pulled out the plug!
Today is stage two. Who knows what carnage will ensue.

Greyduster Wed 20-Jul-22 07:49:38

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. The sun is shining again in South Yorkshire and the forecast rain did not appear, so just as well I chose to get the hose out last night to try and save my plants. The bedrooms were so hot last night I was tempted to sleep on the sofa bed downstairs! Today I will walk down to the supermarket and the chemist, and give the house a clean before we go away. That should keep me out of mischief.
GM I’m glad the funeral and the aftermath went well. I, too, was heartened by the turnout for DH’s - we always joked it would be him or me and next door’s dog! Take things gently today.
Have the best day you can folks.

monk08 Wed 20-Jul-22 07:54:54

My kinda coffee Grandmadinosaur that looks delicious ?

harrigran Wed 20-Jul-22 07:55:44

Good morning from an overcast NE.
Another night with the Dyson on and I slept without the duvet.
Yesterday was a very gentle day, kept all the windows and blinds closed which kept the house cool. I drank a lot of juice and water and read my book. I sat in the garden in the evening before watering all the flowers.
As you say grandMattie today is the first day of your new life, my thoughts are with you, take each day as it comes.

ginny Wed 20-Jul-22 08:00:06

Good morning from a dull and breezy N. Bucks. We had a short rain shower last evening and it feels a little chilly now.
DGS3 will be here for an hour while his Mum goes to her exercise class and I’ll be collecting DGS2 from scroll this afternoon while his Mum takes his brother to his swimming class.
A few jobs to be fitted in between .
Wishing all a good day and special thoughts for those facing difficulties of any kind.
