Good afternoon Mick and everyone from the train on the way back to Hull.?Urms
We were supposed to be home yesterday but when arriving at KX station it was packed and we realised no trains were leaving at all. People were frantically trying to find information. We headed to a comfy seat in a costa to think about what to do.
No trains were going to Hull so we thought we’d better book a hotel. Then we found out in the evening trains were finally going. However we stayed the night and are on the train home now. We stayed in one of those premier inn hubs. Tiny rooms but served us very well just for one night it was fine. I said to DH we are so lucky we can pay for an extra night in London. We have had a really nice time but it’s always good to be home again. It was difficult during the extremely hot days though. We are going straight to pick up DGS, he’ll be hugged to within an inch of his life lol wether he wants to or not. We’ve missed him.
Hugs to those having difficulties today too many to mention individually but thinking of you all as always.
??

Given the fires should Gransnet be advertising stuff about BBQs?

Urmstongran Thu 21-Jul-22 11:57:42

Anyone else having problems with GN access? If I scroll down a thread to fast I get a blank page “can’t access” it’s jumping about all over and it’s pretty irritating. It started yesterday. In fact once I’ve posted this, I’ll press ‘report’ to GNHQ to see if they are aware of any glitches.

No sign of ShazzaKanazza yet this morning?

Nannagarra Thu 21-Jul-22 11:40:24

Good morning from, thank goodness, a much cooler Sefton coast.
Friends are coming round this afternoon. Whatever your day holds, grandMattie, dear lady, gives us the best advice.

Cooler this morning so I feel more inclined to tackle the various small jobs I have been putting off. Scrubbing out the bird bath is the most important - what an exciting life I lead!

DD has broken her arm - no plaster, just a collar and sling, very painful and unlikely she will be able to come to help me sort through DH’s clothes next week. Fortunately I have a good friend who is happy to help, because I don’t want to get to autumn with the job not done. Very sorry for DD who tripped up the stairs to the Ladies at the Barbican and is cross with herself.

Good morning Mick and all from a brightening northwest coast.
Tired after day trip yesterday, but enjoyed it so much and the weather just perfect. After exploring Barnard Castle, new to me and charming, visited High Force Waterfalls and drives around the fabulous countryside.
Neighbours being away, am feeding twin cats, one of which has assigned herself to me, which is very generous of my neighbours!
Now I’m thinking about my plans to get away for the weekend…
Look after yourself grandMattie and I like the idea of a different country every year. Might try that myself.

Good morning Mick and all. It’s damp, cloudy and grey in my corner of Lancashire, currently 17°C. It’s been raining overnight and feels much fresher. I hope we have some more rain today.

Yesterday I did a little housework and was able to use my exercise bike and do my physio without feeling as though I was melting. We spent some time in the garden tidying and dead heading. Today will be more housework and usual exercises. I’m very boring!

I’m glad you’ve had your son to help you GrandMattie. Sleep deprivation is not healthy and if it needs pills for a short while don’t be reluctant to take them flowers

Those hypertensive headaches are horrible Grandmabatty, please be gentle with yourself today. I remember how debilitating they were, thankfully I haven’t had one for 20 years, since my blood pressure was brought under control.

Have the best day you can, with a ?or two ?? along the way.

Morning from as Lanarkshire where it’s cloudy but sun breaking through and lovely blue appearing.

I’m still at DD’s farm with my friend who is sleeping peacefully, we have been so busy enjoying ourselves she is exhausted. A great afternoon in Peebles yesterday where we had no time for our planned river walk because the shops were so enticing, she is a ‘shopper’ but I did enjoy myself too.

Gingster I hope your daughter feels better soon and I feel for you Greyduster, where you are is hard.

I read your difficult news yesterday Marydoll, I’m sorry you’ve had that disappointment to deal with on top of everything else. Glad you’ve got Dollie to lighten your heart!

Good wishes to everyone ???

merlotgran Thu 21-Jul-22 09:20:50

Good morning everyone from a cloudy south coast. A cooler 23C is very welcome.

DD has broken a toe doing nothing more than stubbing it while she was staggering back to bed after a trip to the loo on Tuesday night. It swelled so badly at work yesterday that she spent three hours in minor injuries last night getting it X rayed and strapped to the next one. No boot thank goodness because it’s their Summer Ball tomorrow night and she’s so looking forward to it. Shame she’ll have to wear comfy flatties with her ball gown but it could have been worse.

I have nothing more exciting planned than the washing today. Hopefully it will be cool enough to get on with some proper gardening.

Have a good day everyone. Take care.

Good morning all from a cloudy W Kent. Lovely day yesterday lunch out for our anniversary and then a drive round the countryside. Off to art group this morning, unfortunately our numbers are dwindling after covid but those remaining enjoy a good chat and a little painting.
Good wishes to all.

Good morning everyone, a beautiful morning again but the afternoons are extremely hot and muggy. The air con in the living room has been on the waiting list for the technician to call for a couple of weeks but the day that DH was in hospital it stopped completely. Eventually after much reading of manuals some new batteries helped. blush Although now it seems a choice of very cold or off but at least I can cool the room down.

I give thanks that DH is sleeping peacefully beside me and hope that he isn’t in a lot of pain when he wakes up. He seemed far more relaxed yesterday which is such a relief after
the tensions of the previous week or so. He is a worrier about health and tends to snap at everyone. I had to keep reminding myself that he is at heart a good man.

grandMattie my heart goes out to you, You need to rest both physically and mentally even though there is much to do. Be gentle on yourself and don’t worry about getting forgetful sometimes, that’s just your brain taking the rest it needs ??

Marydoll I’m sorry about your disappointing news, you seem always give us the illusion of having so much energy it must be very frustrating.

Right, Mr.Dusty has had a bathroom break and been persuaded to stay in bed for a while. So I can now get going myself.

Thankyou to all of you who sent messages of support to us both, it really does help.

Grandmabatty Thu 21-Jul-22 08:40:21

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14° and cloudy. Quite still though and no sign of rain. A quick visit from me as I have a sore head this morning. Side effects of high blood pressure so I'll take it easy today. Have a good day all.

EkwaNimitee Thu 21-Jul-22 08:39:13

Good morning Mick and everyone from bright Carlisle where it is allegedly 14C. I'm a tad sceptical, I've got the windows open and I'm still in shorts, it's quite warm in the house.
Housework this morning and I'll see what I feel like doing this afternoon when it happens. I have a Tesco delivery at lunchtime. When I finalised the order last night, lots of stuff was now out of stock including most of the fruit and veggies I wanted. No carrots, no broccoli etc etc. What's going on?! I'm guessing it may be due to disruption of rail services due to the recent weather. I shall have to have a trip out tomorrow to see what I can get, meanwhile my own peas save the day. They are now finished in the garden and I pulled the plants out yesterday afternoon and started tidying the border. More soft fruit will eventually go in in their stead.

Thinking of you grandMattie, I do hope your sleeping problems resolve soon. Don't push yourself.

Gwenisgreat1 Thu 21-Jul-22 08:26:51

Good morning all from cloudy Harrogate- we had a dribble of the wet stuff overnight.
Delivery from Sainsburies this morning and a function at DGSs school this pm
Hope you are feeling better today Marydoll - there’s always something better round the corner.
Have the best day possible folks

Urmstongran Thu 21-Jul-22 08:26:24

Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s warm, dry but but dull. We have no plans until school pick up, a quick nursery tea at theirs, jump them into swimwear and off in the car (yay!) to their lessons. The car was ‘reset’ or something yesterday by our friendly mechanic. Wouldn’t accept any money for coming out to sort it saying ‘it was nothing’. Himself pressed a tenner on him ‘for petrol at least’. Result! We are happily mobile again for the foreseeable.

Marydoll Thu 21-Jul-22 08:21:32

Good morning all from a cool and cloudy Glasgow, where it's currently 20°C.

Thank you all for your kind messages yesterday. It's strange how all the health things I used to stress and worry about, don't phase me anymore.
Setbacks are the new norm for me, so I have to make the best of the better moments, it's the only way to protect my mental health.

After my very enjoyable visit to the hairdresser's yesterday (it is a hot bed of gossip ?) I decided to pop in and see Dollie on my way home. A hug from her, cures most of my ills!
There was only me, the two customers and the two hairdressers in the shop. The little dog was off the lead and wandering about. The customer did offer to put the lead on, if it bothered me. I was a bit wary of dogs ( my son was attacked by one, as a child), until my Parish Priest's huge dog took a liking to me, so I said it was fine. This little animal then started following me around the salon.
The owner was surprised saying that he never goes to anyone, he really likes you! A very good judge of character, I would say!!?

When I got to DS' house, I noticed a series of missed calls from the NHS. Of course, I was thinking the worst, my procedure had been cancelled. ?
My phone rang again when I was driving. It turned out it was the rheumatology support nurse, checking up on me, after having to come off my RA medication.
I don't like using hands free and I also had difficulty understanding her. She has a Croation/ strong Glaswegian accent, so she said she would call me back later.

As Maw has said I am very fortunate in the care I received.
As soon as I have the results of the gastroscopy, I have to phone the RA department immediately and they will get me up to the clinic to discuss my options.
The hairdresser noticed my scalp was tender and bleeding in places. That too is another horrible side effect, along with hair loss!? This drug is so toxic, similar to chemo.

Today, Mr MDoll has his shingles vaccination. We need to drive to Paisley, as they are centralising everything now. I have insisted in driving, as he is not good driving in town and his big car is difficult to park. I know all the best parking spots.
We will pick up a few things, I have ordered and I have also persuaded him to go for a fish tea, I cannot be bothered cooking!

I'm off to phone M&S, their sale started today, at 7am lots of sizes were gone already.
By the time I went to pay, half my items had disappeared and some of my vouchers were not taken off. There is no indication of which ones, were used! ?

Wishing you all a peaceful and gentle day, with a special mention for GM and all, who are struggling.

Greyduster Thu 21-Jul-22 08:12:54

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire; where it is raining!! At last. We were supposed to have it last night but I looked out at half past three (like yer do!) and it was drizza.
Today I will be giving the house a clean and finishing packing to go away tomorrow. It seems strange, heartbreaking, just to be packing for one. Not to be saying “Do you really want to wear those shorts again this year, they’re falling to bits!” The answer would always be “Of course!” I am travelling in SiL’s car, so will share the backseat with GS, but I have no doubt he’ll be glued to his phone most of the time. My neighbour has offered to water my plants while I’m away but after the searing conditions of the last week, there’s precious little worth wasting water on!
Hope the day is kind to everyone.

grandMattie Thu 21-Jul-22 08:11:30

Ooh, I’m so jealous of those of you had rain.
Our thunderstorm gave us exactly 3 minutes of on/off rain and that’s it since ????

Oopsadaisy1 Thu 21-Jul-22 08:01:59

Good morning from an overcast Oxfordshire, plenty of rain yesterday evening and it looks as though we also had some overnight, much cooler too.
Dog sitting today, MrOops and MissOops are out with the little car on a road trip, let’s hope it stays dry for them.

If it’s cooler I will tackle the upstairs rooms today, apart from that nothing to do!

My thoughts are with you Marydoll and also with Granmattie

Hugs for those who aren’t having a good time of it lately.

Grammaretto Thu 21-Jul-22 07:58:49

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
A humid 21 degrees.
The friend who has been staying returned home yesterday and has just informed me that he has tested positive for covid!
Not sure what, if anything, I should do.
He was worried that he has given it to me
I may stay at home and stare at my parched lawn Mawgrin
Sorry to hear about your disappointment and home it's not a setback Marydoll.
The paint I ordered still hasn't been dispatched. It comes from the Isle of Skye so must be on Hebridean time.

Onwards and upwards everyone. Tomorrow is another day.

Beechnut Thu 21-Jul-22 07:48:02

Good Morning everyone from Severnside where it’s a pleasant temperature.

Belated birthday greetings to MrJax ?for his celebrations.

I went to a meeting yesterday and just as I got back into my car it tipped down with rain. Lasted about five minutes. In the evening I rang my cousin as I hadn’t had a letter from her in a while. The phone rang and rang and eventually I was relieved when she answered. She has much older than me with various health issues but she is always chipper to chat to and she did make me laugh. I said I’d write to her today and fill her in with news from this end.

Hope everyone has the best day they can without too many problems and I’ll go back and have a catch up on this mornings .??

grandMattie Thu 21-Jul-22 07:42:34

Good morning from a warm, overcast E Kent.
I’m so sad for you regarding the drug trials, Marydoll. Carpe horam, dear lady.
I have been sleeping so poorly recently that I took a pill last night. I really felt quite ill most of yesterday from lack of sleep.
All the invalid equipment left yesterday afternoon. Just the bed actually served as the rest arrived too late as DH was deteriorating so rapidly. Sad to see the room so empty now. I’m waiting for DS to help me reshuffle the furniture.
DS has gone to visit some friends near Tunbridge Wells. He has been a great support, but deserves some time off for good behaviour. Normally he goes off visiting friends. He is sad not to have been to yet another new country this year. He has visited about 40+ to date, I think. Possibly more!
Stuff to do today. Carpe diem. ??????

brook2704 Thu 21-Jul-22 07:42:25

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a bit cloudy but dry
No childcare duties today vas SiL has a day off work so it’s catching up on washing and housework for me today. Hopefully I’ll get an hour or so in the garden too.
Sorry the medical news wasn’t a bit better for you yesterday Marydoll
Hoping everyone on holiday or spending time with family has a lovely time and take care all whatever the day brings ?

kittylester Thu 21-Jul-22 07:42:13

Good morning all from a dull but sticky North Leicestershire.

We had about 6 drops of rain last night so we had to selectively water some plants and, as a result, have decided to selectively replace some plants with less thirsty ones.

We are meeting old friends for lunch in Kenilworth so lots of chat and laughter.

ginny Thu 21-Jul-22 07:38:06

Good morning all.
A fairly quiet day today. I have a cake to deliver and a few admin. jobs.
Dd3 and the boys will call in later , they are off on holiday tomorrow.

Hoping today is a good one for all.
